  2. Be like one of my dog walking friends. When she was younger she always had deerhounds. She was in her 80's when she got another one. He absolutely dwarfed her but they made a great pair Peggy & Hector.
  3. Otterhound or Barbet neither available in Australia and Irish wolfhound or Deehound except too many health problems and very short life spans. So I am stuck with a Giant Schnauzers and a Black Russian Terrier instead.
  4. I also like Applaws which you can buy at Woollies. Here is the Australian Pet Food Review for Applaws. https://www.petfoodreviews.com.au/applaws-dog-food-review/

  6. We usually call time when they stop eating and don't want to go for walks or can't walk. In any case it's a difficult decision even when you are expecting it.
  7. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-02-21/did-your-dog-dig-in-asbestos-here-are-the-risks/103492464 This is a big deal deal in Sydney at the moment. The EPA has found a lot of asbestos in mulch in various dog parks.

  9. The difference is with amstaffs and pitbulls is when they attack they do more damage than other dogs due to their jaws and how they can latch on.
  10. I imagine there are a lot of Pitbulls sold as American Staffies. Particularly on Gumtree.

  16. In my experience a sincere apology can often prevent a complaint being made to Council.
  17. I would say the problem here is the staffy owner's attitude. Obviously the escapes were reported to Council in a desperate bid to have the matter resolved. An apology goes a long way with other dog owners when you' and your dog are in the wrong.
  18. Huge elevated sense of self entitlement. Thinking they can win the case because the wrong time was recorded. I see a lot of these FW's and their dogs in my area of Inner Sydney. I avoid them like the plague. It's never their or their dog's fault when something goes wrong. And their dogs are always off the leash on public streets because they're so special they don't need a leash. The obsession about the time definitely indicates what we are dealing with here.
  19. It might be one of those leashes that goes around the persons waist and connects to a harness on the dog.
  20. @Sandrake Did you read the NSW Animal Companion Act? If as you say Council "don't reason with you" what do you think your chances are of winning this case. I would say zero.
  21. It doesn't matter if the 1st escape was an accident. You can still be fined for it because it's an offence under the NSW Animal Companion Act.
  22. When this happened to my dogs a couple of years ago because 2 dogs kept escaping and running across the road to attack my dogs the Ranger fined the owners $1500 , Plus another fine for the dogs not being registered with council. It kept happening and the dogs were fined again and noted as Nuisance Dogs with council.

  24. I agree with all of the above comments. Plus do you really want to draw attention to yourself and put yourself permanently on the council's radar. I have no doubt the dog will escape again as you don't seem to realise the seriousness of your dog running loose and rushing towards other dogs. Especially a staffy.
