  1. I have searched yahoo groups for it, but cannot find it. Can you tell me exactly what it is called? Thanks.
  2. ** bump ** again now that Mad Woofter is back online :D
  3. Just thought that I would mention that when I was at Westfields Miranda on the weekend, the Chicken Shop (I think that is the actual name of the shop) had chicken feet for $1.99/kg. They also had for sale chicken giblets, hearts and liver. Just thought some people might be interested as I have never seen these "locally" before.
  4. Any chance of a photo of Ink??? Also, how do I find this Oz Obedience list? Thanks.
  5. I only stayed to 10.00 am and watched the CCD ring. There were 2 nice red? border collies working - was she one of these?
  6. I am interested in finding out the trial results from the Sutherland Shire Dog Training Club which was held yesterday - particularly CCD, and Open. I am not yet a member of DOGSNSW, so don't know where I would usually find these?
  7. Not sure. If it was me, I would probably be phoning a local emergency vet and asking their advice.
  8. This is a suggestion from a very novice trainer, so please feel free to ignore How about gradually increasing the time/distance that you are away from him and rewarding any periods of silence. From what you say, he has claimed the sofa. Is there anyway that you can pop out of his sight (for a nanosecond) then return before he starts the noise and reward his silence - and then gradually increase the time that you disappear from his sight (one nanosecond, two nanosecond, etc). If you cannot even leave him from a nanosecond, then I would be looking at gradually increasing the distance that you move away from him, and rewarding that. I would probably also consider teaching a "quiet" command, starting when he is actually quiet. When he is calm and quiet, say the word "quiet", or settle, or whatever you choose and reward that. As I said, I am a very novice trainer, but just thought I would put the suggestions out as food for thought - quite happy for anyone else to critique them.
  9. Am I the only one who doesn't understand the question???
  10. Try Kim Rance at West Cost Pet Care (boarding kennels and training). I believe that she also runs a pupppy pre-school. http://www.west-coast.com.au/
  11. This is a list of dog training clubs in the Sydney Metro area from the DOGSNSW website. If you are interested in going to any of them, I would give them a call just to check that their times haven't changed. http://www.dogsnsw.org.au/regions-metro-training-clubs
  12. When I feel strong enough (emotionally) to walk both, I walk one on either side. Stormy, who understands how to walk nicely is on my left, and Murphy on the right. Murphy can walk nicely on a loose lead when walked by himself, but is still learning how to do this when walked with Stormy. He wants to be out in front, and pulling, so I need him on my "good" side so I can correct him when necessary. I also find that by walking one on each side, I can make any individual corrections that I need. Also, the space between them seems to make them understand that we are out for a walk, not playtime. All is good until we see a cat and then there are two 28 kg going in two different directions
  13. May I ask why you ask? I ask, because depending on your reason for wanting these resources, I may or may not be able to help you. i am doing a training assessment form for an assignment and need some samples to help me to create one of my own No problem - it just changes where I direct you for information. Wouldn't happen to be NDTF course, would it  There is an excellent "Student Profile Form" in Terry Ryan's "Coaching People to Train Their Dogs" - pg 385. It is also an excellent resource for anyone who is even thinking about teaching group classes or private lessons. Not so much on dog training (though there is enough), but a lot on communicating with people, class set up, etc. Also, don't forget to reference any sources that you have based "your" form on.

  15. I need new glasses I can't find the prices? Try this link... linky The prices are definitely :D
  16. Inspector Rex - can you tell me if the DNA test can be done on "mutts" - I have two who I suspect may have some collie in their mix. Also, what is involved with the DNA testing - how is it done?
  17. I have a medium Black Dog treat pouch and absolutely love it. Had a drawstring one once - hated it as I kept getting my fingers caught in the string.
  18. I will throw a couple of ideas "out there" and wait for the more experienced people to come along... When you say you have tried ignoring him.... how long for? Did you ignore him until his tantrum ceased? If he is going through an "extinction burst" and you pay him attention whilst he is still having his tantrum, then you have effectively rewarded this behaviour, and he will be thinking "oh, okay, I just have to go longer and harder to get their attention" - you need to ignore until the behaviour stops, and then reward the calm behaviour. Is he quiet at all when he first goes into the crate? If he is, I would reward this calm behaviour and build on this. Is it possible to leave him with a chew toy that would last him a while and help him settle??? Final question - you say it has only happened over the last few weeks. Is there anything in his routine, your routine or your life that has changed?
  19. News flash.... news flash... news flash.... Just found out that MrsDog has a new dog that will be joining her and Kiss on the flyball circuit. Only problem, Willow (a harlequin Dane) is almost as tall as her and outweighs her Perhaps they should take up sledding instead!
  20. May I ask if the dog had had a bath, or swim within 2-3 days either side of the applications? The reason that I ask is that we use Revolution, which I think says that no bathing 48 hrs prior to or after application. The one time that we bathed her 4 days prior to application, she reacted - nice circular hair loss where it was applied - which has taken 6 mths to grow back!
  21. I believe that this may have just become available in NSW (location Dural), but I am not totally sure.
  22. Just throwing this one out - have you checked for Addison's disease, as excessive drinking can also be a sign of this.
