I could easily spend $39 a month on my dog, but I'd prefer to spend it on things I know she'll enjoy... I know from experience that mystery boxes can be hit and miss :)

I've heard the Kyjen range is great. I have their bottle buddy for my German Shepherd, but I haven't tried their plush toys yet. I think their 'invincibles' range has been mentioned on here before... I plan on getting one of those to try soon! As for online stores... I really like pets1.com.au and k9pro.com.au

I'm another one who forgot that puppies can be hard work - plus the stress of trying to raise them 'right'! I've definitely had a cry over my girl, more than once! Good luck with him, it sounds like you've got the makings of an amazing bond :D

Exercising Reactive Dogs Thread
Jemmy replied to megan_'s topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I thought we had been making great progress as she hadn't been barking back at dogs that were in their yards, but the nice weather has increased the amount of people out walking their dogs, and if we don't do our emergency u-turn in time, she still goes over threshold and lunges and barks at them It's just so darn confusing for me, because we went to an all breeds dog show (just as a spectator) and she was confident and not reactive at all. Out on walks though, different dog! We've booked into a class specifically for reactive dogs, so I'm hopeful that will give us some help and direction...she's fine at obedience class though, so I'm not sure how it will go. If she's as calm and confident at reactive dog class as she is at obedience classes and shows, we might have to book in for some one on one training time. On a happier note, we did an emergency u-turn during the week and I popped her in her crate in the car as we got to it before a side street, and when the gentleman walking his greyhounds drew level with me he let me know his dogs wouldn't have hassled her. I think he thought I was worried about his 2 beauties because they were muzzled. I was quick to explain it's not his 2 I was worried about, I just wanted to get through a walk without my girl barking at anyone  How has everyone else been this week? -
The smell from that poo machine was so bad. I felt like I could smell it for half an hour after leaving.

I might be in love with Orange... -
I have a cat like this :p Good luck miss2, don't let yourself get down! I had a few sad days when I felt like my pup was only naughty when she was alone with me, when OH was around she wasn't naughty. I got so anxious about it that it was making her act up more. We got out of that cycle, but I feel for you and hope it improves soon!

So cute, and what good sports!

Oh I'm going to try that! I would think because the minerals leech out, the more surface area you expose to water, the more leeching. So you start off with a couple of big ones, let them work like that, then smash them to expose extra rock surface area. We recently started using them, I haven't noticed any more brown spots in the lawn, but still waiting for some old ones to come good.

@Little Gifts - thank you, I'll have to make a trip there and have a browse! Dangerous as I always find so many other things I 'have' to buy :)

Thank you!

Just wondering if anyone has any recommended websites or sources for dog themed fabric? I'm just looking for a standard cotton type fabric in a cute print like paw prints, bones, the word woof or something like that. I made a crate cover out of a flat sheet, but it doesn't quite hit the ground on the sides... Thought something doggy themed would look cute as the trim :)

I've just started this with my 8 month old pup, she is already clicker trained so have been working on it with the aid of the clicker. The method I am following said to put your hand palm first right in front of their nose, and then when/if she touches my hand, to click and treat. Then move on to slightly to the side, further away, and then add the verbal command. My query is: sometimes instead of touching my hand with her nose, she gives my palm a lick instead! Should I be clicking and treating this as it's still contact, or should I ignore it until she bumps with her nose? Edited for typo

Ohhhhh so cute! I would love a Rotti, I see one "in the wild" walking with his owner regularly on my way home from work. Saw another one when I went to a dog show last weekend, I just wanted to be that strange person asking to cuddle other people's dogs. I restrained myself though! -
It's disappointing everyone else's premiums have had to suffer for it though. I wonder how much of their customer base is made up from those types of mixes? They may not have been able to just increase the premiums on 'designer' breeds as it may have alienated too large a portion of their customer base. Just a theory on why they've spread it across everyone else's premiums...

A lot of people I know would define my dog as spoilt. She doesn't get away with anything and has her boundaries, so not in that definition. But I do spend more time making her breakfast than I do my own, assembling various bits of her food in different treat devices for when I go to work. I made her beds myself, and probably buy her far too many toys. But I love her, and she loves me, and she deserves to be well cared for. She would be perfectly happy with less, but I can give her more, so I do.

I'm another one who thinks a Cocker would potentially suit. I had one when I was 14 and my sibling was 4,she left us last year at 12 years of age. Very loyal and robust, happy to have a romp but also happy to smooch on the couch. -

I second this query, hahaha -
Bottle buddy arrived today! It's a hit so far... I like that once the bottle is destroyed I can just put a new one in, and the velcro is pretty heavy duty so I am doubtful she could open it herself.

Oh my goodness! Hugs to you, what a stressful day,

Both toys are a hit!

My chuck it kick fetch ball kind of arrived today... They didn't leave it though, just a card and I have to collect it from the post office in the morning. Also have a Crackle head ball in the package... I can't wait!

I often wonder if body language plays a part. My girl gets a whole body waggle going when she picks someone that she'd like to have a pat from, and it seems to be the more relaxed people, who will smile as they approach, rather than people who seem busy or like they don't want to be bothered
