Thankyou guys but please more information to anyone willing to give it! Plus some more questions :) I will only be taking 1-2 dogs to the shows so not sure enough heat will be generated to keep them warm at night but have just asked the lady we are buying the trailer from if its carpeted or not. We have 2 big dog beds here we can use plus some blankets. Good to hear about the peeing, im coming from horses so use to poop and pee is normal. How often should you stop and give them a toilet break? A very important question....how hard are they to reverse lol!

So some questions What do people travel in them with their dogs? Nothing, Dog Beds? How do you stop them slipping around? I just think travelling them on the hard surface for hours would be harsh but I dont know if thats the norm? One company told me to carpet the floor but I thought this might get rather smelly with urine etc and difficult to clean How do you clean them inside? How waterproof are trailers in general from rain etc

So im looking into getting a trailer and just wondering if anyone has any reviews on the Toledo trailers. I have found a few 2nd hand ones im interested in but want to here what people think first :)

After reading the previous thread I have just gone a bought my cocker spaniel and soon to welcome ESS puppy snugglesafe pads....compulsive shopper much! My husband and I have recently moved into our first rental property. After coming from a flat off my parents place where we have heating 24/7 through winter to only the occasional heating due to the cost we got a sharp surprise when we got back from our honeymoon a few days ago at how icey our little house got even though we live so close to Sydney...my parents house is 1hr further west so I thought it wouldn't be as cold as my parents house but oh no I was very wrong. I have since been worried about keeping the girls warm enough in the middle of the night then (hopefully) the perfect solution presented itself!! So thankyou DOGZ Online for introducing me to the Snugglesafe! Can anyone run me through how to use the pads to get the best out of them? Also each dog has a bed plus a crate which they will be kept in each night. The older dog a soft crate the puppy a metal one. Would it be a good idea to give them a blanket each? Should I cover the metal cage in a blanket? Do I put water in with them at night? Im worried they will tip it over... Thankyou for any help Willowlane

Waiting For A Puppy This Thread Is For You

Hi Everyone So I contacted my breeder 1month before the pups were due to be born and to say the wait has been torturous would be an understatement!! Well today (hopefully) I will finally get to meet my girl Willow as we have affectionately named her. Our other dogs are named Holly and Maple so we went along the same nature line. She is a English Springer Spaniel and I have a photo of her and lots of updates but to finally meet her will be a true dream come true. Then she will at last get to come home all being well on the 14th of May :D :D :D. The breeder has been beyond incredible with the help and support she has given me, I could not ask for anyone better especially as I am going to start showing for the first time. My biggest fear even thought I have had many puppies before who have had no problems with this is how to train her to pee out side the house instead of inside lol. Funny how the little things stump you even though you have trained other puppies to do it what feels like hundreds of times before. Overall im just excited, completely and utterly excited!!! -
I would prefer to help the smaller groups so not too fussed if we dont get stacks of donations but Im really looking forward to spending the day out with our dogs and family. I think setting up the cheaper microchipping is a great idea, the more identification that can be done the better. Same with the promotion of registration and desexing of pets. We have asked for the RSPCA's help before and always gotten a rather negative response or at least a less than helpful but Wires is little better.

We have 5 Humans and 4 Dogs participating :D Who else is making the trip? I think it is for such a great cause. We have to pull out one of our dogs as we will have a new puppy at our house by then and I dont want my girl to bring back anything but the other three are all from my family homes so they should all be fine. We even have our 3month old puppy participating. She is such a ball of energy but we figured if she gets tired we can carry her. She is a Border Collier with very very long legs and a huge tank of energy to burn so I think she will be fine lol. So our dogs participating are Fudge, Hubert and Oaki and maybe Holly but she is a bit old and I dont know if she will make the 2kms. I did hear there is a short track for older dogs. Does anyone know anything about this? Im sending out some emails today asking for some sponsorship but we dont have anything yet. I just dont know who to ask

Car Question For New Big Dog (Don't Laugh)
Willowlane replied to MAZNAT's topic in General Dog Discussion
Were about to have the same problem, needing to go from a hatchback with a car with a boot that can fit a dog! Great problem to have though :) My parents have a landcruiser that is brilliant, takes as many dogs/ goats and baby cows as you want but if you want something a bit smaller my mums Subi is amazing, im hoping to get a 2nd hand one. -
So which would you recommend and why? I heard rumblings things had not been so reliable at C-crate since its change of ownership but I might be wrong. What are VeboPets trolleys like?

