Our 5 sleep in our room- 1 on the bed every night, 1 on the bed when its not too hot and the other 3 always on their own raised bed

Almost back to normal today, thank goodness.

I think the corgi/ cocker suggestions are good ones. I do see terriers being recommended in some situations when they probably shouldn't be. I have the most amazing terrier in our family- but i would NEVER recommend them to someone inexperienced or wanting an easy dog to train. I know exactly how easily my awesome dog could have been a terror in the wrong hands. They aren't for the faint hearted. :)

We buy and use Sensible harnesses- prefer the material of them over the black dog ones and don't like the martingale type fitting at the chest of the gentle leader ones. We (and many of our clients) are very happy with them.
-
Yes i think they have decided i must be a horrible owner!
-
With that update- a Cocker spaniel
-
The very underated Havanese might be suitable also.

Gilbert as a baby puppy. Hope he is back to normal soon, he looks so sad.
-
He has sensitive skin so citronella or aeroguard wouldn't be an option. He is actually looking really miserable tonight- spoke to my vet who told us to give him some medication on hand as he broke out in hives tonight. If he gets worse we will have to take him to the vet tonight. If he isn't back to normal by the morning he has to go to our vet too. Why is it that when you desperately want the expertise of your OWN vet, you're never close enough to get to them. This is the second time we have had an emergency and had to use the closest vet where we would have preferred our fabulous vet- who is 25 minutes away.
-
Yes i will talk to my vet about getting one. There are plenty of times when we are not that close to a vet as we were today.
-
Given that the last one was nowhere near as bad i think its fair to assume his will get worse each time. Just got the call from the vet- he is ok and coming home this afternoon. Thanks for all the well wishes.

Gilbert had an allergic reaction a few weeks ago, this one was alot worse and alot faster.
-
Yes the vet says every reaction is worse which is very scary- it was an absolute maximum of 10 minutes from actual bite to collapse today, maybe even less.
-
He really is the perfect dog. From the perfect breeder. I had better email her and let her know, she will be upset too.
-
Will check with the vet- We were lucky we were so close to a vet. Its not our regular one but i think he would have been gone if we had tried to get him there as it would have been another 25 minutes or so.
-
I cannot believe how quickly things can change. One minute the best Jack Russell in the world was running and playing- 5 minutes later he is throwing up, foaming at the mouth, staggering around like he's drunk and another minute later he loses control of his bowels, collapses on the vet table with white gums. Anaphalactic shock to a bite of some kind.. Vet will call in a few hours to let us know how he is going- he is on fluids and had some injections. Apparently these reactions get worse every time they have them- do they have epi pens for dogs?

Lovely dog, lovely focus. I don't see any reason why you couldn't start making the criteria for reward gradually more difficult, at least at home. In saying that- if the instructor is not doing this in a way you feel comfortable you should speak with them about it. I don't mind maintaining high levels of reward at training classes given the high level of distraction. But at the same time- if the dog is never challenged (mentally) they will sometimes become bored and regress across all areas of their training.
-
My dogs have clear treat balls and rubber treat balls ( having a mental blank and can't remember their names) that have lasted a few years. They also have fantastic foam balls that have lasted well too. Others like the kong genius don't last long with my guys at all! Nylabones are good too

Of course there are good points. But good points get lost amongst those that are perhaps a little extreme. It also means that its not something i would pass on to clients seeking a new puppy- it really would put many of them off. Just my opinion.

I have it and use it in our group obedience classes so lots of dogs and owners have had a play- i think its great. I prefer it to the spinny one as it doesn't spin easily enough for my liking. The tornado is plenty of fun too.
