  1. This morning I had a new supervisor while I was having a shower and Gypsy has started coming for pats of her own volition.
  2. Things are improving - the tail is out and wagging a little and today she came down to the far end of the house to look for me on her own.
  3. 4 We are getting there - she slept inside last night - thank you Canberra winter nights and she let the dog wash man pat her when he came to wash Bella so next time it is her turn.
  4. Yes, she is on some pills but not really making any difference. Bella is OK - she just lives in her own world but that is OK, people know her and like her there.
  5. We have made some progress - yesterday we all had an afternoon snooze inside
  6. I really appreciate all these suggestions - keep them coming.
  7. Thanks for the ideas - I am going slowly - there is only one other dog here - an 18 year old border collie with dementia. The door is open so she can come and go. I wonder if she is scared of my walking stick. She will come for treats but not stay. I cannot sit on the floor because I cannot get up again. She will lick my fingers if I give her treats.
  8. I have just got a 5-6 year old female Koolie. She has been in 5 homes in 3 months and is confused and scared. She has spent most of her life as an outside dog. What can I do to help her settle in quickly and become an inside dog?
  9. I have always taken in a new dog when I lost one - there are so many in need and I always think my dogs who have gone would approve of me offering a home to another dog in need.
  10. Perhaps you should consider Koolies as well - they have an off switch, are good workers and excellent with children.
  11. Loved it - I got my current dogs through them - 16 year old Bella the Border and Diesel the Koolie.
  12. http://www.vatiro.org/2017/11/01/vet-refuses-to-euthanize-8-healthy-puppies-so-woman-stuffs-them-in-the-freezer/
  13. I am glad I am not the only one - they are such a joy to live with. My friends think I am mad but I have no regrets.
  14. I am older and have now started the Dame Perignon Home for Retired Working Dogs - I take dogs who are over 10 years old because they are usually slowing down and tend to be ignored in pounds because everyone wants young dogs. I currently have two 16 year olds - Diesel a Koolie and Bella a Border Collie. Works well for me and them. My last resident was Friskie who came at 14 and died recently at 20.
  15. Miele with a power head - leaves my Dyson for dead
  16. I think she had good genes and a lot of determination. She was a little sweetheart and I miss her.
  17. Thank you all. That is the third dog I have lost in 9 months - the house is very quiet without her and my bed is cold at night without her sleeping in the crook of my knees.
  18. Australilan Koolie Rescue is taking all of these dogs and is looking for foster carers - if anyone is interested then PM me.
  19. Here is an update - some have permanent homes now - a few have had to be euthanased - we are awaiting the next group to be released from the RSPCA http://www.nvi.com.au/story/4856388/koolies-seized-during-animal-cruelty-raids-find-new-homes-video-gallery/?cs=373#slide=1
  20. Sadly Friskie left for the bridge today - she was a very sweet girl who will leave a big hole.
  21. Two months did it. I am very grateful for the advice I got. She now has a new brother and sister - 16 year old Bella ( border collie) and 15 year old Diesel (a solid black Koolie)
