In fact these cheaper foods have quite similar foods to chicken/game bird pellets. I didnt mind paying more for food if it meant my lot looked really good and I only went through 15kg in just over a fortnight, further if I gave them more fresh or missed kibble days totally. Why dont you give your dogs meat? They're dogs. How much healthier could you get then nice fresh raw meats and bones. Your dogs will fart the place out because their stomachs are not used to having to digest real food. Keeping them on cans, tins and rolls gives dogs lazy stomachs and rubbish digestion hence the stench that comes out of both ends. Start slowly, a bit every day and you will notice your dogs will tolerate it more to the point they can have a whole meal of fresh. I really dont understand the obsession with feeding such a highly processed grain based diet to your dogs, and raising puppies on the same stuff no wonder the dogs grow up not being able to stomach anything else. So many people who feed their dogs these diets say their dogs are doing OK and looking good, but so many have come back and said 'wow we didnt realise how much better they can be' when they improve the diet, either fresher or up in quality. Unless the dog has a dietary problems there is no reason why they cant eat raw meat and fresh bones. Great post. Blending some BARF components into that diet too is the way we go. Or I should say, we tend to more heavily lean towards fresh meat and bones, but some veggies/fruit too

I believe it was one snake. We had sold the white girl and they bought the Stafford (Jeff) to keep her company. They were inseparable in life, and unfortunately then death.

These two (we bred the white girl on top) were both killed by snake in their backyard. Was very sad. I hate the bastard things.

My breed is viewed by some of the uneducated masses as being 'dangerous'. I have a well trained, obedient dog that has never started a fight in her life but has ended up in a few because of the actions of others. Shes a Bull Terrier so obviously 'she' is the problem. I don't know what I'm building up to here.....but again, I've had enough.

One stupid fool had the audacity to go off crook at me because I wasnt lifting my 2 dogs (Bully and Chi) off the ground when his two Jack Russells charged and attacked. Fair dinkum....YARGGH

I rarely come across dogs that are running loose (ie escaped). Always got their dimwit owners somewhere near by. One of those 6 times above I had the Bully and the Chi with me when they were attacked. The Chi hates going for walks now. Whilst she is a worry, my BTM is the one that has been terrorised out of this.

I have a BTM - Bull Terrier (Miniature) along with a Chihuahua and a Cavalier King Charles. Our dogs live in mad house with 4 crazy kids (and all of their friends coming and going) and three cats. The dogs are wrassled and roughed up by the kids, and yep, tormented at times by the younger daughter and just LOVE the attention. Never too many dull moments for them, always someone giving them attention. All pretty much bomb proof at home in our own environment. I take the BTM in particular for three 6k walks every week and the odd other little walk here and there. This girl two years ago loved the walks. I took her everywhere and anywhere, always around people, to events, anywhere to socialise her, whatever I could do to continue her education. In the last 9 months I've had SIX incidents whilst I've been walking her around the streets where we've had some WANKERS bloody dogs race out of a front or back yard to have an aggressive go at my dog/s. None really eventuated into anything that drew blood (remember, my dog is on a lead and let me tell you, shes not a fighter, shes a lover and hopeless at defending herself...she panics and wants to scoot off rather than fight). More often than not in these 6 attacks I havent seen it coming as they've snuck up from behind. Mostly the owners have been out in the front gardens with their dogs, gardening away, off in frickin' lah lah land and letting their dogs roam happily around in their front yard, no leads or restraint. I reckon 5 out of the 6 have been people aged 60+. Last Sunday there was blood drawn and it was my girl that copped it yet again. Some absolute TOSSER had his Rottweiler X sitting outside his Mechanics business. I did see it from across the road (the yard was set back quite a bit) and I was across the opposite side of the road. I watched it out of the corner of the eye and it didnt move. Bugger me dead, 30 seconds later as I passed it had snuck up behind and starting fighting with my girl. Again, she just panicked and didnt put up much defence. I laid 5 BIG bloody boots into this dog, it tried to bite me but didnt latch on, then it took off. I went back once the dog took off back to the garage and I rang the number on the front and gave the bloke a bollocking. If I had someone else with me to hold my dog, I would have gone across the road and belted the heck out of him because of his apathetic attitude. My whole point here though is over the last 3 months, Ive noticed my girl just getting more worried about any little noise or action or movement around her. Today (first walk after that attack) - she shit every time she heard a noise behind her or someone come walking up. I've got a LOT of work to do with this girl now because of shit head irresponsible idiots in this town. Ive had enough. Im WORRIED for this girl now because where I had doen SO much work and I knew how she would react in certain situations, now she can't be trusted because I see she is scared and scared dogs can be dangerous dogs. For those about to froth at the mouth and say that I should have reported these owners and their dogs, yep I should have in hindsight and I probably wont have much hesitation in doing so in the future. My way has always been to sort things myself (rightly or wrongly) and I do have a reluctance in dobbing people in. Way I was brought up. Had e(bloody)nough now, as I said above. Not arguing that your dog is docile...more so the breed in general. Mini's are pretty full on...though mine at this moment is cuttin' Zzzzzz's on the loungeroom floor.

The media is just full of crap The other day, Neil Mitchell (Mr Know It All) had a caller talking about pitbulls and how "their jaws lock". Mitchell's response was to say that, no, he didnt think that pitbulls had a jaw that locked but that Bull Terriers do! Two minutes later he had a caller who said he just saw a pitbull on the loose in the Western Suburbs. When Mitchell got him to describe it, it was obviously a BT. I'm sick of the crap and the hysteria in relation to my breed. I'm sick of ill informed gooses who wouldn't know a elephant from their arses. End rant.

I know you responded on this comment to someone else and straight away acquiesced and said you might have been wrong then - so how the heck can you come out and state with authority that the lady is 100% correct? One minute you're stating you're inexperienced and then you're giving expert unsubstantiated advice? Crikey lady....if you are indeed on DOL to learn, then don't try and give expert advice if you're not experienced. Google 'breaking stick' - thats going to be something you can read up on for starters. ETA - that a breaking stick is just ONE technique that can be effective. Theres been a number of threads here on DOL over the years on that one subject along with seperating fighting dogs. That wouldn't worry some dogs at all. Not the ones I've had experience with. Definitely don't know a lot about Greyhounds though. I would like to get a Rescue 'grey' one day when we get a bit more room and I've had done a bit more reading on them. I reckon they're terrific dogs.

Absolutely not something anyone else should be offering opinions on. If you're not 100% sure, do not get it! Tattoo's are a very personal thing and someone elses thoughts on 'what' you should get are irrelevant. Not a bad idea however to run 'design' ideas past other once you have come to your decision. Theres always someone more creative than you out there who might be able to offer some 'gem' that will enhance your idea.
