I will have a number of people that know my command - my mother, who I live with, my best friend (and her fiance) who look after her if I go away, my dad, stepmum, 2 x brothers, sister, a couple of other friends who come over. If something happened to me, either my mother or my best friend would look after Minnie for me. If, god forbid, I died, my mother would retain ownership of any dogs I have at the time.

I'm going to be doing this with my next puppy. Minnie will currently eat anything - anything given to her by anyone and anything thrown over the fence, anything we find on a walk etc. It scares the life out of me. Next puppy will only eat when I tell it to - so thanks for posting this I like Jade as a word. Nice and easy.

Attention All People In Rescue
tramissa replied to shmoo's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Definitely pinning material - well written Shmoo. -
Oh god she's cute, and I love the way you told about her life - she sounds like she was one great dog. I'm so sorry for you loss. RIP Pippy

I don't find Nature's Gift smells bad BC - certainly not like your Pal/Mydog that makes me almost throw up NG - I always have a can or two in the cupboard for emergencies. Haven't had to use them in a long time so I pass them onto a mate when they're close to use by dates and she feeds them to her kids. um, fur kids, not kids kids.... I don't feed cans, even NG, unless I absolutely have to.

I haven't yet read through all the replies or the other thread, but I wanted to say thank you for trying to help her and offer my condolences that she couldn't be helped. She would have known you were trying but sometimes there is just nothing you can do. Ignore what the few others say and take some measure of peace from the fact that you tried, and that when it was her time, she was with people that cared about her, instead of cold and lonely.

Yes, they have a bone in their penis that can be broken. Being desexed only stops sperm - not the urges  Particularly if humping was already a habit before being desexed. The smell of urine in the crate, if it's not being cleaned properly, will only encourage the dog to go more in the crate - if it smells like a toilet, and it's been used as a toilet, it must be a toilet. She needs to go back to the basics of toilet training - out 1/2 hour after meals, immediately upon waking, every 2 - 3 hours during the night. She will need to set her alarm and suck it up for a few weeks until he's got it. Crate MUST be cleaned - if it remotely smells like urine to the dog (even if we can't smell it), it's going to be much harder.

My Dog Refuse To Eat. Recommend Diet Please?
tramissa replied to asianpeach's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Please do a google search on BARF - biologically appropriate raw food (or bones and raw food) diet. Pork is not good for them - too much salt and fat. The chicken carcasses are good. Leave the cans - it's like feeding your dog mcdonalds every meal. Buy a good quality dry food (as good as you can afford - you feed less of the really good quality so it usually works out cheaper - look at Nutro, Royal Canin or EaglePack etc). Use the feeding guide on the packet. Give 1 or 2 chicken frames per day, but cut down the amount of dry you're giving him. This will be a good diet to start with until you can get your head around BARF if that is the way you want to go. Remember that you should be able to feel the last 3 ribs easily on your dog and there should be no 'rolls' - you should also see his tummy tucking up after the rib cage - if you can't, he's too fat and he needs to eat less and exercise more (but if he's really big, take the exercise easy as it will be hard on his joints). -
Hi and welcome  12 weeks should be fine. Should never be before 8 weeks and if flying them, preferably 12 weeks (in my opinion anyway). The breeder should be socialising them while they are there and they will learn manners from the adult dogs at the breeders so you should actually get a more settled pup at 12 weeks, than you would at 8 weeks.

Thanks Harminee Cloning the fur on his feet to cover the grass was a pain. Not the best job, but I'm getting there
-
something I quickly did to try out some of the new plugins I've got. The rose is a photo I took, then photoshopped and added Harry to it. Didn't end up using any of my lovely new frames as this called for something really simple (I used the colour of the tiny wing on the outfit for the matt).

Thanks Harminee I have the same program just not the plugins Now to find some good tutorials.

Harminee, I know you've said it heaps of times, but what program do you use?

I would be speaking to the instructor and asking how they will help you overcome Bloss' fears now that they have allowed this to happen. Also what action they will be taking to ensure it does not happen again in future. With Bloss, I would maybe go back to the very basics again to rebuild her confidence. Go back to everything you did when you first got her - hopefully it will only be a short period until she's back to where she was. I would not be attempting the test this time around. Edited because I forgot to say the main part!! Poor Bloss and poor you for the heart attack that would have given you! Moo is twice Bloss' size, but I know how I would feel if a bigger dog was jumping all over her, even in play!
-
Just a quick one and I'm not 100% happy with the 'lawn' background but here ya go. Harminee - how do you get your frames to look 'flat' without them being flat?
-
Wow, looks great Vickie. Don't know what you mean about the sand - looks good to me.
-
I'm having probs with the angles too. I just can't get them!! Doesn't help that I have no sense of depth perception. Should put my glasses on and see if that helps

Hehe, it's all cool ;) was just trying to draw some attention My first time using actual photoshop to do it. Much easier than what I was using before. Any suggestions on improvement would be welcomed though Got a few more I'm going to play with today.

I guess mine was no good I'll go back in my hole then.

This is one I just did for LMWS.

I am so sorry Dru. I loved seeing photos and hearing stories about her. RIP Victoria.

No worries ;) Our health food store doesn't have it, so I just get the best quality I can from the supermarket.

ACV internally - 1 - 2 tsp mixed in with her raw meat/sardines/tuna etc. It's cleared up her yeast infection in her ears and is (slowly) clearing up her tearstaining. Started it for the tearstaining but the ears were an unexpected benefit She was previously on eardrops 1 - 2 times per week and once a month she'd still have an infection. Had yeast infections for years before I got her (vet assumed due to the state of her ears at her first check up after I had her) and had it recurring for almost 2 years since I've had her. Been on ACV for about 2 months now and no infection at all since I started it. Now all I do is pluck her ears nightly while I'm grooming her.
