  1. sorry you aren't feeling well asari charlie has been sick hasn't he? Is he improving?
  2. Sorry I have been MIA for the last couple of days, have been trying to get a bedroom painted - all finished now so back to walking again tomorrow!
  3. I would have to agree with Alyosha,of all the dogs I have owned and fostered greyhounds are the easiest breed to live with generally. But as to why there are so many in rescue, the damn racing industry will not force breeders to regulate the numbers of litters they breed, any old Joe can go buy a greyhound and breed it, and so most of them end up dead before they are 4 years old
  4. 4kms is great Well done to all the dog walkers who are getting out regularly I don't have to work today (because I worked on Australia Day) so Matilda and I have been out for along walk, over an hour (usually I just walk for about 30 minutes). I think I am going to make up a little chart to mark off which dog I walk each day, as sometimes I can't remember whose turn it is
  5. One of my male greyhounds, Ryan, is on the small size, and is very 'pretty' looking and people always think he is a girl. He also has a very soft, gentle and friendly nature. He often gets bossed around by foster dogs, and if anyone is going to get 'humped' it is poor Ryan. Sometimes I wonder if it is possible for a dog to be gay!
  6. My foster Hugo is exactly the same! He usually walks fairly nicely on lead until he sees another dog. Took little Ari the whippy girl out this morning on her own, she was much better behaved than when we took her out walking with one of the other dogs a few days ago.
  7. Made it to dog training tonight, Hugo is doing very well, ready to move up from the very beginners into the next group I was chatting with the trainer, and telling her that Hugo is a foster and I am looking for a home for him. She said that he is lovely and doing very well, and after putting in all the hard work i won't be able to part with him - but I already have 4 dogs, much as I like Huges he does need to find his forever home eventually
  8. ooh wolfsong - I will be going to Bungendore to watch, i will have to try and find you and say hi I usually hang out with Alyosha and her Borzoi (I am actually very seriously considering getting a Borzoi and starting showing myself)
  9. you are welcome to join us KitKat I was out with Dozey this morning, and also managed to get out for a second walk last night with Clydey ;) Dog training tonight with Hugo, as long as i don't get held up at work.
  10. Its ok, I did mean FTW, just got it wrong My other question was what does FML mean but you have covered that too Bonnie thanks!
  11. This is a bit off topic, but I have noticed a few posters on here using the abbreviation FWT, and it seems quite popular on facebook, does anyone know what it stands for?
  12. At least they did get a walk Cas I have to work today but don't start till 10, so it is a leisurely morning I have fed all the dogs, done two loads of washing, and tool Tildy out for a nice long walk Just a well we went out fairly early though (around 7) as it is already starting to get very hot outside. Dog training has started back, i didn't think it was starting until february. I had planned on taking my foster boy Hugo, as he is a big brindle cross-breed he will be very hard to find a home for, so I thought if he was well-trained that would help. But with all the work i have been putting into Hugo, my little whippet girl Ari has not been getting any training and has become a real Feral Cheryl! So I may have to alternate weeks with them. I had also thought that if I did put in some work with Ari we may be able to try agility eventually. After my three current fosters find homes I will probably have a bit of a break from fostering for a while so I can actually spend some more time with my dogs. It looks as though Happy may have a home to go to in a few weeks which is great (if you are wondering why I haven't mentioned walking him he was not fully vaccinated before so has not been going out of the yard).
  13. Oh yes i loved Lurchers when i lived in London. Wonder what the Silken Windhounds are like ...?! :p Oh I keep reading the windhounds yahoo group to see if they have got recognition by the american kennel club yet, so then we could start importing them here!!
  14. ahhh poodlefan, have a look at some of the country pounds, and you will find many lurcher types! I have fostered and rehomed a couple, lovely dogs :p
  15. Well maybe I should give my little whippet a go at least. Unfortunately i have been spending a lot of time training my foster dogs and haven't had time to do much with my girl, and she is a real Feral Cheryl at the moment :p
  16. I have them all marked on my calendar :p
  17. jettyjet sory to hear about your situation and hope that you find a house soon! My daughter is back from her grandmas and actually got up and went walking with me this morning, which was nice :p We took Hugo and Ryan.
  18. i know all about that sneaking round getting leads on :p having 7 dogs here there is no way I could take them all out at once
  19. Well done Em!! :p Sometimes I wish i still lived in Canberra, then we could go walking together ;)
  20. awwwwww, they are gorgeous too :p
  21. Daisy

    Greyhound

Many greys are fine with other dogs. All greys that go through reputable adoption programs must be ok with other dogs otherwise they just don't get offered up for adoption :p
  22. thank you for the daily dose of Frodo pics :p
  23. would love to see a pic ;) and congrats :p in a year or so when i start showing, can I hang out with you? some of your 'winningness' might rub off on me
