Vent - 2 Unleashed Dogs On Our Walk Tonight
CBL replied to MsKatie's topic in General Dog Discussion
A similar thing happened to me recently - but the size was reversed. I was going for a run with my iggy, we came to a major road and I saw a big X breed out the front of its house with his owners - no collar, no lead. He saw us and immediately ran hell for leather across the busy road at us. The woman behind screaming 'he's friendly, he's friendly...' I didn't know whether to pick Oscar up (and in hind sight I should have - but I was worried about it encouraging the dog more) but instead poor Oscar circled around me while the other dog followed. No he didn't attack my dog, but they had absolutely no control over him (the male owner had to come and carry the 30+kg dog home). Stupid woman just kept telling me he was friendly, and I pointed out how easily her dog could have been hit by a car. She then even had the nerve to want to pat my terrified iggy! -
My heart sank when I read the heading too I am so sorry Dotty, what a shock and what a terrible loss :D
-
I went along today to specifically to see the greys and the iggies but there were so many beautiful breeds being shown - i was a great day to watch :D
-
yep will be there on Thursday 1st, there are at least 10 greyhounds entered! Hope they all show up It will be awesome to see so many greys there. And I hope I can steal a Fern cuddle afterwards yeah you can be mugged loved by Fern any time. No fancy hairdo's to mess up Excellent! I will try and restrain myself by yelling 'OMG its Fern' when she is in the ring :D

My Patch had a mole removed on his belly on Monday too. His stitches are only about 5 cm long though! He has milked it for all its worth Aside from breakfast, he didn't move from his couch yesterday until about 4:30 when I got some cheese from the fridge He was out and over to me like lightning... Hope your man feels better soon - Patch sends his sympathies.

Same as us - it easily fits 2 greyhounds and Oscar is his crate in the back.

Dog Snaps / Bites The Air When Excited
CBL replied to Pete.the.dog's topic in General Dog Discussion
Lilly is a mouther, she will gently (usually) grab you on the hand or arm - we try to discourage it though. She will also flea us when she is really excited too. Patch is a teeth chatterer - so when he gets really excited his teeth chatter together -
They are too cute! I love them. Just need to wait for a greyhound/iggy one
-
I think Friends of the Hound (www.friendsofthehound.org.au) are around that area and there is also GAP NSW and the newer NSW GRA greyhound group.
-
Yes my machine is like that - just doesn't shift the hair, just seems to move it around and spread it onto previously unhairy items . Both the greyhounds seem to constantly be leaving hair everywhere (I must give them a brush) and the iggy's hair is so so short, but spikey and gets stuck in things.

Oscar is some what crate- trained. We tried for well over a month to crate-train him 'fully' (so he slept in a crate esp. at night). He just would not do it. After a sleepless month OH made the mistake of saying 'just pop him in the bed for a bit' :D Oscar now sleeps in a bed next to ours and, sometime during the night, pops himself up and under the covers with us (the OH isn't happy about it, but he was the one who started it). We did the puppy pen thing when he was small and we went out of the house and he also travels in a crate in the car happily but we were just never able to make that next step to sleeping happily in a crate.

12 Yr Old Golden Retreiver Coughing Up Blood
CBL replied to indigirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've only just seen this and read the whole thread with my heart in my mouth. I remember you talking about Reg so lovingly previously Sending all our love and strength to the gorgeous boy -
What terrible news Run free Rocco you gorgeous boy

Patch is very much a sooky greyhound boy, but Lilly is just not what I thought a bitch would be. She's extremely affectionate (too much at times), sweet and a bundle of fun - and she also has to be with you all the time. If I go out to put washing on the line she has to come along. She does have her 'bitch' moments with Oscar - she won't share a toy whereas Patch will play tug of war with Oscar all the time but she will tell Oscar off if he tries to play like that with her. Oscar gets called a girl all the time (and he can be a little wuss). One obedience instructor constantly referred to Oscar as 'she', I would have thought the name alone would have been an indicator :dunno: I guess being little and prancy he could be mistaken for a girl.

We have multiple beds for each dog Outside there are 2 mats and 3 trampoline beds. Inside there are 2 cheap brand dog beds in the lounge room and a snooza blanket bed (Oscar loves to be convered). In our bedroom Oscar has a small bed (though he invariably sneaks into ours) and there is a huge bed on the floor for whichever of the other 2 decides to sleep there (usually Lilly). Plus another small dog bed for Oscar and 2 seater couch exclusively for the dogs in the study (were the other grey will sleep). We also cover the couches and the dogs are allowed to use them too.

I'm so sorry for your loss Rozzie Abbey sounds like an amazing girl. Hang on to the many wonderful memories of her.

I've joined the facebook page and have sent it through to heaps of people

Oscar comes with me (and does it alot easier than I do too). He seems to keep the same iggy prancing pace out the front of me regardless of whether I am walking or jogging. He only pees when he is out and about if he is absolutely desperate but he has been known to stop dead to sniff something on the ground and send me leaping over the top of him

Is It Normal That Luuka Sleeps W Her Tongue Out?
CBL replied to FranVT's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yep that's a greyhound thing, their tongues never quite fit in their mouths -

Run Free Little Bebe, Free Of Pain At Last
CBL replied to Her Majesty Dogmad's topic in Rainbow Bridge
I'm so sorry Jane Enjoy the tea at Rainbow Bridge Bebe -
2 of my 3 love catching insects, though once they stop moving they usually loose interest. Lilly will spend sometimes spend a good hour of a night outside chasing buggies. Oscar recently came inside and was scratching around his mouth, looking very uncomfortable. I took a look and found a big christmas beetle holding on to the roof of his mouth for dear life He managed to dislodge it himself and I took the beetle back outside.

GW you obviously needed to put different coloured collars on each of them so you can tell who is who...
