  1. How wonderful! Hope there is an increase in interest for all the rescues involved (and rescues in general).
  2. All fingers, toes and paws crossed for you here Di
  3. I thought you were getting someone to make them but i wasn't sure if it was still happening Oscar loves his snuggle sack that I got through etsy. He doesn't always snuggle inside it but he uses it as an extra thick blanket. I'll be ordering him lots of goodies through iggy rescue soon

    Yoshi

I'm so sorry Peibe. What a wonderful bird Yoshi was
  5. This? Wow that looks brilliant! Oscar has both a snuggle sack and one of the snoozer snuggle beds. He would love that one - if only I could justify $200 for another bed for him. SBT if you can make one cheaper you would be my hero
  6. Nope - my guys would be horrified if I tried to make them walk in the rain Iggies and greys are very precious you know

    Leo

Oh no Kirsty I am so sorry Rest peacefully Leo
  8. I probably wouldn't recommend an iggy in this situation - not because they are delicate (my guy is hardier than he looks) but they need to be whereever you are and most likely wouldn't cope being segregated from the family for any length of time. Mine would throw a tantrum if I tried to keep him out of a bedroom I think they would be more clingy than the OP is looking for. As a greyhound lover I would think they are a good match too - except for the hour run - my iggy would enjoy that more than my greys However, some don't like the look (and the iggy has a similar look), just as the OP doesn't like the look of a poodle. I will admit that from a distance I originally thought they were not particularly attractive dog, but one meeting had me hooked :D
  9. I couldn't believe it when he caught not one, but then 2 of them! I assumed the first one was a fluke ;) I was awake for most of the first night paranoid that he was going to vomit up mouse.
  10. We have had a few recently in the house - they are getting in the bird cages and drive the dogs crazy. I have had a few nights when the dogs continually want to get up and go out to the back room to stalk them (they are blocked off from there of a night). We have caught a couple in the round traps (the mortein ones) and have them scattered around the place but Patch the greyhound has become the mouse-killer After numerous nights of trying to catch them he has honed his technique and has caught 2 in the last week or so. He waits for them to pop out of the bird cage and anticipates which way they will run. I hate it but the mice are dead with one snap - and he gobbles them up too. Not bad for a one-eyed dog! Though after he catches one he is up and down for the rest of the night wanting to go after the others. I'd never use sticky traps or poisons - and I hate that I do kill them but at least so far they have gone very quickly.
  11. Oscar goes into the bath and I use a hand held attachment on him. Patch and Lilly go to visit 4 Paws and she washes them in her hydrobath for me Reminds me - I can't remember the last time they had a bath
  12. Well if thats not the best news I have heard on a Monday morning... So great to hear you are well on your way to complete recovery Jed.
  13. Not all greyhounds ... GAP greyhounds wearing their green collar don't need to wear a muzzle in public. This is only in some states - not NSW - they still must all be muzzled. As a greyhound owner I am especially devastated by this event What hope do we in NSW have of getting the laws changed if idiots like this are so irresponsible ?

    Greyhound

Obedience is a good thing (though don't always expect too much from a grey - some learn how to sit but mine never did master it ) - and definitely take the advice from GAP. They of course specialise in greys so know all the methods to try for the best result.

    Greyhound

Sounds like the dog is establishing itself as leader of the pack - its pushing the boundaries and getting away with it. They need to get a handle on it ASAP. I would suggest contacting GAP for some advice as well as getting recommendations for a behaviourist to come and give an assessment. Patch tried it on with us a couple of times very early on - just growling, he never lunged. He got pulled off the couch or whatever he was on - a tap on the bum and that was it. Also get a water pistol/spray. I just have to give the water a shake and my guys know to hop off whatever they are on (if the voice command doesn't work first time). A short spray of water works wonders with us.
  16. I've posted on your FB already but Di I am just so sorry. I loved hearing stories about Bobby, he was such a funny old man. I know how an iggy can worm his way into your heart. Big hugs Di.
  17. I don't know what to say. It just devastating to read that Magnus (and so many of her babies) has gone We were all clinging to the hope of finding him as something positive to come out of this tragedy. Sending all my strength to Jed
  18. that did it for me too. Oscar is very confused as to why I all of a sudden gave him a massive cuddle and he tried to lick my tears
  19. Remember with Italians and Whippets (and greys as I think they may suit too) - they can't be let off leash in an unsecured area. My italian is much more high energy than my greys. The greys love a walk a couple of times a week, the iggy prefers everyday. But provided they are not let offlead I would think an iggy could suit your mum. They bond very closely to their owners and are real snuggle bugs - mine has to sleep under the doona (oh - and did I mention demanding....).
  20. Jed was first in my thoughts this morning when I woke up and I was hoping Magnus would be found overnight. Everything crossed here that he comes home today. All of you involved directly in helping Jed have my utmost admiration - you are doing an amazing thing for an amazing lady.
  21. I only know Jed through her posts here and I am in shock. Much love and healing vibes to her and her family. I just don't know what to say.
  22. OH had rules when we got Oscar - he is not sleeping in our bedroom. OK first night he slept in the lounge room, on top of my OH. Then it was - he can sleep in his crate in our bedroom - however after 4 months of no sleep because of a crying puppy he said 'just put him in the bed'. We all slept like babies. Since then, OH has protested and protested that Oscar needs to get out of our bed - somehow it is my fault and I am the one who has to solve the problem. Oscar starts off in his own bed but, sometime during the night he sneaks in under the covers :D. Lilly and Patch will sometimes come in and try to get up but they are usually heard before they can manage to sneak in. I am the one who gets up during the night to let them all out to the toilet, to me, having a small dog in the bed is the least of my worries.
  23. I have never seen a dog wearing a muzzle when I am there.
  24. Well done Paige What a wonderful result. I was thrilled to see Fern, Paige and Miller go round the ring at Royal too.
  25. I didn't get to see you Fern and Miller were good little doggies but no wins. Big thanks to Bilbo Baggins for hound holding and to Bilbo Baggins Junior for her video work I did see you :D But you were busy etc and I didn't want to interupt. I managed to catch Shantiah and said a quick hello to her early on. Fern, Miller and Paige all looked stunning I laughed when Miller kept leaning on you when you were stacking him
