I want to get some Advantix online but I wondered if anyone knows who has the cheapest prices?? I recently order some grooming products online and although the price was inexpensive for the items, I was charged about $10 for delivery costs/insurance and the items weighed less than 200 grams!!! So anyone got a good deal somewhere? At the moment I'm paying between $69 and $78 for a 6 pack of Advantix. (4 - 10kgs)

Help Need To Blacken A Winter/snow Nose
t-time replied to roughstock's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Roughstock - there was another recent thread about this and it seems that most places are out of stock. You can try Cherrybrook in the States - order online and you'll get it within 10 days. :D Let us know if got some from Petcetera. -
Yep - baby puppy equals BABY! Getting up every 2 hours will be the norm until she is around 4 months of age by which stage she will be holding on for a bit longer It's great that she's waking you up to go ;) No messes to clean up at 2am

My Baby Ate Glass On The Weekend
t-time replied to BittyMooPeeb's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hope your baby gets better soon - what an awful thing to happen! My Buttercup ate my girlfriends' prescription glasses a year or two back Just to let you know - she is still with me today That guts will still eat ANYTHING! Some oldtimer here on DOL ages ago mentioned that should your dog eat glass, you can feed large amounts of cotton wool with honey or something yummy to make it go down Wraps itself around anything solid in the gut and then it passes easily. Apparently it worked for him/her but I haven't tried it myself -
Palane - try mincing the meat, add a bit of olive oil and plain yoghurt and mix it in with the kibble When I'm being lazy and haven't made up my Barf mixture, the dogs get their meat with kibble - and they will leave the kibble in preference for the meat. I give them good quality kibble so I don't want them missing out on valuable nutrients in that. Mixing it all together solves that issue and everything in the bowl is scoffed. (And there's bound to be someone who doesn't agree with serving dry and wet food together )

Glad you enjoyed your trip Rappie Please keep us up to date date with the new vaccination protocols - still trying to convince vets that we vaccinate too often Good luck with the new job

Blast dishwashing liquid is just as effective and a lot cheaper Whatever you use, make sure you condition after washing - dishwashing "shampoo" does dry the coat out
-
Redrob - is there anyone in your breed you know who could help you out? :D I'd offer but I've already got a houseful and one dryer.....wait a minute - what breed is it? If you are on a different day to me, I might be able to help I'm on the 13th so I need my dryer on the 12th and perhaps before General Specials - if I'm really lucky!

Did you go with Classic Show supplies Daxhound? I ordrered mine from there at 2pm in the afternoon and it arrived in the post the next day :D I was way impressed with that!
-
Yep, I just used the cereal from the supermarket as well I seem to remember that I upped the liquid content a little to accommodate the dryness of the wheatgerm :D As pup has put on 3kgs, I'd be slowing the fat intake down a little Don't try and get his full proper weight too quickly - he sounds like he's putting on the weight nicely and a giant leap in weight could take it's toll on his young bones. Not lecturing you, as it's so exciting that he's now eating but just take it nice and easy
-
CONGRATULATIONS!! That's awesome ShellyBeggs And it ended up being something we didn't even suggest LOL But hey. whatever works :D Glad your pup is putting on some weight and food is no longer an issue
-
*BUMP* How's your puppy going ShellyBeggs?

Yes I've just finished my bottle and I can't say it was fantastic for my dogs - but MY hair feels great! ;) ;) The Evening Primrose Conditioner is pink but the Royal Jelly Shampoo is just milky-honey-coloured - smells good enough to eat! I do like the shampoo but I think it was the conditioner letting me down with my long-coats. So I switched conditioners and that works a treat

My Plush Puppy Pin Brush has lasted me nearly 3 years and I reckon it's got another year or 2 left in it! ;) A darn good brush but a little heavy to use in the hand all the time. So I bought an All Systems brush last year at twice the price of my PP brush and after 8 months, it's totally STUFFED! I'm looking at the CC brushes now 'cos even though my PP brush is great, I'm after something with long pins.

