  1. I can tell you if you decide to take this on it will cost a lot of money and a lot of time you have to put in. It's not as easy as just a few lessons and a muzzle when it comes to dogs that have attacked others before. Also consider the dogs long term quality of life if you are not able to walk it or socialise it in public properly because of its potential to cause harm. A dog like this is never just 'fixed' per say, it comes down to decreasing the chance of it happening again to a safe level and having procedures in place if the dog is put in a position where it feels the need to exhibit aggressive behaviour, you can prevent it happening or decrease the reaction.
  2. sounds harsh but that is not your primary concern of PTS. The dog needs to be professionally reasessed to see if it actually is suitable. If it is attacking dogs and cannot be controled by an owner it is not a pet anymore, it is a dangerous animal that needs management. Better then you or your father being liable for massive vet bills or the dog being slapped with a dangerous dog provision which means bigger money - fully enclosed run in the backyard, muzzling at all times, high registration fees etc.
  3. you cannot cart a big dog vs a little dog like that. If the big dog has a collar on you choke the living daylights out of it until it lets go and if you are alone shove the little one away with your foot. It was the only way I got a 50kg dog off a SWF. This also stops the shaking a big dog does that tends to cause more damage then a grip alone. Two evenly matched dogs you can pull apart by grabbing the back legs. Pull a little one out of a big ones mouth you will damage it more. Most dogs in a fight dont feel pain. Add more by gouging eyes or yanking balls and you cause them to grip harder. Trust me I've taken a flying kick at a dogs balls and it did absolutely nothing. Plus you risk being attacked yourself since you are another cause of pain. And dogs in that mode move VERY fast.
  4. have you rang the RSPCA? I would be contacting them first. If the dog is a danger and aggressive I would be giving it back to them.
  5. I do love Ivan's dogs, I'm planning to buy at least one or two one day to try them out. He does have the right idea with socialisation and environmental enrichment. Dogs need this, not kenneling.
  6. sorry but those bandogs did look rather awesome :p
  7. secondary poisoning can occur since poisoned rats will be slow and stumbling. If they are using one feed one kill baits it will easily poison a shepherd. Did they do blood tests?
  8. Catahoulas get papers from the National Association of Louisiana Catahoulas Depending on the lines not all dogs are bull breed looking particularly the heavy merle ones
  9. Malinois are not all extreme. Depends which line you go for, Amanda Russels dogs would fit the bill. The show lines have plenty of drive without that super working temperament which is too much for some people. www.malinois.net.au Mine have oodles of drive but are not a pain in the bum. You have to train them about quiet time no matter the high drive dog.
  10. an extremely large border collie? Malinois does depends how much drive you want
  11. must just be all of them hate me my friends dog is sociable but I've noticed they all tend to go through snob periods ... mmm dont like you today going over here the pharoah pups are just awesome little snuggle bums though
  12. no Jaybeece the law was always there its just no one ever policed it on the trains.
  13. The tests do not cover APBT but saying that if your dog does have say 50/50 two recognised non APBT breeds then there is little room to argue. Something is better then nothing at all at the moment.
  14. They're going to include possible crosses in there too. No proof - problem. Lost Dogs Home is behind this big time. They believe that pit bulls and their mixes can just snap with no warning even if they seem OK. I am strongly urging people to provide their council with certified copies of DNA tests and pedigree papers NOW before rangers start rattling gates and knocking on fences.
  15. The government is listening to the Lost Dogs Home. Awesome. Cosmolo if you're NOT home lock the dogs in the house. We're going to even though we have a pedigree DDB. I dont want my dog taken while I'm not home because some ignorant council worker decides he's an APBT due to muscles and red colouration.
  16. We have a pharoah at dog club who was totally unsocialised as a pup. Very flighty and shakes, pulls away, barks a lot etc. Remember pharoahs are a quite standoffish breed and can be drama queens anyway especially when they don't know you. The bathing and front feet issue dont sound much different from the average frightened rehomed pharoah so far. Just be a firm consistent leader and dont pander to the drama. Take things slowly, quietly and gently with the dog.
  17. We sell them at work, what size are you after? If you get desperate let me know, I'll buy them and post to you. Im making jumps and weaves myself at the moment.
  18. that photo wasnt a SBT by any means ... I think the reporter jumped the gun and had no idea what he was talking about but he printed anyway! send the link to the staffy club of Vic ETA I emailed News.com.au about the mistake and especially about the photo which was meant to represent a SBT
  19. Wow trained to kill - can I see the video of that? That's a new one for me that existing = training Also that dog was not an APBT. So many cyclical arguments
  20. You need separation anxiety diagnosed by a professional first. No calmatives work without a thorough regime of behaviour modification as well. What does your dog do?
  21. Thats why I just get a good quality puppy food and pretty much stick with it except for a few extras. My pup was too pudgy on BH. I'd be moving the pup onto at least frames, even some good mince like 50/50 chicken beef, or some roo as well.
  22. desex all the people in the video as a start ...
  23. If I can't enjoy vegemite saladas you can't either ... SHARE MY SUFFERING! NO SALADA FOR YOU!
  24. something had to make me laugh Pers ... I wish I could have taken a photo of that look on his face - it was total joy mixed with coniving bastard. I have never seen a dog to put on such a show! Crunching away like 'oh wow, these Saladas are soooooo good ... oh oh whats that? You can't reach them? Oh I'll just have to OM NOM NOM NOM this one too .... oh mmmmm to goood ... mmm I'm a little thirsty let me quence my thirst with this awesome orange beverage .... mmm frosty and delicious ....'
