  1. As a breeder of a popular breed (Goldens), i get dozens of emails a week. I try my best to answer them all, but i also work full time and usually am on call 24/7 also. I find that i often write lengthy replies - answer questions, give lots of info, etc., and probably 75% of the time, i don't get a reply at all. I tend to like to speak to people over the phone personally, so i can get a feel for them. I also will not put anybody on my waiting list until i have met them (and whoever lives in their house) and am satisfied that they are a good family for one of my puppies to go home with. I would perhaps email them and ask if you can phone them at an appropriate time to have a chat. Build up a bit of a rapport, and if you feel comfortable with them on the phone, ask if you can visit their dogs, either at a show or at their house/kennels
  2. Thanks so much for the advice everyone. I know of a few other breeders in the area and they also recommended Boronia. It's only a few minutes' drive from my puppy people's place too :) Pretty good. I wouldn't say she's the best mum i've had, but could be worse LOL I haven't put up any new pics in a week or so, but there's heaps of photo's on the website: www.chadeaus.net (under November 2012 litter)
  3. Hi everyone, I have a puppy going to a lovely couple who live in Ferntree Gully. They have not had a pet before, so don't have a regular vet. Does anybody know of a good vet in the area? Please feel free to PM me also (recommendations, and if there's anyone they should steer clear of!). Thanks in advance :)
  4. dogmate: The nutridrops are just full of nutrients and also glucose, so hopefully will give her more strength to suck, and you don't need very much. You can get them at some pet stores. Maybe just phone around your local pet supply places in the morning. Whelping supplies also sells it. I usually have a bottle on hand when whelping. It's helped a few of my babies too :) http://www.whelpingsupplies.com.au/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=374
  5. dogmate: sorry to hear about your little girl. You could also try Nutridrops (more concentrated than Nutrigel) - full of vitamins, glucose, etc. Another remedy (more for fading puppies, but anything is worth a shot) is boiling up a beef liver and giving her some of the juice when cooled. Keeping my fingers crossed for her
  6. Is Zara otherwise ok, LP? Do you know if she definitely passed all of the placentas? Could she have retained one?
  7. LOL LP, the puppy party was last Saturday!! You're more than welcome to pop over to see the babies though - just let me know when so i can make sure we're home! They don't go home until New Years day and onwards :)
  8. YAY! Congrats LP & Zara - beautiful timing too - let you get a bit of sleep!! Sounds like she's being a fabulous mum too
  9. Hope your girls whelp soon for you, although it's a bit hot here in Melbourne LOL
  10. Love the photo's everyone! The babies have been keeping me super busy. Our guys are now 5 weeks old. We visited a local nursing home yesterday and the residents absolutely loved the babies and they certainly lit up the faces of many of our elderly community :) ETA. We have permission from this gentleman to post his photo :)
  11. Best of luck for the whelping LP!! I reckon about 5 or 6?? Did she have an ultrasound? ETA. If you have a stethoscope you can hear the fetal heartbeats :) .
  12. aaawww, just gorgeous, Piper. Your boy almost looks like a newborn Golden!! LOL
  13. Congratulations Piper and Jazz! Hope you're both able to get a little rest now :)
  14. I've come in to check if Piper has had her babies yet. Can't be far away if she hasn't! Thanks for the comments guys - they are a cute bunch - huge time wasters. Miss Pink thinks she's the bees knees LOL
  15. Black boy Resting our weary heads! Mr Brown Wanna know a secret? lol Pretty Miss Pink - such a poser!
  16. Fordogs: So sorry to hear about your 5 little angels Piper: Best of luck for the whelping. Hope you have plenty of tea/coffee/caffeine! I'll post a couple of photo's of my lot soon!
  17. I agree - the waiting sucks! LOL. All the best for a nice easy whelping! Love the photo choc_bordercollie
  18. I do the same now also - just use my usual adult food and increase quantity at around 6 weeks
  19. I usually try and do them around the 7 week mark. I know that a lot of Golden breeders are now vaccinating closer to the 8 week mark and keeping the pups until 9 weeks of age. I just give the C3
  20. lol i didn't fare too much better with the nail polish. I renewed it yesterday (i put it in the same place just above the tail), and they squirmed around, so now there's different colours everywhere LOL They're looking good Andisa :) . Must take more photos!
  21. Congrats choc_bordercollie :) Love the photo's everyone. Pockets - that is one chubby baby LOL. Think he enjoys his time at the milkbar!
