Not sure but i don't think so.

We import and sell the sensible harnesses. They are an excellent tool.

Will be doing a story tonight on the new legislation- keep an eye out for me and my best friend. Fingers crossed everything comes across okay.
-
The police said that they have photos of the injury and that the images are too disturbing to show as there is alot of damage done.
I just wish people would contain their bloody dogs.
-
Aussies are too small and herding type- there are 3 herding breeds ahead of them that we'd prefer.
Not sure about the Mals but will keep them in mind. Boxers are probably still at the top of the list.
-
Few people are scared of the current dogs- being white with spots seems to help. Danes aren't active or agile enough.
-
Someone called me last night and told me that the vet letter will only help if it says the dog is of pure breed.
I don't think the standard is specific at all and the weight range in particular is going to bring Staffy x's under scrutiny as well.

None of the collies are big enough or solid enough for the type of dog we'd be considering. I do love the smooth collies i work with (in fact they are one of my favourite clients) but i don't think they are the dog for us. We will always have herding breeds but they will always be kelpies, ACD's or a corgi.
-
Yes i do think the cane corso is probably not public friendly.
-
Megan, we will always have a kelpie or ACD (or a few!) and JRTs but we love bigger dogs too. Corgis are also on the must have one day list.
Sorry grumpette, i have always loved Rottweilers though. Its not the only reason i'd veer away from the Rotts and dobes but it does contribute.

Bit too big and drooly

We go to the beach and muddy horse paddocks alot so a white samoyed coat just wouldn't work i'm afraid!

Not interested in competing with the dog but the dog would be trained as though he was. Need something that can live in a well managed pack, is friendly with people and preferably something that isn't overtly scary looking to the general public as the dog would regularly work with clients. Moderate level of usable drive, confident to assertive personality- not after something that is soft as butter.
Dog won't be asked to work in really hot weather but i don't want something that can't go for a walk on a sunny 25 degree day. Would prefer something i can groom myself. Nothing predisposed to anxiety or known for its vocal side. Needs to be reasonably intelligent and generally bold.
And yes i know many of these things can be nurtured but i would want to start with the best blank slate possible.
Am off to have a closer look at the corsos- i only know one and he had some significant issues but has the structure i like so worth checking out i think.

Should be the Dandenong leader newspaper i think, not sure when it comes out though. Will post a link if there is one.
I think the vet certificate is a good thing but would still like to know exactly how this legislation is to be applied.

What will happen if a dog meets 75% of the criteria?
-
Roguedog- i don't seem to be able to read the pm- it just says you have added me as a friend.
Definitely not a labrador. Love training them but not the breed for me.

I had a local newspaper interview this morning and have a photographer coming this arvo. Journalist was very good and i got to say everything i wanted to say- hoping it will be a decent article.
My vet is more than happy to write a letter- no idea whether it will hold any weight as yet though.
-
Yes they are and because they are not ANKC recognised i won't have one. Doesn't mean i don't like them though.
-
GSD's have too much coat and i don't love their general temperaments.
It has to be ANKC registered because i will not go near any bull type dog without papers once the new laws are in. Otherwise to be honest i would be sticking with my bull arab types from rescue.
Are any of the mastiffs light enough to be considered active?
-
Thats not my understanding at this stage. I believe that any pit bull type who is not registered as a pit bull x and kept as such can be seized and destroyed. They are trying to stamp out the cross breeds that people are registering as other breeds.

I love training gundogs and know lots of wonderful ones- but i wouldn't want to own one (except maybe a springer one day but we're talking big dogs at the moment) because i find them to have no real 'edge'. I don't like the tendency toward anxiety in the weims. So its not that i don't like gundogs as such but i don't feel they really suit us and what we want from a dog.

I am getting my vet to write something for mine tomorrow.

We only sell the sensibles- have never had an issue with rubbing. By all means measure them up and email me, postage depends on your location but its not too much- they are not heavy.
