  1. full brother sister mating, very rare breed I'll PM you. Dogs temperament was just way too much
  2. yup just pick off the tip, squeeeze out the gunk and just use either salty water or betadine to wipe it. Trick is keep the scab off so the oxygen can get in
  3. warn once ... shoot once. How terrible for your son
  4. depends on the breed too have seen close bred LGD and it was just too much. Also close bred Mals, GSDs etc turn out nut cases in some instances. Too much concentration frankly I wouldnt be touching it unless there was an astronomically spectacular reason it was done.
  5. Having had the microchip needle go straight into the fleshy part of my thumb I can tell you it is so sharp it doesnt hurt most dogs having a whinge are either sooking or the microchipper is being too rough/not knowing what theyre doing
  6. I tell you what if I had an anaesthetic machine I would have done my dogues op myself $500 today, $500 last week my whole pay for another 2 weeks gone. I have to see if anything is left over, thank god I keep the freezer full with discounted meats and veges
  7. seems like the dog has done something like this before although, lack of detail, if the mal had grabbed a tiny dog it wouldnt take much to kill it. Hmmm let dog out and didnt come back when called ... makes you wonder if the handler or dog was untrained
  8. what a pack of bastards donations ... I'm sure. Wouldnt want to have to spend a cent more then you have to on your stock
  9. Assume it will wander unless it is not pushy with the fence. I loved all the people in the surrounding farms who always said their dogs never wandered... I suppose that meant never further then the next postcode I saw supposed homebody dogs nick off every now and again. I hated it, it was just as annoying out there as it was in the city. Keep him on a running line or a dog pen. Conversely an E collar can dissuade him from trying out fences
  10. He has a lot of drive. Was he from a farm/working dogs originally? Sounds like you need to stimulate his brain a lot more, get some interactive toys for him and block access to reflections. If there is herding clubs as well take him! He sounds very intelligent, and running around will not compensate for doing metal activity particularly in a dog made to work sheep for quite a few hours of the day.
  11. I take it from the age you did not get her from a registerd breeder? What were the parents like? Stable, friendly etc Remember your dog is going to grow into a very large dog. Probably pushy, stubborn and not afraid to tell you what to do I'd be more afraid the dog falls off the bed and hurts itself. I would be teaching something that grows that big to use a bed or a crate (or you end up with 50kg trying to snap your knee in half at 1am like my rottie) Sharing creates begging. Feed the dog out of it's own bowl when you're done or you will end up with a pushy beggar of a dog that harasses you when you eat ... and rotties LOVE food a bit of confusion, you then dont tell her what she is to do (is she now right, wrong etc) so she goes 'aaaah bugger it I'll try it again'. Puppies will try everything, if they can get away with it they will push harder or try another behavior to get to the end goal they will try it. That is a dogs nature, and the process of learning. She is in no way a teenager at all yet. If she is growling when she drops get a vet check, if nothing then she doesnt want to drop. I qould ignore her growling, turn around and discontinue attention if she's going to be like that. Read here http://leerburg.com/ebooks/puppygroundwork.pdf http://leerburg.com/housebrk.htm http://leerburg.com/pdf/Training%20Puppies...20to%20Bite.pdf as a start for rotties as for people not touching the dog, you are better off teaching the pup that people are great, but we sit and behave before they give us attention. You are not going to have a working dog so ignore that part of Eds advice I agree you need a good puppy preschool with someone experienced in large breeds and will show you how to deal with unruley behavior efficiently but also how to train your dog properly and clearly.
  12. I do visits in point cook, my contact details are in my siggy. I pretty much will travel anywhere around Vic

I look down and there's D bent in a donut shape with his nose near his bum ... WAITING FOR A FART THEN HIS SNIFFS IT ;) My dog is speshal where do I apply for a refund
  20. :D thats what OH says to me all the time when I'm on the net "who's wrong on the interwebs"
  21. I dont get it. I'll wait for the recorded seminar. We are trying to quantify fluid and ever changing traits in a living creature. We're not baking a cake on mass for a supermarket shelf (although from the sounds of it we are, how sad) not every family is the same. Not every family wants the same traits in their pet dog. What is perfect for one family is a disaster for another, is that not why the dog is the ultimate companion? That there are so many different options out there, that we celebrate the breed differences? Obviously not. A hyperactive nut of a dog can be taught to be a calm, happy family pet with the right training. So in essence see the same dog at two separate times and you will see two different dogs that produce two different results. Whats the point? Unless you test for deep seeded primal traits that cannot be covered or trained out with any amount of work (which would involve complicated and highly specialised testing) I dont see the point. If you want the perfect dog, go to Kmart, he's in the toy isle. Sounds like puppy farmers trying to excuse what their doing with some scientific backup. You should always select for a stable, 'amicable' dog no matter the breed or job the dog will have (pet, hunter, police dog etc) 7 litters or 7 years of age? So 7 litters, it's OK to bleed a poor dog dry for commercial purposes :D Wow, just ... wow
  22. Black Dog rep left me a few looooong rawhide chews the other week. I know their stuff is australian, may pay to look into their rawhide chews I refuse to buy any treats from Asia
  23. Breed clubs are the ones who will chuck you for being involved in Schutzhund. Not the ANKC, considering all German imports that conform to SV requirements will have a schutzhund title. Mon the question is where to live ... Hmmm I still have some rellies in Srbia ... that darn polish language is too hard for me
  24. Having raised a Dogue on Eagle Pack I can't say anything less then good things about the giant breed formula. He came with flat feet, collapsed wrists, acne and infected skin. Within a few weeks he was looking fabulous. Yes chicken necks, frames, lamb flaps etc are great BUT you should be sticking to a good dry food for main meals in a giant breed. Unless you want to spend time fiddling with raw foods and potentially getting it wrong, honestly it's easier and you know your dog is getting exactly what it needs. Plus in the hot weather you wont have to be fiddling with raw meats. from one Dogue owner to another