Then, Shelly, you need to do something to get more weight on him and IMPROVE his appetite ;) I would still personally do as I and others previously suggested and feed less often, pick up the food and feed again the next day - that way you are making him HUNGRY and he WILL EAT! You have to be tough or you are building a rod for your own back! You have already had him vet checked and the vet said he is just a fussy eater with nothing wrong?? Get him checked out again if it will put your mind at ease that there are no medical issues. Don't forget that you will be trying to make him BETTER by sticking to a routine with the food. Tough love! You have to be cruel to be kind under the circumstances! You get the drift.... Then make sure the food you are giving him is 100% packed with good nutrients - crappy cat food and a few bikkies with the occasional bone is not going to cut it if he's so thin. And BOY he sounds skinny! Do feed him what you want to but add extra - THRIVE D was suggested - this is a great additive full of good vitamins and nutrients. Buy some NUTRIGEL - this is an appetite stimulant also added vitamins. SPRINT OIL for Greyhounds is another product many DOLers have used successfully - all the good oils and more vitamins for your boy! All these items are available at pet stores or produce places - the ones which don't sell live animals of course! Do a search here on DOL for SATIN BALLS - these are tempting treat which can be included as part of his meal - they are loaded with fat (lots of cream etc in the recipe and you can add cheese if he likes it) plus mince and other "doggy- type" ingredients. Feed a super premium kibble - I don't know what kibble you are feeding at the moment but if your of the mind that super premium food is too expensive, just do it until you can get your dog sorted out with his weight and appetite. A kibble like EAGLE PACK or NUTRO is full of good stuff with no rubbish fillers and that's what he needs in his system at the moment. There are heaps of different brands but these two are ones I would suggest. Add a tin of SARDINES a couple of times a week - 60 cents a tin! Mix in some LIVER or HEART or whatever he'll eat offal-wise. (Personally, my dogs won't touch any offal!) Honestly, as long as he is medically fit, these suggestions WILL work And what you've been doing is not working So how about you give it a go?? Be strong! I know it can be distressing but they can be little ratbags sometimes
-
Look at it this way - you can't get your own food.... Mum gives you brekky which you may or may not eat. You get given snacks (kibble) any time you want if you get hungry at all during the day. When it gets late in the afternoon/evening, Mum is going to give you dinner. You've been snacking all day and you ate part of your brekky so you're just going to eat your favourite bit of dinner and leave your veges. Do as suggested - cut down the amount of food. Don't leave the bikkies all day. Feed your dog what YOU want to feed. Leave that down for 20 minutes. Pick it back up and don't feed him again until the same time next day Be STRONG! And if he really doesn't touch his food (ie NOTHING) after 4 days, check out more medical options whether there are digestion problems or a dental issue. Good luck
-
45cents at Coles - but every time I go to get them, they are sold out! Damn dog people! Taurine is not an issue for dogs (unless they have a medical problem). The problem is feeding dog food to cats as there's not enough taurine in dog food for the cats!
-
I think there is one major point that you have missed - HE EATS HIS BONE AT LUNCHTIME!! When I feed my dogs a good meaty bone, they get nothing else that day. Meaty bones are very filling and give the dogs everthing they desire in a meal - something to chew on and keep them occupied, taps into those "wild dog" instincts and to top that off - nutrition that's presented in the best possible way! I would suggest that you try to be tough again and either feed the kibble and barf or the bone on any given day - he is eating his favourite thing and leaving the rest! Smart dog! Good luck! ETA. If you think he has a medical problem, do check it out but it sounds like the vet is ok with his weight and general health.

Thankyou all for sharing your experiences and knowledge - extremely interesting

Sorry patch - you keep posting when I am as well! :D So the tilt seems to be inner ear ie balance and not the vision?
-
Thankyou Patch Were the strokes caused by his degenerative nerve condition or vice versa? (Or was it unrelated?) I know cats are resilient creatures - they don't have nine lives for nothing :D - but I just wasn't sure how well dogs would cope in a similar scenario.
-
Thanks for the feedback Scarlet. Sounds like he has still recovered within boundaries though which is great :D Is the tilt caused by his vision (does he have a blown pupil as well) ??
-
I'm asking this question out of curiousity as recently my old cat had a stroke. Her head was tilted and she has a blown pupil. The vet pronounced that she was still extremely healthy for her age (18yrs) and as long as I didn't mind a cat with a tilted head, she was good to go home :D Said she would probably be seeing things upside down out of one eye hence the tilt but that it may improve over time. The tilt came right after about 5 days and although still old and grey, she managed to catch a mouse yesterday A good luck story I know but I am interested to know if dogs can recover from a stroke in a similar manner?

With the positive Nutro feedback from some folks listed here, it sounds like it's an email problem or perhaps Australia Post? Any number of reasons and while I do understand the frustrations, there will be a reason behind it Have any of the unhappy peope contacted Hazz or Hesapandabear yet?
-
Sorry to hear you have been having problems getting your Nutro. Have you tried PMing Hesapandabear? Hesa has quite a bit to do with both Nutro and is now stocking Ziwipeak Perhaps she can help? Nutro is a small brand (but yes, very good!) and is not stocked by many places so perhaps give them the benefit of the doubt for the time being There may be import problems or just plain stockist issues.
