  1. That live cast this morning with a person and their ess with puppies was interesting ;) what gorgeous dogs!
  2. HE didn't do it yesterday at training, was too distracted by his alone-time-bone. Win for me? This is the last time I'm car rotating them as weather getting too warm. Only one dog next week! I'll try and catch him at home. He behaves in a similar way if I have backdoor open. The trigger seems to be seeing me but not able to get to me. Sometimes I do tethered exercises where I walk away, reward for staying quiet etc etc try and build his confidence up. He doesn't carry on like this when in same situation at Noseworks? Can rotate easily there. thistle did not pass into advanced but I think we were not demoted. Also she managed to do 3 stand for exams without doing any go away displays and minimal foot movement! We have rarely had such success. @Starkehre's Bon went up, along with Ralph and Lottie. All three are the dogs Thistle and I felt "safest" being near (in that they won't break and are of reliable temperament). Will miss them! Will have have to carefully scope out the rest for new "dogs we can go between" or just keep putting us on opposite sides to the small and fluffies. Am happy she was able to do something resembling stand for exam
  3. I can but yeah once he's done barking he lays down and goes to sleep or sits and watches. Usually he is being left out of something and that makes him sad. I'll try to remember this Sunday to record!
  4. Yeah I can see it being beneficial to those who have never done any shaping before! I had clicked the "somewhat experienced" button as I took it to tailor the kind of content you see, but maybe it was more of an audience survey? mowgli I saved the pdfs I will send them to you when get home tonight. It is fun game I mostly use at back step when I get home (the most challenging time!). I missed the power hour one all together :'( TSD that is good to hear, id need to sign up first ;) might not be this round anyway, have rennovations to pay for...
  5. This Sunday we are being tested. I am practicing thistles stand for exam as much as I can. I do not think she will pass but one can hope! We are good for all other criteria it is the stand we always fail. I have signed up fir a rallyo workshop with thistle and have an eye on a tracking workshop for thyme! our daily life is pretty good. There was a tense few weeks where thistles tail hurt her and thyme was a brat but we have moved past this and everyone learning to communicate with each other. When thistle is cranky with thyme he lays down and crawls under her and this seems to woo her over somehow??? Thymr seems to have mild separation anxiety. It's not getting worse and slowly getting better. It's only in regards to not being with me and not alone without thistle. He's not destructive he just barks for a bit but a random person got upset he was barking in the car while I was in pet store. He stops after a few minutes though so with time he get better. Treats to chew on help. i am planning special Saturday in bush for them as not been home as much lately. Must remember us hunting season there! Yellow!! Past month no Noseworks but we hopefully return next week. Been practicing it is so much fun watching them follow the scent. Clever dogs.
  6. Thanks rooza o I do like the pdfs that come with each video. It is the speaking part I seem to struggle most with. I watched video 3 again and was able to complete it this time. Maybe I am cranky this week because so little time with my dogs so short on patience? I want to do games with them! (Did games tonight of course! Some play some training and all important cuddles) hmmm building tug you say. I do enjoy better ways to play with the dogs. Anything really, that gets me doing stuff with them. The engagement challenge recently really helped highlight tug to me but I am just not personally good st it. With the 40 videos being released one at a time...do they disappear at end of the sub? I would worry about falling behind. We are still only at level 2 of the IYC summit games, mostly because I keep forgetting and shoving food in their mouths. I cannot imagine how fast fall behind with 40 videos!
  7. That is reassuring TSD, in the event of not matching the style of videos at all. Would prefer not to do that of course, makes for extra work for everyone
  8. Are the recallers videos quite different in format to these VIP ones then? as I was expecting more on the theory and parts of games and a less focus on life changing stories ? Like in the IYC summit where she explained why you hold the treat certain ways and various angles etc
  9. I've been wondering this too. The VIP pass, the first video is basically a trailer, the second video is about place commands and release words, the third I think was about the value of rewards (I found it hard to focus for this one). I guess I was expecting the VIP videos to be more of a "sample" of the recallers annual sub as a "try before you buy" and less of Susan talking about how great recallers is? Is the layout of these videos similar to what you get on the recallers annual? Just because if I'm going to have to dedicate 20-30 minutes each time to a speech on how life changing it is, followed by a story, then a "game" at the end... very hesitant. I think I liked the IYC summit more, was expecting videos like that that go over a game to play and variations of it. only one video to go
  10. wow what a cute unique individual that is. Wonder what the personality is like
  11. The attachments were all removed and the power hour summary video (which I think I would have preferred) are removed all together. I saved the PDF quick guides though so not all is lost! I know its a a marketing ploy but damn if it's not a little frustrating! I need more of a taste to mull it over but maybe this Recallers will help give taste. I will watch the video 1 tonight. I need to see a sample of the games and "structure" to see if it's the kind of thing for me.
