  1. Hi Ruth, I think it would be fine to keep Sasha on it the puppy breed for another 2 months. It is too expensive just to throw out! 22kg at 6 months is a good weight! Cheers, Jen
  2. I doubt very much it is the Eagle Pack contributing to your girl not growing. I've raised my girl (now 7 months) on Eagle Pack and she's quite large. Shame on your breeder for not taking much interest in her though. Even if she thought she wasn't show worthy, she could have pointed this out in a constructive way. One of my Golden girls grew very slowly. In fact she didn't even reach 'breed standard' weight or height until she was 2 1/2!! She is now 28.5kg and 1cm over minimum height. Out of interest, how much does your girl weigh?
  3. Hi Goldeneale, It can be so confusing with the different thoughts on pretty much everything. Most Golden breeders recommend changing to an adult food at 5 or 6 months of age to ensure a more sustained level of growth, so as not to place so much pressure on young joints. It is thought that high levels of protein (which are present in a lot of puppy foods) contribute to a fast rate of growth, although i have also read some research which disputes this!! Personally, i'd rather play it safe. As you're probably aware, there are some hip and elbow problems with Goldens. I think all you can do, is research yourself and do whatever you feel more comfortable with. An alternative would be to switch to a puppy formula which is lower in protein and specifically designed for Large breeds. eg Eagle Pack Large/Giant breed.
  4. I'm so sorry to hear about Brodie, Crysti Lei - it always seems so unfair. At least she's pain-free and running with all of our beautiful boys and girls at Rainbow Bridge  R.I.P Brodie
  5. I would assume the vet has seen her recently, as calcium levels have been done. What do they think is wrong with her?
  6. Eagle Pack and Pro Plan are my favoured foods for my dogs, in that order.
  7. Yep, we generally switch Goldies over at 5 months of age as well. Unfortunately though, some vets still advise owners to stay on puppy food until at least 12 months of age.
  8. I believe the only Puppy food you can safely keep a large/giant breed on until 12 months of age is Eagle Pack Puppy (large/giant breed) - it has a much lower protein level than most of the other puppy foods.
  9. Great to hear you guys all had a wonderful time... i was disappointed i couldn't make it!! Thanks again to Stella.. you're a very inspiring instructor and i really enjoyed the classes!
  10. So glad to hear Trigger is ok! I've nearly lost my young puppy before, so i know what you went through!
  11. Wooo hoooo thanks Jake!! (and Anne of course). Chelsea sends a big lick to Jake for doing her trick (she still can't keep her bum on the floor ). Thanks Heather for the break up details! Banjo... would have loved to see you do your trick - sounds very amusing
  12. I missed not being able to go to summer school tonight due to Chelsea's season (the bitch!). I was thinking of you all though as i did my grocery shopping (how tedious!). Will someone PM or email me about the break-up? Hey, do we still graduate if we missed a class? Although if you knew what Chelsea has been up to the last few days we probably wouldn't be allowed to graduate! LOL.
  13. Her trick was crawling, which we've been practicing a little. I'm having problems keeping her bum on the floor, so she kind of crawls with her bum in the air . I was a bit peeved she came into season so early.. her mum was 12 months old, but then again was really slow to mature physically. Chelsea weighs more at 6.5 months than her mum did at 1 1/2 years! Meanwhile, while i was out shopping, she's completely destroyed her outside bed and i've got no idea what she's done to some of my plants!

  15. Chelsea is in season! I reckon she did it on purpose to get out of school!!
  16. That's a great price for it Brigantia. I usually get mine from Robbo's but haven't seen it that cheap there! do you mind sharing where you buy your EP from?

  20. I'd love to go to training at Scoresby one day, but i work Sundays, so gotta go to Berwick. One of these days i'll ditch a Sunday.... one day!
