you did, thank you But I do have a couple of perfectly good crates here so am wondering if I really need to go out and buy a new one or not.

Around October last year I had some little rescue puppies here who turned out to have parvo, and both had to be put to sleep Since then I have not let any dog come here unless it has been vaccinated for at least 10 days. Now I am about to get a new puppy of my very own Instead of bringing her home at 10 weeks, I have waited until she has had her second vaccination, and will be bringing her home 2 weeks after that, just to make sure she will be safe from any lingering germs. My dilemma is this: I want to crate train her, and i was going to go out and buy a brand new crate BUT I already have a couple of crates here, however they were used by the puppies that died. Do you think it would be ok to use one of these crates for my new puppy if I thoroughly cleaned it out with undiluted bleach?

Thanks for that info Elfin. I am to take Clyde back to the vet early next week so will discuss further treatment then. The ointment they have given me is Tricin

Back from the vet. Yes, Clyde has pannus. He also has dry eyes, and at the moment has an ulcer on one eye. So we need to clear up the ulcer and irritation before starting on cortisone drops. For now he has an antibiotic ointment (trying a different one) which needs to be applied twice a day for the ulcer, then in the middle of the day he has drops for the dryness, and cortisone tablets once a day to start treating the pannus. When the ulcer and irritation heals up he will be on cortisone drops. The vet has confirmed that there is no 'cure' for pannus, he will have to be on eye drops for the rest of his life, but it should be able to be kept under control. There is the possibility of some side effects from the cortisone, but if left untreated he will go blind.

Wonderful news Big hugs for May

RIP lovely Monty

The vet did mention an allergic reaction and that is what we were treating it as. But I have only noticed the cloudy patches after the vet visit and subsequent treatment, they seem to have appeared quite suddenly Oh well I suppose all will be revealed when we go back to the vet on Wednesday.

Clyde is 7 and his teeth are all there but are quite brown. I talked to the vet about his teeth too when I was there as he does have bad breath. She recommended using a little salt and rubbing it on his teeth while wearing rubber gloves as a way of cleaning them, and to do that every day or so. She also showed me this little nubby rubber thing that you put on your finger to clean their teeth. Must admit I have been more worried about his eyes than his teeth and haven't started the teeth cleaning routine yet. I thought I would wait until his eyes were better and I was not having to put stuff in them every day before I started trying to clean his teeth each day.

I am looking for information as i am worried that my greyhound Clyde may have pannus I found a thread morgan posted quite a while ago but i couldn't reply in it as it was too old http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...1&hl=pannus Wondering how your girl is going morgan? Clyde had red and weepy eyes and I took him to the vet and was given Opticlox eye ointment. This improved his eyes but when the ointment was finished they became worse again. I dropped back into the vet and asked for another lot, and said if it didn't clear up completely I would take him back to see them. His eyes are less red and weepy but I have noticed cloudy patches on both eyes, one worse than the other, it looks very much like the photo anniek posted in morgan's thread. I will take Clyde back to the vets this week, I was just looking for some more information.

just checking in for today's update, how is the lovely May going?

Bonnie Working Dog for my dogs, two greyhounds and a staffy cross, plus various fosters. My dogs do well on it, however sometimes when I have had a foster come in in very poor condition they won't put on weight if fed the Working Dog kibble alone (as you would expect).

Very sorry for your loss. RIP Cindy.

good to hear she is home
-
oh no not Ruby! I am crying too now, how sad. I know how much you and mr longclaw and Tommy loved her, I am so sorry.
-
Yes I do rehome interstate Unfortunately I will be working when you are in Canberra though
-
With her foster sister Shauna... and her ball of course!
-
with her ball again
-
As you can see, she loves her ball... well any ball will do!
-
Waiting for me to throw the ball. She gets so excited I have had to teach her to sit until I throw it, otherwise she just bounces madly up and down.

Hi all, I have a lovely foster girl that is looking for a special home. Her name is Summer and we guess she is a bull terrier cross kelpie. She is a friendly, active and intelligent girl, and I think she would make a brilliant flyball dog, or probably be good at any type of dog sports. She needs to go to a home that will give her the training, exercise and mental stimulation she needs, and I am sure in the right home she will turn out to be a great dog. She is approximately 8 months old, and you can see her profile on PetRescue http://www.petrescue.com.au/view/39231 If you know of anyone who may be interested, please direct them to her PetRescue profile. Thanks!!! Karen
