Ewww! Reminds me of a time when my ex had to pull a poop covered 'rope' of stuffed animal stuffing out of a very sheepish looking Labrador puppy who was dragging it around the backyard looking very ashamed.

He's gorgeous! Congrats on your new family member!

I'm going to the Chermside (Brisbane) one! :)
-
Around here (inner northern suburbs of Brisbane), there's the usual 'oodle "designer" dogs (and their owners who like to tell me about "hybrid vigour" while in reality they bought from a petshop supplied by puppy farmers ). That aside, there doesn't seem to be a particularly trendy breed at the moment at our dog park or in our suburb. Mostly medium to larger dogs - lots of Labradors, a few Golden Retrievers and Great Danes, some Jack Russells and lots of working dog breeds like Kelpies and Border Collies. For some reason, Italian Greyhounds seem to be really well known all of a sudden despite no one actually owning one around here. I constantly get asked if Astro (my now 11kg and still growing, rather lanky and entirely too large to be an IG, Whippet) is an Italian Greyhound.

I have never had this problem: good or bad, my dogs will sleep for as long as I do. I'm hoping sleeping in comes back once Astro is out of the zoomy puppy stage, but as it is currently, once the sun is up it's go-go-go time. Managed to get a picture of the personal space invaders. :D

These are such a laugh. Love em! Going to the bathroom alone and sleeping in are things of the past since having dogs in the house. :)

Being Asked For A Pet Related Donation
Sash replied to Chris the Rebel Wolf's topic in General Dog Discussion
I politely decline in almost all circumstances. I'd rather donate to charities through my employers workplace giving program (which dollar for dollar matches my donation and is done as salary sacrifice) or just volunteer my time to help the organisations I support. -
They're beautiful creatures! But I haven't laid eyes on a sighthound I didn't love yet. :)
-
Both my dogs like eye contact with members of the household but don't seem to do it much with anyone else. They're generally pretty disinterested in "non family" people anyway though.
-
It didn't seem to make any difference what breed I selected when doing it - I think the breed bit just adds the 'normal range' bit to the graph in the top section. I've been weighing my whippet weekly since 8 weeks until now at nearly 20 weeks (so 3.2kg to 9.8kg now) and the prediction has been between 13 and 14kgs which seems around about right but only time will tell!

A Follow On Thread For Those Who Now Have Their Puppy
Sash replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Puppy Chat
Aw, she's a beauty! -
My 5 month old whippet does the same thing, but only occasionally and he doesn't really seem to notice/be bothered by it all. Just back paws that would love to scratch behind his ear so much that they have a mind of their own apparently. I figured it must just be a reflex of sorts, like when you scratch a certain spot on a dog and it gets the back leg twitching.

Sad to hear this. Sending hugs and healing vibes to your lovely greyhounds. xo

Pretty much sums up my morning so far! :D

Gorgeous! There's something about how his front legs are that reminds me of the dance from Michael Jackson's Thriller video. haha :)
-
My roaching, rubber whippet. He loves sleeping with all four feet in the air and then has dreams about running so his feet are twitching away like crazy. Must get a video next time he does it!

He sounds wonderful to me! But I love velcro dogs.

Whippet puppy paws... :)

Amazing Photo Of Two Sheepdog Bitches Disagreeing !.
Sash replied to persephone's topic in General Dog Discussion
What a great picture! My boys often play in ways that look like proper fighting (and probably sound like it to the neighbours on the other side of the fence) but it's all fun and games for them and there's been no injuries ever from it. -
My Whippet boy is on the Qld Limited register (papers issued in February of this year) - it's white paper, green writing and says "Certificate of Registration and Pedigree - Limited Register" across the top. So I imagine if it doesn't clearly state limited register that they'd be on the main register.

It makes some interesting points for sure. I'm not a fan of punishment or aggressive dominating behaviours towards dogs as a means of training. I'd rather just be firm, consistent and kind with my dogs and encourage them to be respectful members of our family.

Awwww, gorgeous doggies everyone! Here's my little pack - Monty (18 month old minature poodle/labrador cross) and Astro (almost 13 week old Whippet).

Wow! That's an impressive doggy "cake". Sorta turns my stomach as a human but I can imagine the doggy excitement it would incite around my pups.
