Hrm....yes bumping up the ISO is one way Ruthy, do you have a 50mm lens? They are great for low light. Depending on how steady you are, you will have to have a steady hand, lower the shutter speed right down, Appeture etc. Depending on the quality of your camera, you photos may be lower quality when you blow them up on a high ISO. Whats the highest setting? You could also buy a flash, they take a bit of practice too.

wow look at all the BC's They are good, obviously you are getting the hang of your camera. -
Hadnt tried the auto focus lock thing on my camera, thought i'd give it a shot. Works ok, if you know how to use it that is. I think this one was a fluke....hehe... I dont even know if I did it right, or if the lock thing was on....

DAwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Glad you are having fun with the new camera, Luke. I can recommend a litle HP Laptop, they are brilliant. You can keep windows too. This one is so adorable, its a 14 inch screen and lightweight. Its from the HP Pavilion Entertainment series. yes fly feels left out too

OH MY GOD I UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING YOU SAID Thanksyou for your explanations! Yes its an excellent camera, I really love it. I took another shot, more of a front on shot of Ruggies face, and same type of thing as you said, I have his eyes in focus, and his nose is slightly blurry If I can find it i'll post it.

Cool, thanks for your replies. I understand how F Stop affects DOF, but never really got to focal length. Im ok with it all using good lighting, but want to be really good in low light. Your reply's make sense, thankyou..

Ok, lets see if this comes out right. I took this in Lowish light inside, using 2,500 ISO with a 50mm lens. I was focusing on nothing particular, but on Fly's head on the nose bridge I think. How do I achieve a better DOF without loosing any quality/sharpness? Is it to do with the lens, ie if I moved further away and used a longer lens? or entirely to do with F stop? This is using 2,500 ISO but focus doesnt go much beyond her head, even rugies nose is blurred slightly..

Hi Luke. I have a Nikon D3, a range of lenseseses, The one I use the most is the 80-400 AF-VR NiKKOR. I love it. um...most of the stuff I do is at a distance, hopefully but when Im playing with it, Use it on the dogs in the field or at shows. I have been mucking around with a little 50mm 1:14 D but the other one I like is simply anothe zoomy 35-135mm 1:3.5-4.5 Its an older lens, but you can get a lot out of it.

What light metering is the camera on?

I agree about the not being able to decide from seeing photos from different cameras. I have the best Nikon has to offer and my picturs are nothing compared to some of the guys here

Thankyou Sumosmum. Mum is going to take the little tacker to the vet this week. They said blood tests wont show up any kind of cancer, I expect they will have to do x rays too.

Yep the still eating well and appetite is a worry. Not over drinking or peeing either I might pay for it for them, as i recal, blood tests are expensive.