  12. I signed up to the free, two-week VIP pass for recallers https://recallers.com/vip-guest-pass/ I'm steaming mad I missed the final Its Yer Choice Summit video (was only up for one day), but we have progressed to the ?second? exercise so far I am enjoying the structured videos. Maybe next year can buy the recallers subscription...
  13. Congratulations em and TSD! Wow that's a lot of babies! So sad about the two :'( best of health for the rest of them! They're getting a great start under your care

  17. You really did make great dogs and pick great owners. I am never worried to have Thistle near Bon, in closer proximity than other dogs, because I can trust Bon will stay in position and her owner will keep an eye on her. (Not that others in the class are bad or lesser, just that the combo of good breeding, good raising and good training gives them that extra inch. I wish all dogs and owners were able to get that complete triangle of good! ) And you're the support for that triangle that keeps it going! Applaud you!
  18. They're gorgeous all of them lovely dogs!
  19. Some people people are just clueless. My dog school you meant to keep at least 1m between dogs AND it's a yellow dog program school with it in the terms of reference AND your first lesson in each level goes over the yellow dog rule (yours truly then pointed at) ...and I still get the odd person who will walk right up into our space with a dog in tow to ask about the space jacket. (Most common question: is it people or dogs?) Im slowly getting better at having Thistle sit while I step forward and ask them not to come any closer. Thistke has only had the "what's she in training for" a couple of times. Ppl far more likely to ask if she's up for adoption. Thyme is regularly asked "what's he in training for" and my answer is always "to be a good boy". Sonetimes if im feeling silly, "therapy dog for my other dog". ... if I really want us to be given space I put Thistles muzzle on. No one would take thyme seriously in a muzzle tho. He's just too cute. (Did have a kid yesterday ask if he will bite due to the in training. Took his jacket off for that kid to say hello) all that said. Overall is a decrease in being bothered by ppl or dogs. Self managing of turning and avoiding ppl helps too and is best method I think. Can't trust ppl to read the signs. Combine for best effect!
  20. I am very glad he is not looking for explosives!!! I only know people who detect disease/invasive plants/drugs/quarantine/competitive... We've had some success using pots as our "boxes" - i think the shape throws him off a lit. That said, first few goes he went over each "box" as he sniffed. So I'm lining it up against the wall now, and okay he went overland again but wed night nearly all searches managed to be NEXT to the "boxes" and not sending them flying about...much... Thistle probably wouldn't set off a bomb ;) I just bought the leerburg noseworks dvds off someone on this site, i'm hoping that might have some troubleshooting exercises. leerburg tends to have good creative ideas for tricking the dog into getting it right!
  21. I think for your purpose, a leash or leash sleeve would work well. My friend has one that you slip on to the dog end of the leash, for days where needed. I saw similar today, and they were pretty visible "ADOPT ME" ones but were more flag like. Looks like this: (he's resting) I find people can't read bandanas very well, which is why do not often use our "don't touch" bandana. Harnesses are equally hard to read because most of the writing is on the chest...which is below eye level. I do hang Thistle's vest on gates and stuff, when using dog parks or the DIY dog wash or leaving her in car, so people are warned. and some people are just oblivious. Today we had two people come up and pat Thyme while in his Training vest. They stopped when I told them not to, and considering what a busy location it was, 2 out of like 60+ people isn't so bad.
  22. Situation: Clumsy 8 month old springer who is SO EXCITED to find the scent that once he catches the scent he just flies through any objects in his way rather than walk around. Hilarious but also disqualifying. Boxes are particularly prone to being sent flying. As am I, if he suddenly switches direction and trips me with his lead. His indication is to drop with his chin resting on the scent. He is certainly very very good at finding that scent. I have been usung using cement bricks as his "boxes" to try and reduce his knocking about but doesn't seem to translate over to moveable objects. At this moment he's better at room searches without boxes than the box exercises... I will NOT correct his enthusiasm for finding the scent. I do want him to control his momentum. But I want to keep his passion and energy channeled in a more rule-meeting-way Does anyone have ideas on ways to get him suceeding at not knocking things over? we have started some body awareness exercises. Just your basic 2 feet on 2 feet off. Im thinking about taking some boxes from work. Maybe if I tip them on their sides for now? Smaller boxes? Bigger boxes? Pots? Happy to get creative, he usually generalises pretty well. will endeavour to get a video tonight.
  23. I only just started the summit but I'd love to hear your recallers experience because ouch! That's a hard price. Is it a one off fee or annual?
