  1. Sorry @Rebanne. Not Applaws. Looks like our posts went off at the same time.
  2. https://www.traveller.com.au/british-airways-accidentally-flies-pet-dog-to-saudi-arabia-instead-of-us-h28u85 This dog spent 63 hours travelling. Most of it in the cargo hold of the plane. The poor dog is now a basket case and is on medication for anxiety.
  3. Absolutely agree with all @tdierikx has said above. Take the dog & pups to a vet ASAP.
  4. My 12 yr old Giant had oral cancer soft tissue. We went to our local vet who removed the lump and gave the dog 3 months to live. We then immediately proceeded to Small Animal Specialist Hospital where the dog was tested for her suitability to receive a special vaccine for Melanoma. Fortunately the cancer had not spread and with the vaccine she lived for another 4 years until she was over 16 and something entirely unrelated took her out.
  5. I posted this article in case anyone else might be in the same sad circumstance and so they would be aware that this could happen again.

  8. These dogs were acting aggressively and hadn't bitten anyone .....yet. And they were shot immediately. The Police didn't take any chances. Owning these type of dogs is permanent chancing with people and other dogs. Councils should be stricter with compliance and enforcement.
  9. And it was a tragedy of HIS own making. To say "It was just a tragedy , that's all" and admitting he knew which of the dogs was the MOST aggressive tells me it was more than a tragedy. It was a tragedy that was absolutely preventable .
  10. I'm guessing but the dogs were probably in the friend's yard for a reason i.e. in case of a council visit because they had already been reported to council for something else. Or had already been declared as Dangerous Dogs. Absolutely it is a tragedy but it is a tragedy that could have been prevented if the dogs had been properly secured.

  13. @asal A significant percentage of the population appear to be fully fledged Bogans and they definitely don't care about anything except themselves. So no surprise the dogs are not registered or micro chipped. But if these dogs came from rescue shelters wouldn't the rescue organisation micro chip the dogs before they were handed over to new owners.

  17. We had a postie that used to carry treats with him as well. But seriously how hard is it to keep the dogs locked up if you are expecting a parcel. There are a lot of irresponsible dog owners out there.

  22. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11499847/Brave-Georgia-sheepdog-recovering-killing-eight-coyotes-tried-maul-flock-sheep-goats.html He needs another Maremma (or other) to help him out. That's going the extra mile for sure. What a brave loyal dog.
  23. The owners of such dogs should contact the Utility Companies concerned and ask to be informed what date they will need access to the property to read the meter so they can lock their dogs away or put them inside the house. The Energy Company or any Company that reads the meter should inform such properties in writing when their contractor will need to enter the property. I can remember receiving such letters requesting access when I kept my front gate locked for safety reasons. That was prior to privatisation of our Utilities. In any case most contractors when they can't get access or are worried about dogs usually do an average reading for that property.
