  1. Tapferhund those photos are great wow look at the snarl on the little darling! Sasjeep malinois breeders wear lead pants so the pups cant latch on
  2. get him a long line and keep him on it. Any trouble just reel him back in Until you trust your dog and have good recall you shouldnt let him off. Never chase your dog, it makes recall harder as he sees it as a game to avoid you.

    Chewing...

when they open their eyes they dont just stop, its something you have to train an dprevent your dog from doing. Have a look at some of the other puppy threads about chewing and nipping for advice.
  4. I dont see the point in owning a dog if it spends its life outdoors. I have crates for mine and they now sleep in my bedroom with the added bonuses of protection and peace Yes if they are inside all the time and suddenly you make a sudden shift in their lives (like spending majority of time outside while you are home) the dog is going to be wondering what the heck is going on. Its completely shifting its pack structure for it, and for some breeds especially that are so people orientated, can be hard so they carry on. Can get used to it but I dont see a point to it.

    Biting Pup

never wait for things to pass. Remember your dog will get away with what you allow. Biting is a pups way of initiating play in the litter but keep letting it and you will have a dog that bites HARD and jumps all over you. When the pup nips grab it by the scruff and growl GRRRR NO. Let it settle, if it continues then turn around and walk off, leave it alone. Let it know that rough play is NEVER acceptable. NEVER smack the puppy, push it etc. One grab, firm but not too rough and the pup will get the idea. Remeber be consistant and persistant. Keep treats and toys so when the pup settles you show it what it can munch on. Never punish a dog without showing it what the right thing to do is - you end up with a pup that gets nervy from being told off all the time. Most of all have patience and a heck of a lot of fun cos the little buggers grow up quick! Photos pleeeeeeeeease!
  6. yep I have one for my Malinois and Scope bought one for her Rotty. I dont order through the site I email Guy directly so I make sure he gets the order correct. If the option is there it can be made. That agitation harness is nice and strong, but can you measure your BM neck and chest when you PM me. Order wont be for a couple of weeks and I wont be taking any money till I start collating. NB exchange rate is about .77cAU to the US$1 so the stuff isnt that expensive. Remember to allow for shipping. When I get an invoice I will send everyone a copy and we split it between us. People who want extra postings I will get in touch with Aistralia Post and send you the exact amount for postage (or pinch overnight satchels from work heheheh)
  7. you can send ebay an email but the best way is to keep an eye out. Best bet is to register it stolen with the police and send ebay a report saying that these items are hot and so they would be in trouble selling them. granted how rare these things are advertising them on ebay is asking for trouble. They were probably pinched for backyard use.
  8. Sure I could get you some. Did you want the multi purpose police type lead? Really strong trust me if my Bordeaux cant break it no one will! I can stick them in a satchell, they are light but can be coiled up too.
  9. I think obedience classes are a great idea. Socialisation, mental stimulation plus you can make some great friends along the way. You would be suprised how much more settled dogs are after a training session and they actually look foreward to it! They dont shed that much. if the kids are old enough make it their job to brush her every day before she comes inside. Grab a crate and train her to sleep in that, and to use the crate as 'her' area. Dogs inside dont have to run riot, thats not the point. I dont allow my two on furniture, in the kitchen or near the dining table, but they have their mat in the living room and then they sleep in my room (spot the single girl) but will have crates so they dont bother my ex in his room at night. Apart from that there is no sign, hair or smell from the dogs. She would be happy just to be near and part of the family.
  10. those darn americans ... oooooooh ATTACK CHI!!! conversely I could try and train my gimpy 3 legged cat ... Shutzcat

  13. http://www.pbase.com/cattledog/poe_schutzhund now who says that only some breeds can do schutzhund
  14. I want to make an order from www.fordogtrainers.com in a couple of weeks. Was wondering if anyone wanted to jump in on my order and grab stuff they needed? Anyone in Melb can see stuff I have purchased (harness, leather lead, wire muzzle) but the quality of the stuff is magic! It does take about 2-3 weeks at the most to get here though. PM me details, I'll be using my Visa card so money can be put in my account for that too. Cheers Jules
  15. by the sounds of it she's bored and lonely. GRs are an active, intelligent breed that cant just be left alone in the backyard all the time. You should take her for two walks a day, get things like Kongs, a sand pit, big marrow bones etc to keep her interested and do obedience with her at least a couple of days a week to keep her mind stimulated. Any dog will do this if left alone. You cant walk most days, you should walk every day. Why did you get a dog if you only walk it sometimes and never let it indoors?
  16. ok the ages dont make sense to me. you bought one a month ago and only now it got its second vaccination. A tiny pomeranian puppy should still be with its mother at 8-10 weeks old, I hope that they are older! Pomeranians are people dogs. Why did you buy this breed if you leave them outside in the yard. Plus at that age they are sensitive to the weather, attack from other animals, parasites etc and should be inside. Yes puppies whine but coddling it creates a sooky, clingy dog (especially if it was too young in the first place) puppies play, and make noise. When they wake up, after they eat etc They are teeny tiny doggies how much noise could they possibly make! If you are worried about the hours they play at, crate train them (get a little crate each) and they sleep inside at night in their individual crates. No accidents, no mess and no noise unless they are desperate for a pee. Dont you DARE even think about putting a bark collar on these dogs. They are babies. They are bored and playing with each other get used to it. You should have researched the breed better before going out and getting two of them. Is it fair to have two puppies just sit quietly and stare at each other all day for fear of beign sprayed in the eyes with toxic, stinging citronella? If you DID by them from a registered breeder (which if they were sold at below 8 weeks old they wouldnt be) call them and ask for help as well as breeders know their dogs. And registered as in with the state Canine Council with real papers. Do some searches - Crate Training, House Training - and start implementing them. If they dont learn about it then you will have two dogs you never let inside because they pee everywhere and for poms thats cruel. Also get them desexed (I dont like hearing that too expensive excuse its for your animals welfare) or when they get older you will have dog fights with two entire males.
  17. hang on ... they are both 8 weeks or 8 months ... how old were they when you got them?
  18. dawwwww look at all those little maligators you gotta wonder where the bitch fits them all eh?
  19. is that an invitation to come visit Jeff? Dirty mongrels. I rue the day anyone tries to pinch my stuff but I might start engraving all my equiptment
  20. they do. When I had a puppy preschool there was one little pup who was scared to, I got the owner to ignore its pining behaviour but didnt let the other pups clamber all over it either. by week 3 the little scamp was wrestling a golden!! If you discount them from all the fun they soon start thinking its not so bad and remember how it was with their own littermates so want a go too! I wouldnt fuss too much, its not that traumatic unless the preschool trainer lets all the dog run over yours.
  21. heheheheeh they are aren't they!!! Very smart little cookie but needs some more time to get used to his home and new family so take it nice and slow, keep training times fun and he will be wrapped around your finger although usually you end up wrapped around their little paw
  22. what breed do you have btw? even if you dont hammer obedience into him now doesnt mean you cant do agility. As a pup I wouldnt be pushing agility because the exercise should be limited up to 12 months, no jumping etc.
  23. ah yes the workers are a whole different category. I know a few people that rely more on the wokring the actual paper side but still pass it off as a 'Belgian Malinois' which in reality should be called a cross. I have seen a website promoting 'black working malinois' but they look a bit weird. Then again if you look at pretzel dog she's a weirdo anyway hehehe
  24. well you better say hi I will be doing it from February this year WOOT WOOT OK Secrets out Nekh's doin NDTF ... and gues who's lucky little Malinois is going to be the guinea pig for the substance detection and Tracking classes
