We used to have baby gates up to certain areas. I will admit to having a glass of wine while sitting on my kitchen floor, crying. Because it was puppy witching hour and I couldn't cope. It will all be ok, but remember to take into account your puppy is baby, and babies have different needs. Also, I will reiterate no one is trying to be mean or cruel. But we have all been there at one point or another and so the advice is coming from experience.

I persisted against all advice and didnt crate Luna in our bedroom, and it was horrible. I had such terrible sleep because I was trying to listen for her, so never fully settled myself. Then I swung too far to the other end and she sleeps on my bed  to be fair though, our situation is a bit different as I always planned for Luna to be able to be inside with us if she wanted to. She let's me know if she wants to go sunbathe or watch the birds on her own :)

Non-Showing Dog Allowed To Come To Shows?
Jemmy replied to Willowlane's topic in General Dog Discussion
Do you know anyone exhibiting? I'd check with them, but I would think it would be fine. I've taken my non showing dog to a show to meet up with her family before :) -
New Puppy - Stressed Owner - Crate Training/yelping
Jemmy replied to Blackdog10's topic in Puppy Chat
Where is his crate set up? If it's in your room I would put him in there and close the door if he's sleeping. If he had just woken up from a nap I would be playing with him for a bit before expecting him to go back to sleep. He'll be a bundle of energy and then just crash on you, puppies are sleepy but crazy little things  Also when you get a chance we'd love pictures! Congratulations on your new addition :) -
Dog Behaviour Survey For A Masters In Dog Behaviour

Done :) -
If the image is facing left, it's dumb. It's in the key towards the top right of the 'map'

We'll be going. I'm happy to be educated if anyone disagrees, but I've been hearing good things about our local branch in the last few years

Also with spin, we taught it as clockwise, and "other way" is counter clockwise. 2 tricks in one!

Exercising Reactive Dogs Thread
Jemmy replied to megan_'s topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Sounds like everyone is coming along well! Snook, do you still read this thread? I've been wondering after you and Justice :) We're at the stage that I've registered us for the million paws walk this year. We've arranged to walk with some known doggy friends, I'm really looking forward to it. -
I wanted the training skirt but have settled for a Nike bum bag for now it was available locally and not too expensive at $20

I bought the RRR ebook and started training tonight. Our new word is 'hustle'

She is definitely striking a pose in that one next to Daisy, love it
-
That would be pretty much perfect, thank you so much for suggesting it!

Ooo, those look great Jules - I've sent them an email just to check that my stupidly large phone will fit.

I've searched and searched but cannot find any reference to how big the pockets are? I normally carry a shoulder bag with my things in it, but I'm moving to running a bit more and the bag bouncing against me throws me off. I also have an overly large mobile phone that I need to fit in - there's no point in me buying the walkie belt if my phone won't fit. For reference my phone is about 16 x 8cm TIA!

I've been playing around on the long line this last week, Luna seems to have a distance of about 10m and then she'll stop and wait, or run to catch up with me. I've been rewarding for her choosing to return to me, this coming week I'll add in the at home training Mrs RB just mentioned - sounds like a great building block :)

My exact thoughts

That looks like a great idea, thanks for sharing!

I've been buying those vacuum sealed miracle Mac marinated chicken breasts and dicing them, but this is giving me some great ideas. Also cheese sticks that you can pull into strings, they break off into nice chunks
-
I'm glad you made this post Stressy, I've been concerned about Luna's recall as well. Now that it's getting colder I'm going to start going back to the dog park nice and early so we can walk the trails on the long line and put some of this into practice. (I haven't been going there over summer because there was a snake sighting and I'm a massive chicken)

I made my OH do it  We didn't take her a lot of places pre vaccination though, just did lots of training in the yard. Practiced driving just around the block in her crate in the backseat.

Hahaha, this is true for us as well!

I don't see anyone supporting BYB. The point is registered breeders advertise on Gumtree as well... A blanket ban on pet advertisements would not only penalise the breeders we support, but in some cases make it harder for a first time puppy buyer to find them.
-
I'd love a link in every pet ad to a guide on how to choose an ethical and responsible breeder. Slightly off topic but that's my 2c

Well put SG. Kirty - if I was your friend, doing it over a bottle of wine a day or 2 after I got home would work a treat. Give her at least the first night to love being back home with her dog, without any stress. And if it were me, complimenting other aspects of the dog before or with the information would work best... Example below :) I loved having *dog* around, she's such a (funny/special/sweet/smoochy) girl isn't she... Before you go on your next trip I think it would be worthwhile to do x training with her, she's so clever but she did show some anxiety without you...
