The ioniser I want doesn't use filters and is silent http://aggeggi.com/?action=view&id=818316 The air conditioning system (LG Art Cool) is silent and I think has no filters either I just dont know how effective it will be for a small-medium apartment with carpet and a small dog

Does anyone use an Ioniser or Air Purifier? I'm thinking of getting one - or picking an air conditioner (which we're getting anyway) with an air purifier built in. It only gets really smelly after 6 months or so after a big steam clean, but I'm just wondering how well they work

We use http://www.flexicose.com/flexicose-pets/index.html on our miniature poodle with HD. It's in liquid form - we just squirt a bit on her food each night. She's bouncing around like nothing's wrong!

Our miniature poodle was diagnosed at 6 months with HD and brain ataxia, which causes her to wobble all over the place sometimes. She's too small for surgery, so we're keeping an eye on her diet (to keep her lean and healthy) and she has liquid glucousamine (flexicose) every night with her dinner. She's happy and as jumpy as ever though still bunny hopping and kris-krossing around link We did see a few specialists for different opinions - at first we were told that she would need surgery, and then told she was too small for surgery, and also that glucosamine and diet would be OK for her. Anyway, there's so many people here with great advice, good luck to you xx

just thought i would add - my 1 year old mini poodle has wobbly backlegs due to her hip dysplasia and brain ataxia (though that's mostly her front end problems). (she's had both since birth, so she's wobbled all her life). most times she'll walk and run properly, but now and then she'll sway and criss-cross her back legs until she's got it figured out, when she gets up or is walking around if there seems to be any pain related to the hips, be sure to let your vet know next time

I hope you got a reasonable response Tracey. Yours is the first mini I've ever heard of with HD. Very sad for you and her. :rolleyes: thanks for the concern

My 7 month old Miniature Poodle has HD on both sides. She's about 4kgs now. We had X-rays done when she was desexed at 6 months which clearly displays the problem. She's on Flexicose (which is glucosamine) and we have noticed slight improvements - though she was never crying and sitting in pain before, she is again willing to jump up and down when she's excited :rolleyes: We have been told by the surgeons and specialists that she is too small for a hip replacements and because she seems 'ok' it most probably will be managable for a long time with exercise and care.

Just wanted to bump the thread up and say how useful (and comforting) everyone's stories have been Mischa has just been to the vet for desexing and has had some x-rays which show HD in both hips We still need to visit the specialist though, but I really want to be prepared with information and questions for when we go in (in the next week). She's just about 6 months now, and has the pony prance (cerebellar ataxia) aswell as the HD which makes her very wobbly at times. (eta: we were allowed to take her xrays with us for when we go into the specialist ) I've read everyone's comments on Triple pelvic osteotomy, and also the use of vitamin c and glucosamine -- i'm definately going to take everything into consideration. Has anyone undergone a triple pelvic osteotomy? My poor baby! I read this thread before we went into the vet's today thinking surgery wouldn't be a good thing, but after talking to him ... I don't know now!

My goodness, a DAY! I've still got the door wide open 'just in case'. We're trying to teach her to ring the bell to be let outside now ...

Woah! That's amazing! Mischa started to go outside on her own to pee & poop a few weeks ago, it took about 3-4 weeks to get to that stage. She's had accidents maybe once a week, once or twice, which is good in my book and was probably my own fault anyway Positive is always better I say. I'd rather make it a pleasant experience for all of us, rather than scare her into doing things.
