This analogy was great! People just don't think -

All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth
Jemmy replied to suziwong66's topic in General Dog Discussion
I never found any baby teeth... Not sure what she did with them (ate them?) -
Oh Alice is gorgeous! I have a soft spot for black Cocker Spaniels, but have never met a working one. Edit: I hit submit too early! Fargo looks gorgeous too, such expressive eyes

Thanks for the replies and ideas everyone, all noted! I'm hoping it was a once off, but am on the lookout now. Unfortunately it's a corner block, so one side of the back yard shares a fenceline with the footpath.

If you caught/discovered children barking at your dog (while it's in its own yard) to try and stir it up, what would you do? Would you try and track down their parents, or hope that the fright of getting caught will deter them in the future?

I agree with adding in some more mental training. I do a walk of a morning with my 10mth old GSD and then of an evening we do trick training. She gets a lot of play time in with her dad in the afternoon as well, but I find the mental games really help to calm her down for a nice evening.

Exercising Reactive Dogs Thread
Jemmy replied to megan_'s topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
@Hankdog - that would have been so scary! I'm using a Ruffwear Front Range Harness, I like that the neck area sits a bit higher so it would be super hard to get a leg through. I've posted this pic in other threads but it shows how the front is, I like it. @BC Crazy - Luna lunged this week and I fell straight over her. I didn't get as badly hurt as you, but it sure did dent my pride. We've been enjoying our reactive dogs class, it's been giving me a lot more confidence. -
Oh Stan! I love hearing of his antics :)

The pink looks lovely! I'm super happy with mine, I've been using it all week :)

Important Request For Allerzoit And Grumpette
Jemmy replied to Brandiandwe's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hahaha my girl is also known as Luna-tic, Loon, or Loony. How's she going? Are you coping OK with all the puppies departing? -
I don't, Luna is outside during the day and there's shade and some lovely cool breezy spots. I'm in Tassie though... Haha. We have reverse cycle aircon, and that's on pretty much 24/7 in winter as its less energy to maintain the temp than to bring it up from freezing. Also don't notice too much of a difference with the bill, but our aircon is on the same tariff as the hot water :)

Sometimes I just walk in the rain. Other times we do more fun clicker training. Learning the names of different toys, hiding the toys for her to find. You could also teach or reinforce lying quietly in his spot.

Classic 'dogs Locked In Cars' Comment Today
Jemmy replied to pepe001's topic in General Dog Discussion
Some people just don't think. I had just decided the last week or so it's getting too hot here in Tassie for my girl to come to the shop with me. I've always parked fully in the shade and set a 5 minute timer for myself, but it's just getting too warm. She loves her car rides too, so I've just been putting the air conditioning on and taking her around the block, haha -
What a heart warming story :)

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!
Jemmy replied to RiverStar-Aura's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh that's adorable! -
This sucks, but like others have said, dodged a bullet. I missed out on pups from 2 different litters from the same breeder, but the girl I got in the end is perfect, and her breeders are fantastic. For us it was all meant to work out like that, and I'm sure your eventual puppy will be worth it too :)
-
When we were looking for a puppy I had a definite bias towards a girl - I've always had a better relationship with female dogs as opposed to male. When it comes time for a second dog I think I'll definitely lean towards boy - harmonious household and I keep reading that they're smoochers ;)

I agree with Stressmagnet. That person was rude and a bully, and so was the person from the store!
-
Is it possible he's trying to lure you out to play? My girl will sometimes refuse to come back inside, and gets her point across by going and getting her ball and dropping it against the door.

Oh thank you :) Sheena I hope you like it! That pink is such a nice shade
