  1. he could be better from the anti-inflammatories. They have a tendency to mask existing problems. Take him to the Chiro anyway do NOT simply let it go because he looks better to you. A chiro is cheap and it cant hurt to have some manipulation and be shown massage you can do at home as well.
  2. sounds to me like you are being descriminated against for owning a dog and being pushed out of your own home ... A Current Affair or Today Tonight would be a good place to go to as well I think wont that make all the BC people look like heartless bastards for forcing you to either give up your dog or leave a home that YOU own.

    Desexing

they wont try and get out to mate they wont fight other dogs (especially bitches) when in season they wont bleed all over your house they wont get the hormonal crankies and either shred everything in sight, or sook up to you something chronic oh you are SO better off desexing her
  4. number 1 is rediculous if you prove you regularly maintain your dog with products. Humans carry more diseases that can cause outbreaks in other people then bloody dogs do. And unless you are picking dog poo with your hands and eating it then how are you going to transfer worms? As for fleas - guess what. The roaming cats do more to spread fleas then most dogs ever will so argument is null and void. number 2 is extra rediculous if you OWN your unit. WHo's business is it anyway with wear and tear? You own it you replace it! So what, no guests either because they contribute to wear and tear? please number 3 - well I hope they have installed ramps, handrails and foam padding on everything because there are a hundred more ways for a senior citizen to hurt themselves then having an imaginary dog jump on them number 4 is crap also. A drunk neighbour may attack before a dog. I hope they dont allow cars because those things cause a shiteload of damage, especially when half blind elderly citizens cannot drive them properly They are rediculous, if you have been allowed all this time to keep your dog then fight it. Also why the heck would you consider giving it back to the pound?
  5. what about a doggy toothbrush. A couple of times a week give them a good scrub, the food misses half the teeth anyway like the incisors and canines.
  6. she's a baby belgian not a bully breed, let her mature at her own rate. You dont see 4 year old kids but huge hunking muscles its the same for a dog
  7. oh they are GREAT! I used to pick them up for $2 YUP $2 from the vic market! so funny seeing a 6 month old Malinois on top of a pigs head trying to wrestle the ear off it I think it lasted her 3 days before it got festy and needed chucking
  8. theyre fine. I gave my dogs duck feet and a head once, the rotty ran around with a beak poking out of his gob for a while looked like he swallowed a duck backwards
  9. minis are new and quite expensive from what I've seen. Her skin looks about normal. Try Eagle Pack holistic - I would try the fish formula first and NO TREATS OR ANYTHING ELSE. you need to exclusively feed that food for at least a couple of weeks, if she is still bad then try the duck formula. get a thryoid test for her ASAP
  10. I emailed Royal Canin, their food is NOT IRRADIATED when entering Australia.
  11. you sound like you're hovering around her and contributing ... catching the dog when it got scared?! put the bowl down and walk away, leave it there and ignore her behavior. In 20 minutes come back and pick it up. You stress to much over her food and now she's stressing as well. She no way looks like she's in immediate danger of starving to death so ease up on her for a while. My rottweiler lived almost 3 weeks with no food in him, just a drip, so a healthy dog not eating for a couple of days will not kill her. Stop fiddling with the food Stop worrying about the dog give her a tiny meal even just on a plastic plate or on the ground, walk away, chill out in front of the telly and when your show is over go collect whats left (if anything)
  12. why dont you just use a collar and fine lead? the dog doesnt need all this paraphenalia at his age you are creating problems. work on walking in the back yard, if he bolts ahead, turn around and start walking in the opposite directions jiggling the lead to encourage him to follow.
  13. do you have her as a schutzhund/security dog? PM me if you prefer on this one. My Malinois was similar. Her hormonal maturity between 12 and 18 months coupled with being a bitch in season and her system working itself out left her with some fears. Also having a trainer punch her in the head once was not helpful but oh well we worked through that. what happens when she is fearful? Do you get nervous as well or do you ignore it and pretty much tell her 'come on dont be silly, get over it we've got work to do'. My rotty at the moment is playing hit the deck at 15 months (he's such a dag if you get cranky at him he'll whine like you hurt him and drops ) because the other dogs have cranked at him a couple of times as well. from the sounds of it either something has happened (another handler or maybe a possible break in at your place) or she has gone through a fear period and somehow you are perpetuating the behaviors ... if her blood screens are all clear. I would give her a break, let her be a house dog for a couple of weeks and see how she goes as well, maybe she just needs a rest.
