  1. by the way they are not 'attack' dogs. They are either sportdog, protection, security etc depending on the canines application. Attack dog is usually reserved for ill trained dogs that have little or no control over their behaviors.
  2. from DOL. It is a popular purebreed website. Do you actually know there are members here interested in working line dogs and use them? Why not advertise on here too? This isnt just a show dog community, there are people on here with interests in protection, military, police, security etc. Again whats your point. Integraguard are not the only GSD breeders who offer that calibre of working dog. Go check the listings. One even writes they are a preferred provider to NSW corrective services. DO we have a crack at them too? Working dogs are part of the pedigree world, I dont see why we should segregate them because they're not PC enough for you.
  3. its not the overall breed its some lines. Difference. They have a real world application and need in society. If the breeders are not selling them to Jo Bloggs then whats the issue with it? The public appreciate dogs doing jobs but they understand they are 'different' to pet ones. I still dont see how this is a confusing issue for so many people.
  4. I think Jeffs point was that the video supplied about working dogs was just as rediculous and biased as the one he put up ... anyone heard of sarcasm? Shortstep offers they know nothing about it yet provide a video supposedly with educational value.
  5. how about a nice bone like a lamb shank? decrease his morning meal to compensate
  6. witholding veterinary care is an offence
  7. yup I agree. If you want swap the evening meal for meat on the bone so the pup keeps itself occupied and tires itself out chewing
  8. you think they would miss the fact 'working' was put in there a few times? The website also explains this explicity. The GSD is a working dog and in this respect is being utilised for one of the reasons it was originally bred for. I still dont see why there are so many panties in a twist.

    Rex

oh Mon I am so sorry. I dont pop in here often and just noticed it love and hugs for you dear
  10. your point was misconstrued and I apologise. I answered your randomness Q at the bottom though. remember not all working dogs are simply protection. Some are tracking, S&R, bomb/narc detection etc and dont necessarily need the level of fight that others do hence not ultimately requiring dogs from the same sources.
  11. they're not a military only breeder so they advertise to get their kennel name noticed. Why should they not advertise on a pedigree website? If I had the space I would be very interested in one of their dogs. wheres the page on the breeders site where you pop in a credit card number and wait for shipment of your pup. Hmm they put all prospective owners through the rigours of scrutiny to see if the homes are worthy of the dogs they breed. I find it dissapointing that people insinuate that working breeders must have lower ethics or something. They spend a lot of money to import, train, and raise their pups too you know. The RAAF takes working lines not show lines. VicPol will take show lines if their breeders cannot keep up with demand they prefer Sch titled dogs, have their own kennel as well). They still have to pass a test in order to become a working dog. until we turn all working breed dogs into glorified stuffed toys, then sit back and reminisc about days gone by. THere;s a lot more dangerous dogs which are stereotypically known as family breeds then working shepherds from registered ethical breeders.
  12. consdering the advertisement level of DOL, and the fact so many people know each other in the dog world I would say yes, some people would come onto DOL to see upcoming pedigree litters for sale especially as it googles well. The idea here is pedigree dogs, not just show dogs. I added hard to the protection term. These are dogs used for manwork where you need a dog willing to fight, not just bark to make someone go away.
  13. I think a few people need to go read up on working dogs and desired traits, as well as the meaning of the terms, before casting opinions. We're not going to water down the whole world for the uneducated. Theyre advertised as not for pet, military and hard protection only. If you cant understand that then leave well alone.
  14. cocking of the leg is not directly tied to the dogs neutered status. they can cock their leg irrespective of the age they were desexed
  15. they specifically state their dogs are not for sport or pet homes.

    Eating Stones

is he getting 6 cups of food a day O_o wowee thats more then my 60kg dogue de bordeaux! find yourself a new vet ASAP. How ignorant. Your dog needs protein from natural sources, he's 9 months old and only needs 2 meals a day at most. I would make the last meal simply some carcasses or lamb flaps. He's eating waaaay too much
  17. rehoming, see if he wants it as a working dog
  18. I wouldnt be bagging out Integraguard here where it can be publically accessed. And yes I will mention the kennel name its only fair since they're being made to look irresponsible which they are NOT. They breed serious dogs for serious situations. Not every german shepherd is bred to sit on the couch for its whole life. Aggression has different meaning when we talk about working dogs - its fight not simply unpredictability. I dont see why Troy should get involved, are we now going to sanitise DOL of anything except pure showlines? I bet they pay quite nicely to place an advertisement on here as well. Personally, I would buy a dog from them. I also personally know the stud of the upcoming Malinois litter and he's fantastic, solid nerve, good nature and great drives. The owner would not be letting his dog be advertised on a website made by irresponsible people trust me.
  19. you can also try steve austin
  20. under victorian law that dog would have to be declared dangerous as its training fits into the parameters of bitework "biting anything attached to a human" gotta love vic law
  21. for the heeling did you notice how the dog wanted to put itself between he handler and the decoy? I think a protective element of someone so young came into play in that clip.
  22. I dont understand why you are 1) grilling her about this and 2) find it your job to be the police about it. Report their activities to the RSPCA and greyhound council, if you can take photos or get a stat dec fine. now you make assumptions? You dont know everything about them. Christ you take nosy neighbour to an obsessive level
  23. yup stable nerve at least should be a considering factor. Shepherds here in Australia seem to be known for their whining and carrying on especially if mummy leaves snookums for 2 minutes. I can tell you that piercing shepherd screaming whine is not something I enjoy and frankly wish that trait would disappear.
  24. most registered breeders SHOULD find themselves a mentor or ask their dogs breeder for advice. That is how knowledge is passed on and proper procedure is followed from conception to sale to ensure the health, wellbeing and ethics for the dogs involved. Trust me you can tell unregistered breeders a mile away. Dont know the colour is a BIG hint.
  25. most people ask for help before they do the deed, not after. People who enquire about the process are met with open arms. People who apparently know better and have already done it then get defensive... whats the point.
