  1. Agreed. But an undistressed dog enjoying autumn sunshine in his owners car for a short time on a mild day in Dunedoo (where the max temp for the day was probably less than 18), with the windows opened to let any excess heat out, is a very long way from a baby/child in dire straits. Children should never be left in cars alone, under any circumstances. Souff Never said any different
  2. that's exactly right. I mean it wasn't that hot - but even when its freezing i leave all the windows down. I just couldnt live with myself if something happened. I'm the kind of person who would smash a window to get a dog (or baby) out of the car if they seemed to be at ALL i distress. If you see a baby left in a car distressed or not, call the police immediately it is illegal. I'd smash a window in this instance, call an ambulance and then worry about the police much later on. The police aren't the priority if you've come across this situation.
  3. I think from everything I'm reading that you're posting on here, you're a tad naieve and also trying to hard to get 'noticed' here. I'd never ever leave the window down a "third". As someone else said, if they can get their head out then the rest of them can soon follow. Not worried about my dog(s) biting anyone (though I acknowledge the point made), but mine would definitely be out in a shot and gone! And as for you saying anything to me when I returned to my car - that probably wouldnt be a wise thing to do.
  4. Thats the tone in the voice thats making the dog cringe. What you haven't addressed with presenting this video is when Jacqui walks into her house and her dog is displaying guilt right away, with nothing being said.
  5. Betcha dont own a bullbreed But yeah, as I said, if it wasn't for that and it was just our Chihuahua...then yep.
  6. And thats all it is unfortunately. BYBers with $$$ in their eyes. Bloody tragic
  7. Well, you're going to think that I'm taking too much interest in your posts seeing as how this is the second thread of yours I've responded in. Having said that, its not too many threads I do get over animated in or over interested in for that matter, but I do want to put forward my point of view on this because its just not "funny" in some cases. Not in a MILLION years would I put up a sign like the one you mentioned above. Every day of my life, owning the breed that I do, I fight to ensure that any bad perception ANYONE might have of my breed, no matter how small or pissy in anyone elses mind is downplayed. I won't put leather collars with studs or dress them up to look tough like many who own bull breeds like to do (mine has a pink nylon collar and lead) and I won't do anything, ANYTHING at all that would give anyone a negative impression of the breed. Having said that, I see the funny side for other breeds (those that are far removed from the possible ramifications of a BSL) - such as a Chihuahua. And oh, yes, I have a Chihuahua too. Signed, No signs on my fence
  8. I agree with this. There are many deaf dogs living great lives - but it takes a lot of commitment from the owner. The thing I'd worry about most is recall (but it can be trained). Sure the dog can read hand signals, but they need to be looking at you to see them. If they're focusing on the new dog that has just come into the park, that can be hard! I find it odd that some people say it shouldn't be taken into account when looking for a dog?? I meant in the sense that when you are looking for a dog and then someone says 'oh they're deaf' dont just go - oh ok don't want it then. That's what I meant. Not necessarily that it shouldnt be considered but that it shouldn;t be the deciding factor (unless it wont fit into your lifestyle or unless you dont have the means to care for it properly). And also the comment about a deaf dog "not fitting into your lifestyle". Also just a nonsense thing to say. You dont get a dog for lifestyle reasons in my humble opinion. YES, you did nail the comment about not getting a deaf dog if you dont have the means to look after it. They are a lot of work and there are a lot of issues that need to be considered Well in MY 'humble' opinion, you should either get a dog that fits into your lifestyle OR you get a dog and change your lifestyle to fit the dog. And on your previous post, i am speaking from what i have heard and previous experience with very OLD deaf dogs. I have stated that i am not a breeder or expert at all so you can refrain from calling my comments dumb please. I am expressing my very un-profesional OPINION and it would be nice to come onto these posts and LEARN from other peoples comments. All i have learnt from your comments are that you are quick to call peoples comments dumb. So thank you for enlightening me. You're welcome
  9. Bravo. I wish I could show you guys an old thread off another forum that got quite heated in relation to deaf puppies. It shits me to bloody death that some breeders treat their deaf pups as commodities and are prepared to knock em on the head the moment they find out they can't hear. Theres a number of them reading this thread too, I bet.
  10. Of course you get a dog to fit in with your lifestyle. If someone runs 5ks a day it would be foolish to expect a little laid back dog to be an exercise companion. Likewise people who are fairly sedentary and a stroll around the block is all they're up for don't need a hyper dog that needs to run for hours to work off excess energy. My quote in red and your response in red. Never said that you dont get a dog to fit in with your lifestyle. Of course when you get a dog you need to consider that. I said you dont get a dog for LIFESTYLE REASONS. If you are thinking about getting a dog its not for the reason of it being an "accessory" for when you go on a 5km run every day. Christ...
  11. And speaking of deaf puppies (we bred two) - now that you've got me all wound up - this is my fave picture of one that a lovely couple in Qld took on. Her name is Nina and here she is asleep on top of her Stafford 'brother' Jeff. Love this pic and what a clever girl this one was. Unfortunately no longer with us as a snake got to both of them ;) Deaf puppies and dogs CAN live loving and fulfilling lives.

