Aww beautiful bird Great shots!
-
Lilly loves to clean up the pellets that our birds drop around the place. As soon as she hears one turfing food out of her dish then she is there like a flash to get a feed.
-
Well if my credit card was going to get a workout then everyone elses had to as well I am still wishing I bought the extra big bed, but OH complains about the number of beds in our place already...
-
I got the large crate, a heated bed and a sleeping bag. Nearly got the big squishy bed too but I restrained myself

Just letting you all know that catchoftheday.com.au are featuring a range of pet products today

dogmad wrote a great piece on toilet training. Its on the iggy rescue website Oscar now taps the door when he wants to go out :D He just learned that by himself. Cant help but think we're doing something wrong.. I've toilet trained literally dozens of dogs and have never had one so stubborn about it Lol! I will definitely have a look at that article, thanks forl etting me know ;) . They can be difficult so don't worry - just have a read of dogmad's article and take it from there. They can be really stubborn buggers

My iggy barks if there is something to bark at - he won't usually bark at people walking past the front of the house but he will bark at the possum visiting in the backyard or at the neighbours if he sees them hanging their clothes on the line (that overlooks our yard). Still, it isn't a yap - I think he has quite a deep bark for a small dog. He is quite 'talkative' though. He will whinge if he wants something, wants to play with the greyhounds or is cold and wants to get covered up of a night. re toilet training - I actually didn't find Oscar particularly difficult - yes he had accidents but all puppies do. When it was raining was when it was most challenging, he doesn't like getting wet and still looks at me pathetically if it is raining and he needs to go.
-
Oscar the iggy is the only one of my 3 who drools. Its only occassionally when he must be really hungry but I am making him sit and wait for his dinner.

Jane I am so sorry and I am sorry I only just saw this. What a beautiful girl Sally was, and thank you for loving her and giving her such a wonderful home to live out her days in

Yep too late spottychick. I responded 1 minute after the email arrived in my inbox and I missed out ;)

Oh no griff! Don't beat yourself up too much - it is so easy to leave things within reach, I am sure we have all done it. Two of mine got into a packet of blackcurrant soothers recently!

Hubby and his mates decided they wanted to go in on a racing greyhound. I thought they were vicious, ugly dogs - he insisted I meet one. I did and I was in love - instantly. I then researched them and found out how easy and laid back they are and they were a great match for us. I have always been a 'big dog' person, but went to a local dog show, saw the iggies prance around the ring and again, totally smitten. Oscar is demanding, whingy and stubborn but I absolutely adore him - he is my little monkey - he doesn't know he is a small dog - he gives the big ones hell (and they let him). I can't picture life without greys and iggies - and thankfully hubby is the same.

Patch would chuck a tanty if we made him walk 30 mins every day! He puts the brakes on when he has had enough and refuses to walk any further after about 10 mins
-
My postie was initially a bit put off by 2 big dogs launching at the front door for cuddles Their size might be a deterrent but mine don't bark at people walking past (though bark when the guy down the road walks his greyhounds past the house). Why get off a bed if you are comfortable?
-
I'll admit I thought they were too until I met one - there is something about their eyes - you just fall in love Would never be without one or 2 now.
-
They can curl themselves up into tiny spaces My 2 are pretty tiny - Patch is 27.5 kgs and Lilly is only 22.5kgs. Aside from a 5pm zoomie they spend all day on a couch or bed.
-
Patch the greyhound has mastered the sigh
-
Ah yes - I have to do Oscar's nails tonight as they are disgraceful. Its always a battle, he hates it and after it won't come near me - even for food! Sighthounds are the masters of it, greys have this way of looking at you and you can feel their disappointment in you
-
I saw Oscar cock his leg maybe once before he was desexed at 6 months. He started doing it much more often once he turned about 1. He will usually squat but sometimes cock his leg against the fence at home. Patch has cocked his leg ever since we have had him (3 years) - he wasn't desexed till not long before we got him though. He doesn't pee when we are out and about though - I think I have seen him pee maybe twice when out on-lead and he obviously couldn't hold it in - in each case he squatted. Patch on the other hand will cock his leg on everything he can (and so we are pretty tough on letting him do it). I have stopped him just in time from cocking his leg on people's chairs and bags at cricket games
