Sorry- should have been clearer- they would only recognise the class instruction unit as RPL- and said it is unlikely to result in a reduction in workload.

I was looking at doing it this year but was quite put off by the lack of RPL that would apply so not this year. Good luck!

I would give a lead correction to the dog the moment she starts to nip and remember to reward her at times when she is not nipping. Dogs do not need to learn bite inhibition by biting/ mouthing people.

I already feed my dogs a barf diet and just wondering what other barfers add to their regular mix for a large breed puppy?

Dog is lying down, rabbit runs by, dog gives chase. That sequence starts with instinct not a punisher. I also agree with Poodlefan

Stimulus or motivation is different to punishment IMO

What do you consider to be a punisher? Not having food and making the dog hungry is not a punisher, its a stimulus that will then cause the dog to do XYZ behaviour and get XYZ result- some kind of consequence that will then determine if that behaviour will be repeated next time the same stimulus is presented. I don't consider dogs to be in a constant state of 'punishment' but maybe my definition of punishment is different to yours.

By that theory, wouldn't that mean that dogs are being negtiavely punished extremely regularly- any time they want something from us? Punishment of any kind is a consequence to behaviour so i don't believe it can start in advance of the behaviour being offered?

But the choice to use negative punishment or positive reinforcement is made after a command has been given, the dog makes a choice and then one or the other is used. The dog is not being punished from the moment the command is given?

Ditto Amhailte- the reward is not being withheld upon completion of the exercise so the video shows +ve R. Punishment (positive or negative) reduces the likliehood of that behaviour occurring again so what behaviour are you trying to reduce?? The dog didn't do anything undesirable?

Have you approached the behaviourist or instructors at ADT?

Blulupas- does the delta course do any practical implementation (through demonstration) of all the 'theories of training'?

Are there any particular problems or things you'd like to work on? We have training in Clayton South- about 20 minutes from you.

Have a think about contacting Mark Singer and doing a one on one session. Group obedience might help in some aspects but i think you need more intervention than just group training. One more thing- i am a bit confused about the dogs age?? Is she 3 1/2 years or older or 9 months?

I think you need to get someone to help you to stop this problem now before it gets worse or affects your bonding with her even more. What have you tried with her so far?

You need to give her an effective correction as she starts to mouth. Once she has stopped, then you can try to engage her with a toy or bone 20-30 seconds after the mouthing has stopped or ask her for a sit and reward her for that. But she needs to learn that putting her mouth around a person is never acceptable behaviour. At 9 months old, no she will not grow out of it and i would seriously consider getting some professional help to stop it asap!

The very first time you asked her to stand and she sat, you didn't recommand? Or was it just a really slow sit? Heeling looks great to me, i would have her fast pace a little faster but thats just me. Do her recalls ever get slow or unmotivated?