  14. eeeeeeexcellent ... see I dont just talk poopy after all the dryer and less smell the more the dog has actually digested its food and left behind literally inedible, undigestible poo! We feed such concetrated foods and then wonder why dogs naturally go back and think 'waste not want not' dark poos are rare around here and dogs are not starving either. No smell and they scoop cleanly or crumble into the lawn. ETA just monitor your dogs intake of edible bones because too much with no 'roughage' will cause constipation. Everything in a balance and you will be fine, its just finding that balance for your dog
  15. meat scraps, rice and vege scraps cant go wrong and cheap as chips. You can always add some flax seed oil etc to it if your dog needs it I can feed my 3 for $10 a week
  16. ah haaa found the australian "E-Beam' Process Titan was the company that built the australian irradiation factories this is from Here ETA I also saw that tropical and imported fruit cops this treatment ... no more imports for me
  17. I dont understand how irradiating a product 'contaminates' it with a neurotoxin I may not be a nuclear physicist but that sounds iffy to me. Unless an already existing contaminant is somehow activated by it. I'm looking for info into the entire irradiation process at the moment its a little hard to find
  18. dogs seem to love the smell of fresh earth, or plant roots as well. Well my dogs do anyway the best surprise was when I saved some fresh poo and covered it lightly. The rotty went to his usual spot and rucked in to SPLAT into a fresh poo. Should have seen his face EWWWWWWWWW I STOOD IN POOPY and held his paw up hopping around
  19. is there other people who handle or train the dog for you? sometimes hormones can create weird reactions coupled with a good fear period. I would still hold the 'I dont accept your reaction' ideal and not let the dog influence you with its responses. Be a little more regimented while you do a couple of blood tests it cant hurt.
  20. ahh yes but the law has created so many backyard cowboys here in Victoria that even so called professionals have astounded me with there stupidity at what they consider training. The good trainers (oddly enough) left and few that remain are normal around there here hills. So I beg to differ that a dog that is 'security trained' is better then the average pet. Yes a PROPERLY trained dog is better. But some security or civil dogs are just bonkers. We need a change in the law to help prevent these animals not restrictions that ironically create more of them.
  21. because it smells good and he wants to explore. There are 'Keep Off' Crystals you can purchase that you sprinkle on the area or fresh dog poo covered shallow will work. get him out of the habit now or they keep going. The pool is a good idea but you have to entice them by burying little tidbits into it
  22. marrow bones are full of fat. I would be filling a treat ball with her days worth of RC diet (less then what you give) and thats it. If she's hungry give her a carrot to gnaw on. chicken carcasses too I would give sparingly.
  23. 3 cups of advanced puppy is quite a bit for a 12 week old. like I said up the amount of raw food until you see dry poo that is not brown/yellow. He wont be as hungry either. You wont automatically give a puppy diarrhea if you do things slowly, I would start adding a neck a day and go up from there.
  24. Gretel lower the dry food and increase the things like chicken wings and necks. Her poo will become chalkier (when my dogs get a heap of carcasses the poo is white and crumbly) and she wont want it at all.
  25. what is your puppies diet. We saw coprophagic puppies at the clinic because of lack of nutrition or they were not digesting their food properly hence it was tasty. oh if you have a cat they consider kitty cat krunchies (litter covered kitty poo) a delicacy change the diet to a better food, feed more raw food (like chicken necks, wings, lamb flaps etc) and the poo will be so well digested there will be nothing worth eating. Also sometimes it has come from the fact the puppy has been hungry and had nothing to eat except poo (sometimes more common in rescues/neglect cases) pick up the poo as soon as you see it, fix the diet to more raw food and a good dry food like Royal Canin, Eagle Pack etc and you should see it disappear.
