It's a pretty normal request. If you're not happy about it maybe keep looking?

Exercising Reactive Dogs Thread
Jemmy replied to megan_'s topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Finally went for a walk at a normal hour to test our progress. No barking at dogs on the other side of the road - both walking and those barking from their yards. There was one bark back at a dog who was barking and running it's fenceline, but we were on the same side of the road as it. That's definite progress for us, she used to bark back at every dog that barked at us, proximity be damned. And she didn't even tense up when dogs were walking towards us on the opposite side of the road. Very proud dog mama today :) -
I thought this was a good piece, and I loved the photos :) http://www.news.com.au/national/the-raafs-fearsome-weapon/story-fncynjr2-1227279547979

Great pics denali! Indi was beautiful, I'm sorry she left you so soon. I've got such a soft spot for GSD's because of my own loon :) I put some pics up in the other thread because I didn't see this one!

Exercising Reactive Dogs Thread

How is everyone doing? My big goofball has been coming along in leaps and bounds. We haven't had any reactions at class for a long time, and we've had polite calm greetings with 2 different dogs there :) Her barking at home has also improved heaps...in the next week or so I will take her for a walk at a busier time of day (have been doing 5am) and see how we go. Obviously I won't be trying for a greeting, I just want to be able to see another dog on our walk and not have a reaction. -
Oooo I like the look (and price!) of the frogg toggs pants. Luna loves doing anything in the rain, so I figured she was probably fine, but I'm tired of having wet legs/ankles
-
Bumping this old thread, because I'm wondering what everyone wears when they walk in the rain? Do you have a raincoat and a hat or hood, or an umbrella? I find my legs get saturated and it's hard to keep the hood of my raincoat up. Does your dog wear a raincoat?

Sorry to hear your girl has left you tesslc My MIL has a SBT girl (desexed) and she is one of the most stable dogs I've ever met. I'd encourage what others have suggested and ensure you choose a breeder with dogs who have a history of good temperaments.
-
I hope it's not stalking, as I do the same! I also have my breeder as a friend on Facebook, so they can see pictures through there. I figure if they don't want to know, they don't have to pay attention to our updates. At least our updates are there it they want them ????
-
It's hard, because I know I sent a couple of emails like that when I started looking. I was startled with a response from a breeder that had a brand new litter on the ground and they said there was only one pup left and we'd need to call, arrange a deposit and that's it. I had to concede maybe we weren't really ready, as I was not prepared to commit to a puppy that I hadn't met the parent/s of, and hadnt even met the breeder. I ended up going through the breed club and had contact with my breeder before my girl was born, so it all worked out. I remember before I sent the email I had typed an essay about us, why we wanted a dog and what we could offer, but then thought it sounded too sales-y so just went with something more simple.

I like Lilydale, Karoola, Pipers River, Perth, Longford, Carrick. They are all probably 15 to 20 minutes from the CBD depending on who is driving! I'll send you a PM tonight about suburbs in Launceston ????
-
There's heaps of areas that are semi rural and still nicely accessible to Launceston - house prices down here are great too! Good luck with the search :)

@Stressmagnet - I always tell Luna this is why we can't have nice things. We learned quickly what we couldn't trust her with. Chewed the bottom out of one of the back cushions to the couch. I'd never sewn a zip before, I learned quickly on the repair job. Chewed through the speaker cable. Aaaand a pin cushion. I still don't know how she got it, but she had a grand old time with it, there was sawdust EVERYWHERE.

That would be a red flag for me...

Spaghetti Eating Contest - Golden Retriever Vs German Shepherd
Jemmy replied to HollyMilo's topic in General Dog Discussion
That was amazing! I love how the German Shepherd got a heap on the floor, mine does that with her food as well -
My Luna was also a big fan of bully sticks (still is) and carrot and celery :)
-
Yes! For every decent photo there's normally at least 2 outtakes. I normally go through and delete them, but these 2 haven't hit the kill floor yet...
-
Clover that's fantastic! What great shots!

Oh my god. I was so tempted to wake Luna up, put my glasses on her and sit her at the desk so she could look like a shrink.
-
Now I'm giggling. Somehow, it's a GSD behind the shrink desk, and a Bassett in the chair. He's got two, along with a farting chicken and a trio of oinking pigs. He loves them, but only because the first high pitched squealing toy he got, lasted 20 minutes of non stop squeaking before I pitched off the deck and into the pool. He's prone to sitting mournfully gazing at it through the bars while I hope it decomposes. Oh my god you two. I just lost it. I don't think squeakers are that important. Luna has a Cuz ball, I bought the biggest one she can pick up in her mouth, and it means she doesn't get enough purchase to squeak it incessantly. It does give a satisfying little squeak when it bounces and she can get a sneak or two when she grabs it. We both win!
-
Thank you Grumpette. I must say your pictures always make me think of getting a Rotti to be her best friend!

We love the JW Megalast ball here at our house. And the Chuck It Kick Fetch ball. I must get another megalast, this one is finally starting to show some wear, and the colour can be hard to spot in grass :)