English Springer Spaniel :)

If you leave them inside aren't you worried about little presents? We cant give them access to inside and outside without leaving the back door open, not advised in our neighbourhood unfortunately. what about getting her a dog house? Do the DAP collars really work?

Waiting For A Puppy This Thread Is For You

We its still a very long way off for us but hopfully we have our name down for a show puppy to be born around the 20th of March! Sooo Excited!! Now we just have to pray the mum has at least one girl and that she is of high enough show quality to be sold as a show puppy. Keep your fingers crossed for us xxx :D -
What breed? - Cocker Spaniel and a very talkative one :) How old? 18months old Inside/outside? Both What does her day consist of ? 2 walks a day 45mins each Then inside except for when I am out or when its time to go out to go to the toilet although I have been putting her outside for longer periods of time recently to add more separation between us How long since you moved? 1 month Did she start barking straight away? Yes What training did you do ? We are doing obedience training and along with that I have tried suggestions from the trainers along with bones, toys, feeding when leaving, putting a covering over the gate so she cant look out through the gate onto the road (shes eaten the wood on this). I have also tried leaving by the side gate so she has physically seen me leave like she use to at my old home. Also ignoring the behavious, rewarding when being good, trying to extend the period of time she is good etc.
-
So I have tried many things including giving the dog time to adjust to her new surroundings, soft muzzles, bones, toys and training but nothing is stopping the barking so I am moving onto anti bark collars and just wondering what works and what doesnt? I found this PetSafe Deluxe Outdoor Ultrasonic Dog Anti Bark Control - it works with ultra sonic waves but im sceptical if it would actually work? http://www.vebopet.com.au/dog/bark-control/petsafe-deluxe-outdoor-ultrasonic-dog-anti-bark-control.html#sthash.Bt0CIEcA.dpuf Then there is the anti shock or citronella spray collars. Has anyone used any of these before with sucess?

Hi everyone, I am a only new but I'm researching now so I'm ready. My first question is what is important for a good set up at a show if your staying all day? - Chairs - Is a trolley a good idea (cage on wheels with work bench on top)? What do people do for puppies as they must look tiny in a normal sized cage? - Shade - Whats best to use? - What else? Next Question is how do people transport the show trolleys? are they collapsible or do you need a 4wheel drive? What brands are good? Cheers Willow

Hi again, Just wondering if people can point me in the direction of some reputable ESS Kennels in NSW and Victoria who are breeding successful dogs with good lines using quality Dam’s and sire’s. Due to my limited knowledge I need guidance as to what I am looking for so I'm reading as much as I can but its very difficult to talk to breeders about other litters you might be considering along with theirs or over theirs and there is only so much information I can collect myself and know its correct. Cheers Willow

Thankyou very much for your replies. Yes I was more meaning reputable studs/kennels in NSW and also Victoria now.

Im looking into buying an English Springer Spaniel puppy and am trying to research as much as possible about them before making the final decision. I currently have a welsh springer spaniel and a cocker spaniel both just pets and I adore them! So I was wondering if people could share their experiences with this breed both as pets and as show dogs (this is something I would very much like to get into with guidance). Things like: 1.Temperament 2. Grooming 3. Health 4. Cost of showing, entry fees etc 5.how strong/competitive is the breed in the ring . trainability 7.do they get easily attached to people/other dogs 8. Energy levels 9.do they bark a lot 10. Are they loyal? 11. How often can you show, every weekend, once a month? 12. Is showing enjoyable or is it really as bitchy as everyone says it is? 13. Successful nsw studs in the ring, who are they, can you give me some names or bloodlines to lookup? 14. Where should I look for a puppy? What reputable kennels are there in NSW and Victoria? I have found a litter due soon that I'm very excited about and my fiancee and I are hopefully going to see the parents this weekend. The breeder was amazingly helpful and giving of her time so fingers crossed for us! Thankyou to anyone willing to help Willowlane Sorry for the messiness of my post i have typed it on my phone as my laptop has died....
