Hi neatz... yes, that's at the pool, or if he comes out to vaccinate/micro-chip litters. It certainly is a great price! I usually only use him if my puppies/dogs have been recently checked out. I can't remember what the micro-chips cost - i think around $26 or $28 which is also very good.

Vet Recommendations - Albury
goldielover replied to goldielover's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Anybody? Thanks for the PM's though! -
Hi everyone, Can anybody recommend a good vet in the Albury region? Looking into it for a puppy buyer of mine. Feel free to PM positive (and negative) suggestions! Thanks!!
-
NOt sure what's available in NSW unfortunately . We have a vet here who is based at a surgery but 1 to 2 days a week does travel. He will vaccinate/micro-chip litters at your home, but also goes to a local dog pool once a week.

There's a huge difference. If i don't need my girls checked out, i go to our traveling vet who charges $18 for a C3 and $25 for a C5 (or did last year). Just crazy the price difference. He obviously still must be making some money so the mark-up on vaccinations must be phenomenal!

Gorgeous pics of Zara and Panda!! Now, how about you nag Polly's new owners for some pics too!!!

Hi Mez. Congrats on your new puppy. I'm not fond of Supercoat either, but different dogs do well on different foods. As someone has mentioned, it's not a good idea to change over to a new food quickly, especially when they are under enough stress going to a new home. I feed my Goldies Artemis (www.artemispetfood.com.au) which gets delivered to my door. I use the Med/Large breed puppy, then change over to adult Fresh Mix at 5 or 6 months of age. Prior to Artemis i fed Eagle Pack Holistic which is also another excellent food, but i was dissatisfied for other reasons. In the 'General' section of the forum, under 'Breed Sub forums' we also have a Retriever section if you'd like to join us!!

I was really disappointed in the Tuffie toys as well. My girl had one of the large rings, rating of 9, and it lasted 20 hours (including overnight LOL). I gave another ring (rating of 10) to a friend who owns a boy i bred and it lasted 20 minutes. Should have flushed $70 down the toilet LOL

Seriously!

Shear Magic Thinning Scissors
goldielover replied to First Time Puppy Owner's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
FTPO: Thinning scissors are for trimming out undercoat to thin the coat. I use the thinners on the neck, hocks and for ear fluff (inside and out). If you want to remove mats, you're best to use your ordinary scissors. I use ordinary scissors for trimming the tail and the shape of the ear and to tidy up the feet. -
Cold Water Tail, Swimmers Tail, Limber Tail Syndrome
goldielover replied to benny123's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I've only experienced it once before with one of my dogs (young Golden girl). It was about 12 hours after swimming, but only lasted 2 to 3 days and didn't particularly bother her - just a limp tail. I didn't give any medication though. From what i hear it's often the same dogs that are affected. Now i'm very careful to dry her very well, particularly around the base of the tail. -
I've been using the Artemis Fresh Mix for quite some time now and am very happy with it. I used EPH prior to that and was looking for something a little more economical when EP increased their prices. Was always happy with EP though - see no changes. The girls all have clear eyes, decent coats, lots of energy and small firm poo's!

Congrats on your new puppy gmc - she's a cutie. I crate train also, but i have the crate in my bedroom - a little difficult if you have stairs though!! LOL. I have a 10 week old goldie pup and have been extrememly lucky with her. We go to bed around 11.30 and the earliest she's woken up is 6.30 - i'm so thankful for that!! LOL. I'm not sure where you live, but if it is in a warmer state like QLD, i would leave water in the crate for her personally. I'm in VIC and still leave water and my baby does drink a little during the night. Ignoring her cries is all you can do provided you're pretty sure she doesn't need to toilet - not easy, i know!! We have a goldie thread on here if you care to join us!! http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...p;#entry3290754

Hi Gretel, I had a golden that went into anaphylactic shock when set got stung by a bee. First time we nearly lost her (even with getting to the emergency vet within 20 minutes of the sting). You can get Epi pens for dogs, but i know my vet was against it as it is quite dangerous if you accidentally give it intravenously. Every year in Spring i would get an anti-histamine and a cortisone injection from my vet to have on hand at home. I would keep her inside if bees were around - very scary experience!

New Puppy Owner: Show Off You New Bubba ^_^ V

What an adorable munchkin Axle is!! -
1) What Dry Food do you use? Artemis Fresh Mix adult 2) How long does that last you? Depends! 3) Do you buy more than 1 bag at a time? Yes, usually buy 2 bags at a time 4) What is the size of each bag and its cost? 15kg bag costs $98.45. Very cost effective to feed as it's very concentrated. My girls get around 1.5 cups/day. My more active girl used to get 2 to 2 1/2 cups a day max. In light of recent events, it would be a great idea to contact Judith (as per FTPO's post) as Artemis also offer a grain-free kibble and have a good range.

It really is sad that these products can't be purchased elsewhere I've only been to the one in Cranbourne once (when it first opened) and the staff were friendly, but at the time i was feeding EP Holistic and they put it down and tried to make me feel guilty for feeding such a bad quality food LOL. My other experience with another affiliated franchise was a young male salesperson telling me that the bags of California Natural they were trying to flog off were fine to use even though they were a year out of date (keeping in mind that it would take me 3 months to get through the bag as well). His words of wisdom were "I feed it to my dog and he walks good and stuff!"... so i walked - OUT! LOL
