Why the eyerolling? Do you think it might be a reminder to vaccinate - marketing?
-
There are often individual cases reported but if the vet says it's an outbreak then perhaps you should contact them and ask which area? And then let us know! My vet told me last year that there were several suburbs in and around Brisbane which had reports of parvo but I didn't hear anything about it other than what she told me.

Yep - does keep all the nasties at bay :D I *have* to have a product that does ticks and the only time my dogs get insect bites is when they are due for their Advantix. It's not for everyone but the product has been a godsend for me and my dogs. Maybe try another product with the proper warning labels or at least a company contact number?

That sure is a fair whack!! A friend just got her PREGNANT bitch desexed and it cost just under$500.......that's a totally over-the-top amount and you've gotta wonder if they put in gold stitching! ;)

If Early Early Signs Of Pregnancy Indicate Large Litters.
t-time replied to Kaffy Magee's topic in Breeders Community
Not about numbers in litters necessarily, but up until today I was absolutely positively SURE my girl was pregnant since the week of her mating.....everything in her attitude and temperament had changed, she was certainly more "maternal" - less puppy-like jumping around, morning sickness, pot belly, boobs starting up - THE WORKS ...... But even though I would've SWORN she was pregnant on the weekend - I can't be so sure today I *do* think she's reabsorbed in the last few days. Large numbers become more obvious earlier in the pregnancy imho. ;) -
I use Advantix for ticks and fleas - it is considered safe to use on pregnant bitches and repels insects full stop. Most products do have the pamphlet inside the box with information about use during pregnancy.

Hi All, Got a friend whose Mum wants a Golden - my friend would also like to show the pup so I'm after recommendations for breeders, preferably in SE QLD (so that the Mum can meet the pup and possibly sire & dam, prior to purchase). These are experienced dog people but new to the show world. PM please. Cheers, t-time

Are Our Breeds Changing As Our Needs Are Changing?
t-time replied to RufusTheDoofus's topic in General Dog Discussion
With either of these cases, a Lhasa Apso or a Havanese are perfect purebred alternatives. :D Sure Hav availability is low but no excuses when it comes to Lhasas. -
What a ridiculous situation. Second/third/fourth the suggestion of cabbage leaves - works wonders - and also try and supervise pups suckling from the nipple as long as the milk from that nipple is not "off". The suckling will ease the pressure of the engorgement. If the milk looks bad (wrong colour or blood in it) don't encourage suckling from that nipple but the other nipples should still be ok. Try milking the affected nipple just to take the pressure off - don't empty it and if the pups do suckle from it, don't let them empty it either - just enough to ease the pressure and stimulate regular milk supply. If you are desperate you can water down infant formula (there is usually a "lactose-free" brand available) or you can use warmed, watered-down Evaporated milk (in a tin) to keep them going until you can pick up proper animal formula. Or try and buy commercial Goat Milk from the regular dairy section of your grocery store or as suggested because of where you live - a local goat farmer. Do start your bitch on the antibiotics available to you and see the vet on Monday when you are able - Clavulox is the regular antibiotic prescribed. Mastitus hurts like hell (I know from personal experience!) but extra care and attention should pull your girl and her pups through the tough patch - the antibiotics do work quickly so in a few days everything should improve for you :D

Thanks Panda.

Just need to know how many entries there were yesterday?

AND let his breeder know this has happened and that you have a vet report to prove it.

Laser Lites No More Stains - Anyone Used It?

Yeah - and your money back!!! :D Geezus!! Don't put that stuff on my dog!! -
Ooooh COOL! Hope I win something to get a pic!

Some KY or vseline or anything that will lubricate his penis without stinging - and very gently massage the penis back into the sheath. Sounds gross (and very sexual) but he will be SO grateful

Another reason that going to a registered breeder is GOLD ;) All my pups are taught to be dried from day dot - first bath at about 3-4 weeks and they get used to hearing the dryer as soon as their ears open 'cos the other dogs have to be done. Even though they usually don't need a bath, they are bathed once a week from then until they go to their new homes and hear the blowdryer every second day. Certainly helps to desensitise little ones and make it easier for new owners. Not saying it's 100% effective but all those extra experiences help with a breed who will always have to be bathed and dried.

How old is the dog? And how long have they had the dog? I'm assuming it's not a puppy.... Sounds like this is a classic case of a dog not being suitable for the new family so the breeder should just take back the dog and give back the money paid for it. Is the owner in the same city as the breeder? Perhaps if they are far away from one another, this is why she's asked the current owners to rehome? ie dog would have normally been full price but the breeder sold half price in return for studs. So selling the dog at full price does not seem unreasonable - however - the breeder should only get half of the full price...

LOL Hogz - a very unique marketing ploy ;) -
I think they've only just managed to get the results up Havasneeze! But is it Nahejma who is doing the pics this year? You could just try typing that in your search engine? (Or ask BMP )

Pet Health Insurance As Part Of Puppy Packs
t-time replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in Breeders Community
Yep - good to hear Fordogs. Pretty sure there would be nothing wrong with the second puppy either LOL - hopefully the owners will see that their chosen vet is ripping them off just because they've got the insurance! -
Agreed Becks ;) I would be importing from the UK if it was that cheap!! After meeting my dogs, my sister was desperate for Hav when she returned to the UK. She contacted loads of *special* breeders who came up with cheaper prices but then found out it was actually a new Nigerian scam going around! They were targeting rare breeds particularly which was interesting - she reported it to the police and now she wants a Bichon Frise because Havanese are too expensive!!...... Relatives!! I have PMd Flip so she does know the average price for a pup and also pointed her towards the Breed Pages. EVERY Havanese breeder in the country is on DOL Breed Pages so those are the only options.

Breed Suggestions For A Child/teenage Owner
t-time replied to Jodi1981's topic in General Dog Discussion
Why don't you use the next 2 years as your daughters' traineeship seeing as you have a young Cavalier sitting there?? You might decide on another Cavalier or else your daughter might decide that having "her own" dog is a lot of work! LOL As for breed suggestions, funnily enough I was thinking a Swedish Vallhund would be a good idea too! Or a Tibetan Spaniel? -
Laser Lites No More Stains - Anyone Used It?
t-time replied to BittyMooPeeb's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sas - I think you must have missed some of the thread - it's the new green crystal stuff they are having problems with Perhaps it is a new formula? Dunno but either way it sounds like it doesn't work! Guys, I'm wondering if it's the right stuff in the right packaging? :D Did Laserlites or Petcetera confirm it is supposed to be green crystals? Just a thought.... And with all the troubles, I'd be asking for a refund. -

Pet Health Insurance As Part Of Puppy Packs
t-time replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in Breeders Community
Also sorry to hear this story Fordogs but under the circumstances - surely that was more about the vet rather than the insurance company? I think under those circumstances, I would have recommended a second opinion?
