  1. There will be approximately 50 TIBETAN TERRIERS at their very first specialty show at Castle Hill on Sunday :p I wish I could have been there........ Still, if anyone is interested, it'll be the most TTs in one place ever in in Australia
  2. Same old, same old for this year!
  3. Does anyone have some good youtube links then? I wouldn't mind learning how to AI as well.
  4. My puppy purchasers who did have the occasion to use the insurance *did* still have to pay the vet bill up front. Then with the vet report, they were able to make their claim and were paid out very quickly. If you are a breeder who uses the Pet Plan, ensure you keep a copy when you get to "that" particular page of the online entry so you have a record. My puppy purchasers couldn't find their papers for the insurance and luckily I had kept the copy - the company won't process the claim without the special ID number given to each puppy.
  5. I do think it's quite it's quite ridiculous that the VCA gets THEIR fees still but the poor old exhibitors don't get the entry fee back!! :D That is really unfair... Geez - may as well give up showing in Summer
  6. Another for Pet Plan here..... :D I have it as part of my puppy pack - a little paperwork/computer work but well worth it imho. As a breeder it costs you nothing. Your own dogs do not have to be registered with Pet Plan nd you cannot get the free 6 weeks cover for puppies you are keeping yourself. They contact new puppy owner via email or phone when the 6 weeks is nearly up to see if they would like to continue with the pet insurance. After the cost of 2nd vaccinations and desexing, puppy buyers start to realise how much vets cost Only one of my puppy buyers has ever had to use to use it -for a pup who picked up gastro after 2 weeks - emergency vets and a 2 day stay in "hospital"....the new owners words were "bless you for providing that insurance policy" !! Just as a note to this, I always have a written veterinary health check from my vets for each puppy - so they have their own little "I AM HEALTHY" note for the insurance company and their new vet as well. It covers heart, temp, eyes, patellas, testicles, teeth and general health.
  7. WOW! Chow babies must be SO clean! Actually, I only have to drive to a Brisbane show and need everything I suggested.....
  8. 10 yrs and yes, they are strict about it.
  9. Contact the travel provider for your puppy and they can tell you EXACTLY where you have to go to pick up your pup. :D Expect a complete mess LOL! Go prepared to clean up poop and vomit (bags, baby wipes, towels etc) a big bottle of (bought) water - DO NOT give local water straight away! And a lead to take your bubba for a wee walk before you get in the car. Hope it all goes well for you and your pup!
  10. I'm a meanie LOL ;) No mucking around.... Open up, straight down the back of the throat, close the mouth and rub the throat - simple, easy and you know they've got the drug they need. :p Oh, also another hint is blow gently into the nostrils while the mouth is held closed. :p I do give a treat afterwards but for some reason, the dogs prefer to run behind the couch rather than have a treat :D :D
  11. Moreton Bay Region: $78 for an entire dog and if your a CCC member, it's $63 for an entire dog.....per year. I haven't got it to hand but I printed out the prices the other day - to register a Dangerous Dog/Restricted Breed it's approx. $370 a year!!!! Desexed dogs do get it better - about $25 a year. ;)
  12. Beat me to it Silverblue..... "believed to be a Pit Bull cross Staffordshire" in the news report I saw....thought it was interesting that they actually said "Staffordshire".
  13. Thanks Dellcara. I I don't see how a Neuter Champion is "contrary" to in any way?
  14. No joke....... It's not really for me as I've not got neutered dogs but I really think it's a great idea to pet people involved or for retired champions to have a bit of fun. It's a shame...that's all. I'll see if I can cut and paste from my dogblog.
  15. If all dogs get their puppy vaccinations, then 14 month vaccination and then titre testing as recommended and a further vaccination at the 3yr mark, would the same premise apply as to any other dog? Why would maternal antibodies behave any differently? Either the bitch has antibodies or not? Would it be prudent to test the level of antibodies via titre testing for the bitch prior to breeding if you weren't prepared to vaccinate yearly? Not quite sure what you're trying to get across? I'm interested though
  16. I was reading the new "dogblog" sent out to Dogs QLD members and it stated that there will be no classes offered for Neuter Champion title in QLD! Apparently it's against our code or something..............
  17. Dracdog - I've seen this advertised on the dog blog thingo but what are the criteria?? Can't they just put the criteria onto the dogblog so everyone knows what to do??!
  18. If you go in the morning through to about 3pm, you get to see all the breeds entered for the day. If you went in the later afternoon, you would only get to see the people who hung around before leaving the venue - the gates are supposed to open for exhibitors to leave at 5pm but they will often open the gates a bit earlier if judging is finished for the day so everyone goes home. Just check the schedule link provided and plan your day according to which breeds you want to see and get there before lunchtime I'll be there on Saturday 10th with the Havanese It's also Baby Puppy Sweepstakes which is going to be SOOOO CUTE!
  19. GAWD! Must've missed this but then again, I don't go trawling the RSPCA websites or check the doggy news - too busy looking after my dogs actually! Send me your letter please Lilli.
  20. Pyjamas in pink and green stripes no less!! Got to hand it to you Troy - Fashion week can eat it's tin foil hat! Oh me too Next year maybe our lanyards and a sticky if we want to have our DOL name?? I would have been game enough to introduce myself to heaps more people!
  21. AWESOME night guys! MDBA should be so proud of its own achievements - a really fantastic event ! I was a bit "lost" LOL and I wish everyone had their user names on so I could figure out who was who - but I did meet a few FAB people (and DOLers) and had a yummy dinner. Mains were excellent by the way.......... 2 of the BIGGEST CONGRATS need to go to Troy - such a well-deserved award, Troy - as in my dodgy speech LOL - you changed my life And to a gorgeous lil girl who wrote a very special article and introduced the plight of rescue dogs to hundreds of people -- well done CHLOE! Thanks MDBA - next year is going to be HUGE!!
  22. Ohhhhhhh....what's this all about??
  23. OK Jed - you know all these answers........what's the catch here?
  24. Yes - both these breeds do better in a home environment rather than being left to their own devices in the backyard Get him a poodle statue to look at in the backyard and rehome the dog where it will be loved.
  25. Good result Zensu but for all the kindness in the world - why should you be the one to have to clean up their mess?? And seriously - it IS going to happen again - these people need some education. Now..........what to do about that PUPPY they've still got there........
