  1. lol Chelsea loves Labs... doesn't mind about the colour! When we took her to the beach last time, there were heaps of Labs there and she kept running off to play with them. I'm sure she'd love to meet Dodge As for Jake, i didn't realise he was that way inclined! Not that there's anything wrong with that! DD..... trying to get the image of Pegasus out of my head now!
  2. Yep, another great training session last night! Stella is doing such a wonderful job, and i think everyone is doing so well with their dogs. Even Chelsea sat still (well ok, if you blinked you missed it!) every now and then. Will have to keep my eye on her to make sure Stella's hubby doesn't kidnap her (although there are times i wish someone would!). Mia is definitely another little cutie... i loved the way she pranced around . Banjo was looking very studly, but with Chelsea's millisecond attention span, i think it was wasted on her! Simone, thanks so much for giving us some appetising food... it really helped!! Next week i'll have gone shopping beforehand . As for Toby impressing Mia, i doubt he'd have to do much... he's just so cute! Anne, i thought you guys did well last night... bad time of the year though... everyone's been so busy over Christmas and we're all a wee bit tired. We had rest breaks every now and then where we just sat and watched or played, cos i know that Chelsea just can't keep focused. Heather, i only just read that your girl was in fowl... how exciting! Congrats!! Well, i'm not working as much over the next week, so i'm determined to get in some practice!! Next week you'll see a completely different Chelsea! (yeah, right... bwahahaha)
  3. LOL i've been a bit naughty and not done much! Have pulled a few double shifts the last week and even worked Xmas and boxing day, and yesterday while i was at work, a friend from Brisbane decided to pay a surprise visit . I'm taking her into Melbourne tomorrow, but will hopefully will be back in time for training. If i don't show, you'll know i didn't make it back in time, but will email Stella as well. Hope you all had a great Christmas!!
  4. We use Interceptor Spectrum, but that covers heartworm as well, so perhaps Drontal would be one of the better all-wormers (intestinal) for you.
  5. LOL Cake? Chocolates? hhmmm, summer school is getting better and better! I'm glad there's a 'no dating' rule... Chelsea's way too young for that stuff! (like she'd have the attention span anyway)
  6. Hi Sam, We had a great time, even though Chelsea was the worst behaved dog there. Stella did a wonderful job conducting the class and it was all run in a relaxed way. The class size was fabulous so nobody got overlooked when we were doing various exercises. Certainly great for us as we've only been doing obedience for a few months, so it will keep me motivated! It was great to meet everybody! Hope to catch you next time Sam! Again, thanks to Stella! Cheers, Jen
  7. LOL I'm just back from Cranbourne and it's pretty miserable there, so hopefully it does clear up. I'm not sure where else we could go where there is some cover.
  8. Hi Anne, Looking forward to tonight. I'll be bringing my young Golden, Chelsea who has no particular talents (other than pruning and general gardening) but certainly is hyperactive! See you all tonight. Hopefully the weather will hold out. Cheers, Jenny
  9. Forgot about Tasman Meats. We head there every fortnight to stock up. They have chicken frames, necks, lamb/beef soup bones, flanks, lambs necks etc - quite cheap.
  10. I must have completely missed this. We could use the extra training practice as well.. my 6 month old golden is bouncing off the walls with no training to go to over the Christmas period! Will send you a PM in case you can fit us in as well!
  11. Hi Sugar, I usually buy my chicken frames from Lenards and you get 3 or 4 for $1. Poultry farms or butchers sometimes sell them even cheaper, but i buy the Lenards ones as they leave more of the good stuff attached!
  12. Don't worry... a little to far away for me, but always good to know where the great vets are!
  13. lol i agree! spill the beans! . We promise that you'll get priority with vet visits!!
  14. I had the same with a Border Collie i used to own. He actually wore a path from running up and down the same spot along the fence barking. We tried everything to stop him, but nothing worked, so he spent most of his time inside. When we eventually moved to another house with high wooden fences (he could not see through), he was fine!
  15. Great to meet most of you today, and thanks to Steve and Julie (love your place!). Thought everyone's dogs were quite well behaved - certainly some cuties there! Glad i left my brats at home though. Most of the drive stuff was quite new to me, so i really had to conentrate!
  16. I think i've decided to leave my dogs at home. I couldn't decide whether to take Jazz or Chelsea. Chelsea being only 5 months is likely to be a pain in the butt, so i think i'll leave her home with Jazz... saves me having to worry about them! Now, off to find the email with directions. I live fairly close, so shouldn't take too long! Looking forward to tomorrow!
  17. I raised my recent litter on Pro Plan Puppy and was very happy with it. I ordinarily use Eagle Pack, but at the time couldn't find anywhere that had stocks of it due to distribution problems. It's the food i keep in reserve as it's a decent food and easy to get! Just have to remember that it's a complete food and not intended to be fed with anything else.
  18. We have used it on and off over the last 3 years or so and i'm happy with it. The dogs also seem to like it! Perhaps if the stockists aren't listed on the website, contact them for a brochure listing places that stock the products?
  19. Hey Lisa, I'll have to invest in one of those tools. I was so peeved about the bee's and so worried about Chelsea yesterday as i'm working a lot this week that i was trying to whack the capeweed & it's roots out with the metal pooper scooper . I'm sure we have a shovel somewhere but the pooper scooper was handier. I'll PM you the Hallam emergency vet details. Cheers, Jenny
  20. Some of the superpremium foods are COMPLETE, meaning to add anything could cause nutritional imbalances. Eagle Pack is designed so that you can just feed it by itself or you can feed up to 25% other foods, so don't worry Aly's mum. It's a great food!
  21. Hi malleerr, It's amazing how quickly things happen isn't it? I've been to my vet today and he's given me 1 syringe loaded with dexamethasone and another with antihistamine. I spoke to him about Adrenaline and he said he'd prefer not to give that as if you accidentally give it intravenously instead of IM it could be fatal. I didn't realise that they had pen-style contraptions as well, but i guess he'd be aware of them. It just worries me that something will happen when i'm not home - scary!
  22. I just re-read my post. A doggy dentist who specialises in dental problems... yeah, i 'm really awake!!
  23. Sounds like Minx needs to have her teeth looked at again! I've been racking my brain trying to think of where the doggy dentist is. There is one somewhere near us. They specialise in dental problems. If i ever remember it, i'll post again!
  24. Hi Lisa, It certainly gave us a fright... and very scary to realise that she would be dead if we weren't home. I'm so glad we could get her to the emergency vet in Hallam in minutes and they saw her straight away. Also, i'm lucky that i'm a Registered Nurse and pretty much knew what was happening and knew i had to get her somewhere fast. Within 5 minutes she was barely rousable, her pulse was weak and her gums were blue. Even the vet admitted that she'd seen bee allergies such as swollen faces and hives, but she'd never seen a dog go into anaphylactic shock. Very, very scary... so everybody, make sure you have some contact numbers with you at all times for your vet and the closest emergency vet!! I was just astonished at how quickly it all happened and while i've had to deal with lots of medical emergencies with people, i've never seen a dog collapse like that. My current problem is.. how to kill the capeweed in the backyard that is attracting the bee's. I'm at my wits end with that. We sprayed the entire yard yesterday morning and managed to kill all the grass around and under the weeds, but the weeds are alive and well!! I've been busy researching online and phoning around companies to see what products they have. Poor Chelsea has had to stay inside unless someone is with her, and then we're mainly taking her out the front. So we've had a few accidents inside now as well, but anyway ,hopefully i'll find something that actually does kill the weeds! It's reealllyyy frustrating!
