Hi Barb, I was checking out their website and the pool looks quite unusual. I'm only 10 mins or so away, so we might give it a go.... the girls will love it!

Morwell might be a little far, seeing that there quite a few people who have been recommended here in Melbourne, but i will definitely keep it in mind Erny, thanks for the info as well. I didn't even realise there was a doggy pool in Devon Meadows.

Thanks so much for all the responses! We have a few people to try in the future if the need arises ... i'm sure it will with my 2!!

I doubt you'll need to worry about Holly growing to breed standard. My older girl was always called "small", but she is well within standard height and weight, although took 2 years to get to weight! . There are a lot of larger than breed standard goldens out there as well, which unfortunately make the smaller ones look really small.

Ray is our regular vet, but thought i'd take them to a chiro first. I knew there was one in Cranbourne as well, but couldn't find the details. I've made an appointment for next Wednesday with Tony in Hampton Park, so will see how we go! Neither of the girls are in any discomfort and race around like maniacs, so it's not urgent.

Great advice guys! I agree... take Holly back to the breeder at 12 months of age before you get any of the testing done, and see what she thinks. In the meantime, do check out some of the shows. The Champ show is a good one to have a look at. It's not until May 28th at KCC Park. You'll find taht even a lot of interstate breeders bring their Goldens to that show, so if you only get to one.... get to that one! But for now, just have fun!

Thanks for that guys! Hampton Park is 5 mins away, so guess i could try there first.

Hi everyone, Can anyone recommend a good doggy chiropractor here in Melbourne? Both of my girls seem to be holding themselves in slightly awkward positions while standing and i wonder if all the rough play has thrown their backs out a little? I live in the south-east region, but happy to travel. Thanks! Jen P.S. Feel free to PM

Best Heart And Intestinal Wormers
goldielover replied to ~Myschafis~'s topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
As far as i know, Priceless Pets do not have a secure server for credit card payments. I have used them on 3 occasions over the last year and they are very efficient. When i place an order i email them for their direct deposit details and do it that way.... I have a friend in Qld that phones them with her credit card number. -
What Brand Of Commercial Dry Food To Feed?
goldielover replied to DogsLover's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi Dogslover, We use Eagle Pack Holistic (Large breed puppy for Goldens, then change to adult at 6 months or so). It's a great dry food, especially if you want to add other foods to your dogs diet. Some of the other super premium dry foods are a COMPLETE food (eagle pack can also be given as a complete food), and you really need to be careful if you feed anything else other than the dry. Also, if you have a large breed, be careful of foods containing a lot of protein, and if you are using a puppy food, change over at 6 months to ensure a sustained growth which won't put too much pressure on the joints. -

We also use Interceptor Spectrum... no problems so far -
For the Eagle Pack people... PetStock currently have it on special. Adult Holistic for $75 (18kg bag). BIt disappointed in the local Pet Stock though as they only ever used to have live birds, but today had rabbits and kittens.

Southern Obedience Dog Club
goldielover replied to Purpley's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
We spent a year at Southern with Jazz. On the whole i found it reasonably good, but i have to agree that they are more 'traditional' and perhaps a little military-like in their methods. As others have said, there are some great trainers there and also some not so good. I really didn't think about the verandah thing until someone mentioned it... i agree! It was always a bit of a struggle to get your dog through LOL. One of the advantages of Southern though, is that they own the grounds, so you are able to exercise your dog there almost any time (fully fenced). When we moved, we started going to Berwick DOC, which i found more relaxed - nice bunch of people as well. Now we go to Berwick ADT which is fantastic - couldn't recommend them highly enough! The initial cost is high, but if you spend several years training your dog at one of the clubs, the cost is probably comparable. -
Eagle Pack here as well
-
Hi axxl, I think there is show training classes (privately run) at the showgrounds. Also at KCC park on Thursday evenings, but probably a little too far from you.
-
Hi Axxl, The breeder might not transfer her onto the main register until the hips/elbows have been x-rayed and heart/eye certificates are all done, but you could still do show training if you wanted to prepare her for the show ring. It'll also give you time to grow some thicker skin (definitely needed for showing! LOL). Did you have a chat to her breeder about transferring to the main register and showing, etc?

LOL i just found them. I'm about to post some of my goofball CHelsea in a few mins. Holly is very pretty!

When Do You Switch From Puppy Food To Adult Food?
goldielover replied to cassie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
P.S. Ruth, do you have any recent pics of Sasha? I'm about to post a few goofy pics of Chelsea inthe photo section! -
Hi axxl, Most breeders keep their young Goldens lean... as long as you can't see the ribs or hip bones, that's good! She's about 20kg, which is probably about what my older girl was at 6 months (chelsea on the other hand was almost 27 at 6 months - she's grown like a weed, even on Eagle Pack). Do you have some pics of her up in the photo section? I'd love to see her! I'm about to post a pic of my goofball, Chelsea. Cheers, Jen
