Oh come on. Any creature, including humans, woken out of a sound sleep by a sudden action that can be seen as a threat, such as in this case, usually responds on the defensive. It's not aggressive, it's defensive, and in a circumstance where normal barriers are not in place - big difference.

Have you heard the saying 'let sleeping dogs lie'?? Your son woke the pup from a sleep. I wouldn't class this as aggression. I would be instigating NILIF and other things you have said as a matter of course, but to me (and I am nowhere near qualified), it doesn't sound like an aggression problem. I would reinforce not going near a sleeping dog to your son though. I'd suggest having a read of this thread, starting from this post - http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?s=&a...t&p=2632240

If you do a search, you'll find many threads about this About to hop off the puter otherwise I'd post a few links for you - but the basic search should bring them all up. Same vaccines - just proven now that they have a longer protection period than first thought, and that by doing them every year, you are actually lowering the immunity of the dog.

They may be sensitive because there's debri in there, or she could be bunging it on  One of my dogs will sit quietly and let me pluck for ages. The other carries on until he realises I mean business, and then settle down and move a muscle. I use both fingers (for outside hair) and tweezer like things (can't remember the name - hair plucker tweezers for dogs). Works great Give it another go and even start out slowly - pluck, treat, pluck treat, 2 plucks, treat, 3 plucks, treat etc. I've heard (but haven't tried) that talc powder makes gripping the hair easier - anyone know if this is true?

Does anyone know of a groomer, preferably mobile, who works in the Carina area of Brisbane for a maltese? He is in pet clip, so no long hair A friend of mine has just moved.

AND he has the best customer service. I had an issue with a brand new pair of clippers, and he very patiently, over email, talked me through a number of solutions until we had them working again - and no, I didn't buy the clippers through him. I will next time though! Any clipper/blade/sharpening I have will always go through him from now on

I am so sorry Bluepoppy My heart is breaking for you. Keisha knows you did everything you could for her. She joins all the other angels that are sleeping peacefully.

At 7 weeks old, she is not fully vaccinated and is definitely not safe to be taking around. She could pick up anything. There is apparently a fair bit of parvo going around Vic atm, so I would be very wary of where you take her. At 7 weeks also, you would have only had her for a few days? That's not long enough for a baby to settle in. Most pups don't leave mum and siblings until at least 8 weeks. Partly for socialisation/learning and partly due to vaccination schedules (although still not fully covered until the 10 - 12 week booster, depending on which schedule you use). She is probably pining for her mum. Pups that age also need at least 4 meals per day, spaced throughout the day. Is there any chance you can come home at lunch time to break up her day and give her a feed? This may help. I don't think you have true separation anxiety in a 7 week old pup. Now, where's photos???

Hi all, Hoping you can help. A good friend is moving to Carina on Tuesday and will need to find a vet, groomer (preferably mobile for wash/clips with a timid dog), pet supplies place etc. If anyone has had good experiences, or knows of someone in that area, can you please let me know so I can pass it on? Thanks!!

Too Much Heartworm Treatment?
tramissa replied to DeltaCharlie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I wouldn't be giving him any more heartworm stuff until June. Too much is not good for them, and he still has 6 months worth left in his system. -
Interceptor Spectrum And Drontal?
tramissa replied to jaegertheweim's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Drontal does a couple of worms that interceptor doesn't. My vet wants me to do interceptor + drontal (3 monthly though) + advantix fortnightly.
