  1. ok we have foster for the lab he's arriving wednesday ... can someone remind me how I turned into a dog rescue? O_o
  2. if you want to make sure your raw diet is complete look into the Vets All Natural range. You dont have to feed kibble for the extra 'vitamins' ... it's a heat processed product, not a vitamin pill. You can either make your own diet and add the Health Booster powder or just use the Complete Mix with the meat of your choice. www.vetsallnatural.com.au
  3. OK Does anyone in Vic have space for a ~6yo male labrador, fully vet worked, has until the end of the week with the family. Conversely is there anyone around Geelong/Werribee/Bellarine Peninsula who can foster him, I will pay for food and train him until I find him a home. My friend is going to foster an 11yo female pug (speyed) we are going to get her rotten teeth taken out, full dental then find her a home. If you know of someone who would like a golden oldie in about a months time just PM me You can PM me for either of these dogs, the lab is a bit urgent in at least finding temp foster. He's a great dog, no aggression etc at all
  4. thats a lot of protein and fat, 32/22%. Probably just a bit too rich for him try some protexin.
  5. it is very possible to be allergic to pumpkin, particularly the squash types like butternut. They can induce stomach cramps, vomiting, diahrreah, rashes etc
  6. http://www.stayz.com.au/79992 it's close to everything, there is a vet walking distance from this place and self contained.
  7. It's made by a horse herbs company isnt it?
  8. Why dont you try the Vets ALl Natural mix and some lean protein, plenty of fibre in there to help with the anal glands
  9. W sibs is right there is no recourse for your dogs actions. SHe's too old to be going through a 'phase', you either teach her biting is wrong or end up putting up with it long term. Thumb under the tongue or if she starts being out of control just scruff her. At her age she'll scream, fuss and carry on like a banshee but its something she should have been taught about 5 months ago. The tantrums are just like toddler tantrums ... loud but no long term harm for the dog at all.
  10. http://australianpettreatcompany.com.au/categories/Pet-Treats/Vegetarian-Treats/ these are all vegetarian, do you mean no protein at all or no animal protein?
  11. My rottie would ... he would tell off the naughty dogs on Cesar Milan and then if he gave a command Diesel would listen instantly and keep staring intently at the TV like 'oh tell me what to do next great guru' he would also bark at people have rude scenes my two now will do it, Rogue watches nature documentaries intently. Big cats on the TV get her, she saw a puma once walking across the screen, she just stared as it wander out of shot then she cautiously peeked behind the tv wondering where it went
  12. oh as tempting as that sounds I would rather she be single dog/no more then 2 dog family so she gets enough attention and love ... she's so quiet the others would never let her get any cuddle time  OH is in love but I promised him a Frenchie down the track if we find her a home
  13. I think if you've discounted a husky as a dog to own an akita isn't a good substitute.
  14. cetrigen spray, then just scrape off the scabby bits with a tooth brush as it dries. Cetrigen, superglue and betadine, you can rule the world with that lol
  15. Isn't it amazing what you find wandering around farms in Geelong ... one good to go, obedience trained, bomb proof female Malinois. She came with the name Scooby but we can't change it ... all you have to do is call SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOBY DOOBY DOOOOOOOOO! in the backyard and she races around like a jackrabbit already engaging in synchronised yawning  she's only a foster, if you know anyone with dog experience, has a very secure backyard and wants an indoor sleeping companion dog she's perfect. ADORES men over women. Oh no cats though, she's a little too interested in the skittering critters
  16. photos would be good. Upload a photo of him too. If you're concerned about his sudden weight loss you should be seeing a veterinarian if he is losing condition
  17. yeah heard of these wolf mixes. Not a good idea in Europe and not a good idea here but oh well people buy what they buy. I emptied my folder I didnt realise it was that full O_o
  18. I know a couple of people at Pet Resorts and I don't see how they would neglect the dogs. If you have been happy there before I would continue using it. As for reviews, unless you see the actual proof remember, there is a lot of access these days for EVERYONE's opinion on the internet. If your dog came back happy and cared for then why believe someone you have never met. As for places like guard dog training centre ... the proverbial ten foot pole is not long enough.
  19. does she have police reports for all these vandalism attacks and attempted break in? Every time it happens she NEEDS to get a police report done, provide those to the council and it can help explain any unusual barking.
  20. how did we manage to get straight timberwolf crosses in the country, they are illegal. Or are they part 'czech wolfdog' that some people supposedly have up in QLD. What kind of work are they actually suited to? Do they have guarding ability? How much tracking has the male done?
  21. But this comes down to your raising and training, not only the dogs innate stimulus threshold. I had a dogue for 6 years, he was sharp as a tack and fast when he wanted to be - hell he grew up with a working line Malinois. I love dogues, I wish I could clone my Skoota as he was the best all rounder. I have 3 working line Malinois now which run rings around most other breeds, I dont have hyperactivity problems. Work on stimulus control, wearing them out through their mind working not just exercise like a good run. Boerboel - No, probably not the best foray into mastiffs but I do agree with Tasnchief, the only way to know for sure is to go meet the dogs, play with some adults and see which lines suit you. Also listen for breeders happy to tell you the BAD points, not just 'oh no, great with kids, bombproof, no probs etc.'.
  22. I heard from the company it can give them a but too much energy, for dogs that cannot keep weight on it can help them slip back a bit. You can always try a bag and see how it goes, the only way to tell really
  23. SK why have you got a bark collar on your Mali already?
  24. It's on the Bellarine Peninsula, about 20 minutes out of Geelong
  25. could have worked a little too well, I've had similar things happen with my own stomach ... food goes in then simply no function for days
