Looking For Lure Corsing In Melbourne?
Nekhbet replied to Zippa's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Rhodesian Ridgeback club of Victoria runs it at KCC park in skye, check the website for the upcoming dates I've been a few times its a wonderful day out -
so lock a person in their bedroom a few hours a day and they will be terrified of the outside world? errrrr .. Your pup has some fear issues because it may require a little more socialisation especially before 16 weeks. I would start puppy school if you havnt already or have some dogs visit that you know are clean and vaccinated.

Fl:ow On Effect And How To Moderate It?
Nekhbet replied to DavidWW's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
through my own experimentation I've found desexing one and leaving another entire is easier to manage. I would still separate throughout season but you then tip the balance. One is not a cycling dog, the other is a full hormonal cow  just like in the wild. Saying that desexing a bossy bitch wont solve your problems. Saying that cranky entire bitches can have ovarian cysts that create irritation and bad behavior. If you have an animal thats particularly bitchy all the time, especially in season, might pay to get it checked by a vet. -
I have two dogs that sleep outside and they put themselves to bed. BUT some breeds are not 'sleep outside' dogs. Small and toy breeds are VERY owner orientated and many people find that outside at night combined with work hours alone create stressed and yappy dogs. THey are also quite sensitive to temperature - you chose a breed that was bred to be with humans a lot and live inside a lot as well, not something like a larger working breed that can cope with winter and summer. Thats the only point they would be worried about. No one is picking on you its just a breed need more then anything else. Ask most spitz breeders, I'm sure you would get 'err why do you want a little spitz then' The dog doesnt have to rule the house, neither should it ever be allowed to! Set the rules, hence a crate. Nothing wrong with it sleeping in a crate with you so it feels secure. Also its a bit confusing to the dog to be allowed to be inside when a pup then outside later when it grows up and wants to have more of a relationship with you.

considering some roosters get to 15 pounds and are VERY powerful animals I wouldnt have a chuckle. Some of them are just tenacious. Geese too.
-
You are aiming for the wrong breed if you only want it to be inside when you are. Would the breeder you are buying the dog from agree to having it live outside 365 nights a year? Japanese Spitz are people dogs, and the crate will be fairly small. It only has to be large enough for the dog to sleep in not run circles So if you cover it with a little towel or something it wont be that prominent in the house.

for a growing dog I always stick with a good kibble and then give raw meaty bones on top and some scraps if I have them. No stress, no fuss and you know the dog is getting what it needs
-
Its 22% Protein, 10% fat and 5% Fibre The cooking process can change the consistancy of kibble, as this one is around 70% cereals. If you are getting increase in poo then you have a great decrease in digestability. The reasonable fat content will keep most dogs looking shiny and well weighted, as well as some canola and soy. two of my dogs would have to be eating 6 cups a day, the other 4 cups. Thats an aweful lot of poo to be collecting But I', glad it does work well for so many people, its nice to not have to squeeze the wallet until even the moths have all gone too *sigh* I wish the RC was cheaper

sure just make sure you punch a few holes in the box its getting warm down here

You cannot expect a 13 week old puppy to 'know' what is right by human standards. How is a pup going to know what is correct unless you provide a consequence? It doesnt have to be earth shattering, just an 'BAHHH' is enough for them to get the drift. Look what other puppies and their own mother does when they try something not tolerable! Remember dog learn through remembering patterns and what they get from a behavior, not like people who we can rationalise with before the behavior occurs. It is never too early to correct the bad and reinforce the good, in fact the earlier you start the more cemented it becomes in the dog. Critical period is up until 16 weeks you should be actually slightly more regiment on him now then later. This is when all the good and bad habits are more maleable. I wish I had gotten my rottie at 8 weeks it would have made life a WHOLE lot easier *sigh*

Charlotte’s Breeding A Bone Of Contention

what it the dog and what was it purchased as? -
how do they prove the other half? If it looks like a restricted breed cross and they deem it so there's no leg to stand on.
-
already been for 2 weeks in house training? what did they say? Did they get his barking under control? have you tried snapping him out of it with a sealed milo can with a few ball bearings/rocks in it (shake it quickly to make a loud noise) or a loud whistle to snap him out of it? He needs corrections that are effective. Hard when I can't see the dog! Hormones by no means fix the problem - I simply reccomend it as a way to decrease the hormones and severity of hormonal periods. Yes I prefer undesexed until they're a bit older as well Seems to be a lot of people in NSW needing training I better move for a while

control and obedience to break this habit. You definately need to contact a good dog trainer ASAP to give you some one on one help with him then enrole into a good school to give him a weekly structured outing. Cockers can be difficult if they think they're top dog, which he does but they are also a working breed that needs structure, rules, and activities to be happy. As for hyperactivity I would 1) desex him ASAP if he is not a show dog 2) look at his diet 3) work on obedience instead of letting him maniacally run around. He needs to burn off mental energy as well as physical energy. If you can have a look at trainers like Cesar Milan you can grab some great tips there many processed foods contribute to hyperactivity in dogs, what diet is he on? oh and where are the photos? American or English cocker?

from http://www.lauckemills.com.au/dogfood1.html I cant risk feeding it because of the wheat and cereals. I tried to cut corners one day and my Dogue started losing hair in chunks! So now they get chicken carcasses, veges and rice. Its all we can afford at the moment.

my dogs get black gunk but its from all the fine dust around and they roll in it. Its in their coats as well. If they're not scratching then dont clean too often. I use unscented baby wipes to clean the outer ear, which is where most of the dirt and wax is going to be. I dont use ear cleaners, when I did I used Epi-Otic but that was more to help flush the ears out when they all decided to roll in the dirt one day. There are some spaniel people around with better advice then me I dont have hairy eared dogs Mine are fairly wash and wear

it is rather early for a dog to be getting fatty lumps. We saw a lot of little fluffies come through the clinic when older, fatty lumps every where. Poodles, maltese, crosses, etc had them and we always took a fine needle aspirate (where they suck some cells out with a needle and look under the microscope) to make sure it wasnt anything serious. keep an eye one it, but dont fiddle with it too much. You end up stressing yourself out

These are a bit old but anyway ... home made Dolmades stuffed peppers (before going in the oven )
-
canine acne or follicilitis? I'd get a vet check and some antibiotics if it is thats a pain to clear otherwise.
-
because the media and the uneducated public are the first to lob them all in together - Oh that dog that did that was an Amstaff so they must all be bad! ANd sheltering under the umbrella that people worked so hard to get in order to flount the law ... its not fair or right.
-
We'll have to continue this accent education over fush n chups ... sex o'clock sound good