I find it odd that some people say it shouldn't be taken into account when looking for a dog?? Advised by my vet, and considering many people are not willing to put the time in to training their new puppy I would PTS any pup I bred that was 100% deaf. If they get out of a property they cannot hear vehicles (owner of dog is liable for vehicle damage) and other possibles along these lines. Thankfully, thus far and touching wood..I have never needed to make that decision. And putting to sleep any pup just because it is deaf is another ignorant thing to do. Ive been a breeder and I just abhor that some breeders out there take this stance. YES, you might be picking this topic is a touchy one for me. Fair bloody dinkum this thread has some ignorant opinions and comments. A deaf puppy can live a bloody good life. I think you should TAKE THE TROUBLE to find somebody who WILL put the time and training in. THEY ARE OUT THERE..!!! Just open your eyes and get rid of the 'gotta kill a pup thats not perfect' mentality. Your bred the bloody pup. Put the bloody needle or the gun away and take some responsibility. Phhftt.

  14. That is just one of the dumbest things Ive read on here, sorry.

  16. If I was walking mine in the rain at the moment, Id have to ensure they had floaties tied to them. Jeez its pissing down
  17. Well. The owner said on receiving her little girl back:- "yeah...shes gone missing before...she gets out through a hole in the fence...usually she comes back. I thought this morning when she hadnt come back that I should ring the RSPCA" Sat night went missing. Wednesday rang the RSPCA.
  18. Good news....doggie owner found. SHe rang the RSPCA and they gave her our number. I still havent found out why it took so long...my other half is out delivering the little girl back home now.
  19. She has been frightened at times. a REAL little smooch bag. SHe doesnt like other dogs too much, well, our motley crew anyhow. SHes been spoilt rotten. Slept with the youngest girl last night. Eating bloody chicken for dinner tonight. IN the past the RSPCA didnt follow through with promises or contact when we handed in a dog. You can guess the end result there. We were very distressed. Last thing we want is another dog at the moment, but also dont want to put her at risk.
  20. Been scanned. Got her name off it but the address is not a correct one (and in a town a long way from here). Council Ranger suggested keeping her, as did the RSPCA. They have our details. Radio announcements done, door knocked...lots more Dont trust leaving her at the RSPCA either. Bad experience there once before doing that
  21. We found her in our garage on Saturday night
  22. It looks like shes interested in the cats in that last shot...but thats the furtherest thing from the truth. She has no interest in any of the cats...the 4 we have ALL have her bluffed. She wouldn't dare look at them cos them nasty little things punch her up lol Shes actually dropped her ball there...so shes waiting for my other half to throw it to her
