Do Your Canine Mates In Spirit Visit You In Your Dreams?
Two Best Dogs! replied to Paul777's topic in General Dog Discussion
Can't say they do, but then I do not remember my dreams often. Thanks for sharing yours from your past companion :) they certainly leave an impact on our lives :) -
Ye olde traditional and I believe a melbourne tradition is to photograph your "kids" in front of myer christmas window? We have yet to open presents so I'm sure more photos will happen :) Backdrop! (Such a good girl!)

Thanks tassie ???? I like that hoop and blanket ideas. I can't justify going to kepala just for the hoop. Also good to know about the ankc regulations if ever went down that path. Obviously not with this girl, just like doing things with her. I'll check that balance out! I want to keep those leg muscles of her working, considering how straight they are, with low impact stuff. Long run health goal hopes. -

Oh is it? It's the tunnel I really wanted, to work on her "there's something above my head" confidence my recommendee is an owner with similar type dog so figured so far so good? http://m.crazysales.com.au/online-5-5m-portable-pet-dog-agility-training-exercise-tunnel-chute-with-carry-bag-17555.html although suppose the photoshopped boston(?) is a good indicator it's prob not of big enough size...oh there's that measurement very far down the page. 60cm high. for my 65cm high dog. she is taller than other dog... oh well, good to know for future puppies and small dogs! or people who just want a one off back yard game? Back to stalking that aussie dog gear swap and sell ;) Come on tunnel.... -
I might be late to the party on this website but it was suggested to me cause it's got lots of home dog agility stuff and other items! http://m.crazysales.com.au I'm getting some of the agility come pay day! Definitely the tunnel and weaving and either the jumps or the jump hoop. Haven't yet worked out if they sell balance balls. Anyway thought others might want to know for home fun

I Know This Has Probably Been Done To Death...
Two Best Dogs! replied to poochmad's topic in General Dog Discussion
Rule 4: No denigration of pure bred dogs Speaks for itself. This is a primarily a pure bred dog forum (ANKC recognised breeds) and was created to promote and discuss these breeds. If you don't think pure bred dogs make the perfect pets, then maybe this forum is not for you. A thread asks why some people might prefer doodle crosses to poodles, mowgli contributes their experience and you accuse them (and only them?) of denigration? That puts a good stop to any honest discussion and learning :/ -

Two Best Dogs! replied to Scrappi&Monty's topic in General Dog Discussion
would silver shade ones keep the water off if it should happen to drizzle? Obviously noseworks wouldn't go ahead in a downpour and I can't think of any other reason I'd have Thistle crated outside of my home. this is it: http://k9pro.com.au/silver-shade-mesh-tarp/ PS she been chilling in it, now only keep the one door open. Been leaving the manners minder on over it -

Another crate question... For the cover, was leaning to the vebo ones that kind of look like my camping tent (lol) but perhaps might be better to get a silver shade one? Thoughts? They'll both obscure her from view but I'm also thinking harder to keep a dog cool than warm? Also i'm doing a k9pro order soon anyway... -

Oh Kirislin Perhaps invite IM and Secret around for a cup of tea and catch up over how everyone is and see where it goes from there? I had not realised you were in hospital! I hope you are feeling better. -
Is making the fences they climb electric out of the question? I think that's what my auntie upstate did, but she just had chooks and rabbits so the foxes prob moved on to her neighbours place...

How Do You Prevent Fears? Like Fireworks?
Two Best Dogs! replied to mowgliandme's topic in General Dog Discussion
I didn't know that Corvus, about the 3-5 years being when sound sensitivities can occur. Do you have some reading could be punted to? I am thankful for all our fears, the typical thunder/tools/sirens are not one of them. As the harder to control fears (can't stop thunder!). Think you're doing a grand job raising her. Some dogs just like learning and knowing doing "the right thing" - perhaps she is one of them? When I started giving thistle rules and imitation NILF she really started gaining confidence. I reckon cause I was showing her what to do and not do *edit. That was meant to be pointed. Punted works too. -
Australian Working Dog Rescue: Dog Bites Child
Two Best Dogs! replied to koalathebear's topic in In The News
I saw that comment too lhok. I would think if anything an article warning against adopting dogs that had not yet been assessed and cautioning people from spontaneous rescue adoptions would be a good thing. Awareness raising on how to find a good rescue etc. if a puppymill was exposed on the news today I would hope people wouldn't call airing it an attack on breeders anymore than airing a rescue that hands out unassessed dogs to inappropriate families? I hope the new family got the dog was made aware of the assessment family number 1 did. I'd worry we will be looking at another face bite down the track. I've no words for the directors responses. :/ -

I do exactly that when novel things are happening and I want to prevent fear  Distract with tricks and reward ignoring/settling down/being calm -

You guys were right about the bed, picked one up $40 on impulse (christmas sales!) and it looks much smaller now. Assuming in the future it will have a water bowl and a solar powered fan for summer, I can see all that space going! I've come inside and she's fast asleep in it could she be any more perfect? Hoping you're having some luck scrappi? I'm sure if keep stalking gumtree one will surprise you! -

I'm putting her bed into it today but keeping both doors open! I'm gonna set the manners minder up for 30 second rewards on top while I'm mowing -
Did the pedigree one, with what I would describe thistle. It suggested a British bulldog?!? Urgh! Also suggested a labrador which I am quite partial to the working lines and wouldn't rule out. The purina one suggested borzoi and corgis. Neither are breeds that appeal to me. Also the clumber spaniel is back for me, where is my "no excessive skin or smooshed face" option? I'd think many people decisions equally guided by what do not like! Like that iams one so much more than the rest.
