Can I Ask For Some Prayers For My Furbaby?
gillbear replied to esky's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sending you lots of love and good thoughts for Penny and your other babies, (I have been stuck at work all day with no phone or I would have called). XXX -
I remember a few years back when Cordelia was having a tough christmas Dolers sent her parcels with christmas decorations and her favourite lollies. She kept getting parcel after parcel coming from all over australia in the mail Maybe we could do something similar sent to a central address (due to privacy). It could be limited to envelope or small parcel size, big enough for cards, letters, vouchers, gift cards or just a little trinket etc.

Luxating Patella Issue (updated 7 Weeks Post Surgery)
gillbear replied to ness's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I am currently going through this journey with a foster chihuahua. Diagnosed with bilateral grade 3 patellas at 6 months then the owner was going to euthanase. After desexing and her first knee done on Thursday she is not a very happy chappy. Vet wouldnt do 2 together even though she is very small, after seeing her limited use of the leg in this early stage it was the right decision. Thankfully as a littley I have set up a large crate which also fits in a petloo, so toileting isnt a problem. -

Bond Could Ensure More Dogs Get To Live Another Day
gillbear replied to Panto's topic in In The News
There aren't heaps of properties anymore, hell, a lot of rentals don't even rent to people with kids. I had big problems finding rentals, even though I offered to pay a huge pet bond, I had to rent real dumps, which most people wouldn't want to live in, while paying top dollar for the rent. I must say that I was shocked last year at how hard it was to find a rental that would take pets. It was a horrible experience that took 4 months, even though I didnt care what the place was like as long as I could have my dogs. I dont know what I would have done if I had only a short period to move. It gave me a real wake-up call and I now have sympathy for the many genuine caring owners who are being forced to give up their animals. -

http://itunes.apple.com/app/petrescue/id504465150?mt=8 Strangely I just found this on the RSPCA facebook site with a sneaky link to their adoptapet.com.au Well done to the developers for creating this free of charge for Petrescue Hopefully they will make an android version. Here is a Sydney Morning Herald article on the App: http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/smartphone-apps/sydney-students-quest-to-save-stray-animals-from-death-bed-20120418-1x6dx.html

If you can get her to newcastle or central coast I can bring her the rest of the way. I would need to be able to pick her up before lunchtime though. -
Head Of The Piaa Caught In The Act.
gillbear replied to pandypam's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
My take on the photo is that it shows his pride in the skill of the dog and the program he has built, and quite rightly so. The only people who should be hanging their heads in shame are those contributing to the feral cat problem. -
depends what you are trying to bring up. Unless it is a solid then it is likely to be absorbed already. Call the vet.

Are Some Things Better Left To The Pros?
gillbear replied to a topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Well sadly the chickens are coming back to roost: THIS is why it is so important to temperament test THIS is why unknown dogs should not go to homes without a thorough assessment process. and it wont be the last if things dont change. eta.link removed.
