Too creamy! mmmmmm.....Jersey cream...... Hoping bubba is doing well this morning
-
OK - if you think she will be mated within the next 3 weeks - completely ignore me LOL! I guess I was looking at the fact that this bitch is not quite in season yet and with the high prevalence of KC and parvo around Sydney - I would like to make sure my in-season bitch was up to the challenge (antibody-wise). Under the circumstances, if this were my bitch, I would actually vaccinate her when I vaccinate the puppies and in the meantime give my utmost to ensure there is minimal contact with dogs which go outside the property ie to shows etc and employ good hygiene when visitors come onto the property - quarantine as I mentioned in an earlier post.

Being Prepared - Where Can I Find Goats Milk?
t-time replied to Tapua's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It's just another milk substitute powder for small animals similar to Divetelac or Biolac:) I reckon the goats milk is better -
Fascinating.....so do both of you titre test every year or what? I'm doing as I mentioned above and then titre testing after 3 yrs to see if the dogs need re-vaccinating. In addition, do you tell your puppy buyers not to vaccinate? Or do you give them the regular recommendations? Also, what do you do about the KC part of the vaccine as I understand that is supposed to be yearly regardless? Thanks for your thoughts
-
Yep, if you can't get beef, Lamb will *do* but beef is better
-
Oakway - are you saying that you don't give their 1 yr booster at all? While I'm all for keeping vaccination to a minimum, my minimum is 2 puppy shots and then one vaccination a year later. THEN titre test if you don't want to give yearly vaccines....... From the OPs initial post, this bitch has never had a vaccination as an adult?
-
If she's not swollen or bleeding I would vaccinate her today. Sounds like this girl has only had her puppy vaccs so far? If you intend to mate her, either vaccinate now or be prepared to quarantine BIG TIME There's a whole heap of nasties around atm especially if you are going to shows etc or even just the local dog park

Liver treats are no good for this purpose - has to be fresh beef liver (or Lamb liver if you are desperate) Sounds like he's going much better and yes, if you can give a little beef liver tea still, I think it will be worthwhile - just an extra energy juice for him

Being Prepared - Where Can I Find Goats Milk?
t-time replied to Tapua's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Awwww....congratulations Tapua As another milk substitute, I was going to suggest Wombaroo as I know many breeders have tried that with success I guess you don't need to worry about it now! -
Beef liver tea is fabulous - just place a piece of beef liver in a saucepan, depending on the size of the piece add up to a cup of water (this is just so it doesn't burn on the bottom), cover and steam gently until the liver piece is cooked - doesn't have to be browned - strain juices and that's what you feed Bub. The bitch will like the cooked liver in her dinner Keep the juice covered in the fridge and just warm small amounts as you need them - do not be tempted to microwave it! With such tiny amounts, you can't possibly test the temperature of the whole 3mls

CONGRATULATIONS Had a great day huh?

Yes, thankyou BOTH - I can see what you are both getting at now and it *is* different.

Being in the North of Brisbane, you have possibly the best AI person in the country at your disposal.... Phil Thomas at Chermside. If you want to be 99% sure on having puppies from an AI - go and visit him with your girl Seriously good....... ;)

European Vs Asian Dogs - Single Vs Double Estrous Cycle
t-time replied to MalteseLuna's topic in General Dog Discussion
Classified as an Ancient Asian Breed, Tibetan Terriers *generally* have 2 seasons per year though as in other posts, seasons can change with different bitches. -
What's the difference other than the other dog "not being boisterous"?? c
-
What would you describe as sparring Sheridan ? I suppose you want another Terrier to "play" or "sparr" with but how is that any different to baiting your dog against another? The effect is the same......
-
While I tend to agree Lyndsay (naturally LOL) - "sparring" is seen to be an integral part of breed type in the majority of Terriers. It **its me and I never win under those circumstances because my dogs become frightened and they are generally very vivacious but 9/10 neither does the Terrier exhibitor. With one exhibitor I ended up completely turning my back on her dog and leaning on its front It was so obvious to the judge that they asked us to reset and THEN that exhibitor was called off.

Do Dogs Know That Different Houses Have Different Ruls?
t-time replied to Loraine's topic in General Dog Discussion
I often have visitors with different rules at their house but they come here and after they have had one visit, they know what is expected of them Sometimes they *do* slip up but I'm always kindly in those situations and remind them gently -
Personally I haven't experienced this with KBTs but rather in General Specials when a Terrier exhibitor would "bait" their Terriers by using my Toy dog!!!! It happened more than once and each time, it would scare the living daylights out of my girl who was normally steady as a rock to show. So, it *does* happen but I wouldn't say it is regular practice. ETA: different exhibitors and different breeds each time apart from one one particular breed which I won't mention and it wasn't KBTs!!!

A friend's show trolley fell off the back of her dog trailer today when leaving the Allora show......... She couldn't find it in the rain (fine tomorrow by all accounts!! ) If anyone happens to find it by the side of the road or similar, could you please take it to the show committee shed at Allora show or contact me via PM. It has blue matting and was made by Shane Watt so it is quite distinctive. Thanks in advance.

As per above but I also get the owners to sign a form stating that the dog is in good health, due for Advantix/worming etc on such& such a date and details of their regular vet. Obviously CONTACT numbers are very important during their absence and I send them an email once a week with an update. :-) I expect to be able to feed the same diet as my other dogs but if there are special diets required, this must be provided by the owner. I also ask for the owners to provide fortnightly Advantix during the stay as I am in a high tick area. Great idea to get them to take out pet insurance!
-
Ummm...I'm assuming this is for the future and you don't seriously want to clip a 3 month old ShihTzu? I hope you are keeping the ears clean and nails done as regular maintenance - it's not a once every 8 week job!
-
Yes well....Rappie is a vet so I'm not about to disagree!!! Grade one is very mild and possibly even a murmur that *might* disappear as the pup gets older?? Rappie will correct me if I'm wrong...... :D Perhaps if you are really interested in taking this pup, you could ask for some sort of health guarantee for the future? To cover medication and ultrasounds later on? Just a thought.... Otherwise, personally, I'd wouldn't take the pup.

It STINKS!!! (Well, unless you like the smell of flea stuff!!) Last time I checked, there was no issue with dividing a pipette of Frontline or Advantix and I'm pretty sure that hasn't changed.
