It gets EXTREMEMLY HOT try walking on it with bare feet like your poor dog and it becomes very smelly you can hose it but the urine and poo smells linger Your dog deserves a dog friendly back yard as they spend most of the time in it so I hope you can find another solution if you cant have real grass.

Sorry but if you find a dog that is continually roaming the streets take it in no one comes forward and wants it which unfortunately happens just ask the shelters then I say good on you for caring about that animal I know very well what happens in shelters and to lost dogs. I follow the law and rescue dogs from pounds after they have done their time. What would you expect me to do if I found your dog who has slipped it's collar after it's been lost for a couple of weeks and looking like crap? Give you the chance to reclaim from the pound OR decide you don't deserve that chance? It's all in the NSW Companion Animals Act and if you are caught holding a dog you found the first fine is 30 penalty units - one unit is $110 If you have violated any other parts of the Act like interfering with a ranger's right to identify an animal you will incur more penalty units. That section of the Act is so that do-gooders and cowboys don't take the law into their own hands. Be they members of the public or rescuers. You turn the dog in, and if you're as caring as you would like to believe, put your name on to buy. OH my god really? Lets talk about the LAW or should we talk about the rights of the ANIMALS who to many OWNERS lock up keep in a backyard for 10 15 hours a day with NO human contact with kids that no longer care about the dog and are to busy for it LOVE YOUR ANIMALS thats all I want We can have differing opinions thats fine but I am sick of seeing and hearing about animals suffering it hurts and makes me frustrated and helpless thats all

Sorry but if you find a dog that is continually roaming the streets take it in no one comes forward and wants it which unfortunately happens just ask the shelters then I say good on you for caring about that animal That's theft, and a really low act. I'm 6,000,000% sure no shelter would condone breaking the law by stealing a dog because you have an opinion that it's better off with you. Proper channels exist for a reason If you want to do the right thing by the dog, and keep it, take it to a shelter and tell them if it's not claimed you will adopt it. Some dogs are escape artists. My old boy went through a brief period of it and if someone had stolen him because they thought they were 'helping' the 'poor dog' it would have broken his heart and mine. Excuse me our local dogs home one of the busiest has many dogs up for adoption that were strays no body comes forward for these animals there was even a goldie dumped on a highway Sorry but some people DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR DOG thats a fact A very SAD FACT

Sorry but if you find a dog that is continually roaming the streets take it in no one comes forward and wants it which unfortunately happens just ask the shelters then I say good on you for caring about that animal Just ask the shelters what? Shelters don't just hold animals and hope owners come searching, they make reasonable attempts to locate the owners and in this case the owner was very easy to locate and immediately arranged to pick up their dog. Yes it can be distressing to see a dog cowering in front of it's owner but I assume that there was no physical evidence of abuse so for all we know this is a guy with some old fashioned views of dog behavior with an escape artist dog, it doesn't mean he's not loved and wanted. My parents spent thousands trying to keep our dog growing up in our property and my brother and I spent more than 1 afternoon cycling around the neighborhood after school looking for him. He never experienced anything harsher than a stern 'go to your kennel' but he knew when he was 'in trouble' Excuse me our local dogs home one of the busiest has many dogs up for adoption that were strays no body comes forward for these animals there was even a goldie dumped on a highway Sorry but some people DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR DOG thats a fact

General Golden Retriever Questions
loveyrdog replied to phpdoglover's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hi Pat yay great choice they are just the best dogs! :) As I am just a goldie owner and not a breeder I can only say to look on gr breeders websites to see their past litters and there breeding dogs as in the look/colour/size/temperament that you are interested in What I found surprisingly is it takes time, patients, research and more time! But worth it as they will be part of your family hopefully for a long long time I also found it hard to get a reply from a a lot of breeders, I emailed when just inquiring about up coming litters etc which my self and others have found extremely frustrating and rude But dont give up as there are good committed helpful breeders out there it is good that you can travel interstate at least that gives you more options I did recently see a breeder in Queensland that had dark golden retrievers and pups but cant remember the name But go to golden retriever breeders [on here] and check some of there websites and there breeding practices and how there puppies are reared and just email or phone them and hopefully the right pup will be out there for you Goodluck -

You did the right thing and gave that dog the best day If you get a chance to go back he will be there again as he is probably not taken out So take him and love him or you can contact the owner and kindly ask to buy /adopt the dog saying you realize he must be really busy with work and kids etc and that you would love an older dog Stay calm offer $100 or so and he is sure to say take him I wouldnt bother with the rspca they wont do anything Goodluck go get him :)

Appreciate Your Reviews On Pet Insurance
loveyrdog replied to loveyrdog's topic in General Dog Discussion
Also, if you're getting a pup, ask your breeder to send you home with the 6 weeks free insurance which the breeder needs to set up. My breeder said it was easy. Just set up a log in and list the puppy with dates etc plus my details. Then you upgrade to paid version after the pup is home. Gives you coverage from before you own the pup and there's nothing that might not be covered. Also I remember asking for the breeder to get a short statement from the vet who saw the pups at vaccination before I got them which just stated checked this and that and all clear. Hi Thanks for your feedback & advice, gee you have had rough time so lucky you had pet insurance hope all goes well at the vets for your yorkies :) -
Appreciate Your Reviews On Pet Insurance
loveyrdog replied to loveyrdog's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks everyone Can I ask Do you pay monthly or the total in advance? Did you join online or talk by phone? RE Medibank; So are your fees for medibank cheaper because you have private health cover with them? and is that %80 pay back on vet fees? RE Petplan; Are you covered ''for life policy'' which sounds reassuring as they get older and do you get %100 back on your vet bills? As they are a bit more expensive than the others Sorry there is so much to read & remember arrrr fine print as I go from one website to another Thanks again for your help -

Hi I have never had pet insurance so would love your experiences in using them and your recommendations please I currently own 4 yrold female GR and am also getting a GR puppy soon So I am thinking it is time to get pet insurance for the ''just in case'' as I do not have big amounts of money at the ready for vet emergencies and I have narrowed it down to Petplan or PIA Are there any doglovers out there that currently use any of these or other pet insurances? I know another option is to have a credit card for emergencies and obviously save save save Thanks for your advise

Hi thanks so much It might be nice to have a girl I am quite excited at the thought as I have only had my lovely boys I am not sure how they will meet As depends on where I will get her from like pick up from owner/rehome from interstate /breeder etc As its just me I dont have anyone to meet in a park etc The ideal would be to have a 1/2 week trial but that rarely happens I am definitely going by the owners description on temperament/personality and will just wait for the right match,
