  1. What a sad outcome for you and the dog Laurensingh I hope you can find some resolution. Agree with persephone - at least the dog is with a responsible person.
  2. Actually, looking at the photos, it looks as though the wood is rotten anyway. Maybe that's why she's attracted to it? Could you approach the landlord about getting it fixed without mentioning the dog?
  3. I wouldn't use plastic mesh, she'd just chew that too :) We had a labrador who tried to eat our house too. She even chewed through the wiring under the house
  4. Your dog eats other dogs !! lol it's ok I know what you mean! I have heard there are a couple of other novel noms coming in store soon too! Mmmm ... Guess I should have read that before posting eh?
  5. Gosh, I have trouble just getting dog bones where I live!
  6. Now you have got me Googling Simon's Cat youtubes again!!! Just love him................... Ditto!
  7. Yep. My Standard Schnauzer is 12 months and he squats :) I wash his paws every evening before he comes inside
  8. We have a heavy type of door which was already installed in our house when we bought it. Our original dog used it without incident, however, when we adopted another dog she caught her back on the heavy door once and now refuses to go through it. This is actually a good thing with this particular dog as otherwise we'd never know where she was
  9. How does this toy stand up to chewing?
  10. As per the title ... http://blog.theanimalrescuesite.com/bordercolliesneak/?utm_source=social&utm_medium=arsfan&utm_campaign=bordercolliesneak&utm_term=20140825#DzRqzume0LZA9TzL.01
  11. "Old" is always ten years older than you are at any given time!
  12. My husband would divorce me if I fed the dogs mussels They're one of HIS favourite treats!
  13. When my elderly mother in law had to go into care years ago, she had to give up her toy poodle. This dog had been with her for many years and was a devoted companion. She went downhill from the day she gave the dog up (luckily to a family member who had originally bred the dog) The poodle was also stressed, even though she was well looked after and knew the family ...
  14. I thought this through very recently, before I got my 'last' dog. I'm late fifties and figure that I'll be late sixties or early seventies when he's ready to go to the Big Kennel By then, as much as I love dogs and always had them in my life, I doubt I'll get another at that age. Same for my horse, she's probably the last one I'll ever own ...
  15. But puppies over 8 weeks of age. Okay. Still wish they didn't though
  16. They still sell puppies in pet shops in NSW ...
  17. What a stunning animal! Great story Boronia :)
  18. Just bumping this up. With the rain we're having now the ticks will be out with the sun Found this interesting site ... http://communityvet.net/2010/02/tick-prevention-options-costs-and-drawbacks/
  19. Wow! Sandra777 has covered it all, well done :) Welcome kohbi1, and yes photos essential
  20. I love labs too :) One of the best dogs I ever had was a beautiful female black lab. She ruled our whole household in her own way and was obedient and wonderful with my kids when they were growing up. A better watch dog than even my blueys!
  21. When I was looking for another dog the add said ... "Two year old desexed male Labrador. Fully trained and quiet. We are moving to a smaller place and cannot take our beloved dog with us." It was almost local and I spoke a couple of times on the phone to the owner. It all sounded fair enough and we arranged to meet so that I could 'trial' the dog at my place over a weekend while they went away. Met in a neutral place and I'm not kidding, the dog EXPLODED from their vehicle and nearly tore the owners arms out as it careered totally out of control with a maniacle expression on its face. It showed no sign of recognising any commands whatsoever ... We decided not to go ahead with the dog for our own sanity sake
  22. The hot wires certainly work :) We only have cattle fencing (barbed wire) around our place and when we got the schnauzer we ran two hot wires, one at his eye height and one lower. He's only touched it twice - the first time by accident, the second attempting to go through the fence ... Now, he doesn't go near it
