  1. For the last couple of weeks we have noticed these little waxy/puss droplets on Lilly's rump and tail - they are not occuring anywhere else. They are not bothering her at all, and we just pull them off but we have no idea what they are or why she is getting them. It is like pimples are popping all over the area but we can't find any evidence of pimples or pustules on her skin. When we pull them off they are hard but I found one this morning that was still soft. Anyone seen them before?
  2. Patch only needs a bath once a month or so, Oscar tends to get done once every couple of weeks. Eventually Lilly will probably be done once a month too but we are still getting her skin right since she arrived with us so she is getting moisturising baths every couple of weeks.
  3. Oh Kaz I am so so sorry to read this Xander was such a beautiful big man that I know you loved immensely
  4. 4 Paws on here has a hydrobath as she baths 2 of mine - I don't know if she clips though as greyhounds require very little clipping
  5. So Orijen is not going to be available anymore? I have enough to last me a while (I bought a new bag just a couple of weeks ago) - though I am not sure whether I should keep going with the bag. I can't wait till I can find a food I am happy with and that doesn't get discontinued. We were on Nutro prior to Orijen. My lot all look great and love Orijen - they do get the occasional runny poo and farty episodes (seriously, how can the smallest dog make the biggest smell???) but seemed to be doing really well on it. They tried a sample of Artemis a while ago and turned up their noses.

Oh Karen I am so sorry. I have no words but I am thinking of you
  7. I might switch Oscar over to adult orijen permanently then - he definitely prefers it.
  8. I have wondered this. Oscar actually prefers the adult food and so I have to separate them so they each eat their own food (Patch likes the puppy food). Sometimes I can't keep them separate and so they with eat out of each others bowls.
  9. I shouldn't laugh but ;) I can just picture a pug waddling and rattling as he walked Oscar is hopeless, we are constantly getting rocks and sticks off him, he manages to find them anywhere. We have only had once instance where he has vomitted one up, we try to get them off him as soon as we see it. He has oodles of toys and things, but just has a facination for anything he can chew.
  10. Yep its a puppy thing - Oscar's ears are nearly settled into their proper positions as he is nearly finished teething
  11. Glad to hear things are better already :D Hope you have some luck with those names I gave you.
  12. Could you please? recommend someone to me? Absolutely - will send you a message now
  13. I suggest getting her to a puppy school - you said you are in Albion Park - I am in Wollongong and can recommend some to you. This will give her some socialisation with other dogs and people and give her some confidence. There are some trainers to avoid and some good ones around to. Dont be disheartened, it will just take some work to get her to become a great companion
  14. We found a mole on Patch's tummy on Saturday night that was very dark but bright red around it. Booked straight into the vet on Monday morning who said he thinks he has irritated it as it has some crusty bits on it. Got some drops to put on twice a day. He is booked back in for next Tuesday to get it checked again. If it doesn't fall off then he would remove it. We looked this morning and it is looking even nastier. It seems to have spread or sort of squished (but it wasn't very raised to begin with) - still very red around it and it is looking very black. I don't know if I am being overly paranoid and this is the process it goes through before it falls off, but the vet nurse suggested I bring him back in this afternoon. The fact it has changed in just a couple of days though is freaking me out.
  15. Wish it would stop the wind in my two! Oscar especially - such a small dog, such a big stink!
  16. 4Paws here on the forum gets the honour of bathing Patch in her hydrobath He is hilarious - he loves her, yet hates everything about the bath - I have to lift him in. His legs shake so badly that when he leans against the bath, the whole thing shakes. Yet once it is all over he is as happy as larry :nahnah: (cause then it is treat time)

    Crate Training

We just could not get Oscar to sleep more than 2 hours in his crate - it went on for 6 weeks or so. Eventually we caved and let him in bed with us - but given that we can't fit Patch on the bed too, it really isn't fair. We are about to go back to putting him in his crate in our room tonight - so back to no sleep again  We tried everything - hot water bottle, rewards, toys, blankets, stuff that smelled like us, nothing worked.
  18. Oh Fifi I am so very sorry Tamsyn was a beautiful girl
  19. Thats great ;) We are still, after 2 months, tearing our hair out with Oscar. Crate training him at night just has not worked. Admittedly we let him in the bed because we had 6 weeks of next to 0 sleep. He would literally scream all night! He is a dog who needs company, whether it is from us or from Patch, however we do know he is largely trying it on, but he has got to the point where he hates the crate (but will travel in a crate with little to no fuss). Last night we popped him into his bed next to us, blocking him off from the rest of the room (so he didn't wander and annoy Patch) and he was much better. He did wake up a few times but settled quickly in his bed again. We are hoping this is a solution that will work for us. Sorry to steal your thread, but we made the same mistake of letting Henschke sleep with us. The result? He was over dependent on us and would howl anytime if left alone. (And one of the reasons that attracted me to the breed was their 'independent' nature!) We got around it by making the crate a fun place to be and also it's placed next to the bed. So if he whinges, I put my hand down and he sniffs and then settles for the night. We have also created a puppy pen - that was much harder than the crate! It's taken almost 2 weeks of 'training'. Again, this was made to be the best place in the whole world! By feeding, playing, cuddling, etc he's now at the stage that when he's in there he knows that he won't be let out until WE say it's time, not him. (This has taken a bit longer than what I've said, so if you're interested in knowing what we did, PM me and I'll fill you in.) Oscar has a puppy pen where he goes when we go out - he goes in happily and settles easily. He is a clingy dog - whether it is for us or Patch, but can be left alone at the same time - he's a strange one! Would love some tips, and we need to get back to making the crate a wonderful place to be, but at the moment we are enjoying our sleep ;)
  20. Thats fantastic! We have tried everything, hot water bottle, clock, toys, having him next to me etc etc. He just gets himself worked up into such a state. We know we are supposed to let him cry but surely night after night of stress is not good for him.

  22. We won't be able to make it this morning. Have to take the little foxy that is in the garage to the vets to scan for a chip. now why didn't I think of that excuse:laugh: It's not my patch blown down your way is it? I'm trying to think of something as to why we can't go,so tired this morning could well have been. Did you get a call this morning from Dapto vets?

  24. Nope - outdoors! If it is like this tomorrow morning we may give it a miss. We live in Dapto and it is icy at the moment.
