Thanks Sheena I think I have put a cue word on too soon. I will try what you have suggested, it makes more sense. Yes I am using a clicker not sure how well but I have been using it when I train him.,

Can I ask about this too. My pup he is 5 months old will go into a drop quite easily but doesn't stay down. As soon as the treat is finished he is up. I have kept the treat in front of his nose for longer but he still pops up straight away. How can I keep him in the down position. He will stay in a sit position when I say stay but the drop is a drop and straight back up.

Birgitbee replied to Tilly's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I gave this to my 22 month old miniature schnauzer and my 14 week old mini schnauzer puppy a week ago, no reaction and all the fleas on the puppy are now gone. The vet suggested it, -
No I don't have them as yet. I contacted the breeder and she said christmas held them up and they were going to get on to it soon. Our puppy was born on 6/10/15 and weeks, he is just over 12 weeks old now.

Unregistered Pups From Registered Parents

How do I find someone to,look it up for me? -
I started this post and thought I would up date. Our puppy is now 12 weeks old and had been with us for 4 weeks. No papers. I contacted the breeder yesterday and they said because of christmas they haven't had time and will do so soon. The dog we have was microchipped at 6 weeks. Do they have to register these puppies? If the don't is there anything we can do?

Unregistered Pups From Registered Parents
Birgitbee replied to Staffyluv's topic in General Dog Discussion
Had their breeder not given them an almighty kick, things would be very different. And the worst part is that I would have just left it and gone oh well, lesson learned. But we still joke that she comes from a backyard breeder really. I have just been reading this post after a search on this forum. We bought what we thought was a pedigree dog who was registered. Shame on us really. We thought seeing as the dog was already 8 months old, not desexed and had an overshot jaw the price we paid reflected these things. (we paid $1300 12 months ago)" . We sourced this dog through a registered breeder who is also registered on this site. Going through her papers recently I realised that what we thought were registered pedigree papers was in fact a hand made pedigree with the name of the registered breeder on top of this. To say we are disappointed goes without saying. We really thought that people registered would be ethical if they are breeders. How naive of us. -
He has been fine since that incident. So thank goodness. Thank you for your support.

If I can not pinpoint a specific reason, I consider the Vet after two such episodes. Have a think of what he might have been doing say since lunchtime yesterday. Any adventures he might have had that caused this? To give you an example, Horrible Herbert chomped on a leather sandal. Small problems afterwards Well he seems to be ok still full of beans, no more retching so will wait and keep an eye on him. Thanks for the advice.

I was jst wondering what to do about my puppy Otto a miniature schnauzer. He woke early this morning dry retching and then dry retched again about 3 hours later. He wasn't as responsive to his food as normal and only ate a small amount. Apart from that he seems happy enough has been playing with our other dog. Should I be worried? Do I need to do anything?

I have used Pet Ark Calm with my dog who suffers from separation anxiety and is over protective of my husband. It has worked to keep her calmer. I can tell the difference if I forget to give it to her for a few days. It has helped with my training of her. I would certainly recommend it.

I think this is excellent service on the part of the breeder. Way more than what I would imagine. Perhaps because the dog came some distance to you but even so I can imagine you were very happy with this.

. This is Abby a Otto's big sister. She has accepted him very quickly. They play rough together and it gets a bit scary sometimes listening to the low growls.

this is our little Otto miniature schnauzer 9 weeks old tomorrow, we have had him for a week. I carry him in a beach basket to the local beach cafe, then he sits on a towel eating treats, bring watched by his big sister Abby. He gets lots of attention from passers by - I am trying to get him to experience lots so as I have a well socialised dog.

We got our pup from the breeder last Sunday and were told that they would send the limited register papers to us once they received them from Dogs NSW. I was just wondering is that normal? And how long would we normally be expected to wait?

Cant Stop Scratching.........
Birgitbee replied to DogzRule's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It has helped my boys bad itch & does not dry out his skin like other dog shampoos have.. I suppose it all depends on ur dog but for a normal dog it works excellent & kills the bacteria in their skin without drying it out.. If you stop using kibble to see if that is what is causing the itching, what do you use to replace it? Do you try a different kibble? Our dog seems to be chewing herself a lot recently. She gets a combination of Nutro Natural Choice kibble and raw meat, fish etc. we have a heaps of jacaranda flowers in the garden that have dropped, has anyone ever heard about these causing allergies. -
Accomodation For Shows At Wollongong?
Birgitbee replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
There are quite a few caravan parks close to Wollongong you would have to enquire about dogs. There is one at Bulli beach which is a fantastic park, one at Corrimal beach and another at Towradgi. I think most of these are council owned. There are also a number on the south side of Wollongong, Windang and Warilla and Shellharbour may also be an option. I will ask around and see what I can find out. -
Hi I have posted here a few times now and the responses I have received have been highly valued. Abby our 10 month old dog, who we have had for 6 weeks continues to worry me. She has settled into our home really well and bonded strongly with both my husband send myself. She came from a breeder who had kept her thinking she might breed from her but then decided not to. There were other dogs in the house and she was well cared for and looked after. When she came to us she was very stressed looking for her owner everywhere, howling and pacing for the first 24 hours. She slowly settled down and now is the most loving and gentle addition to our home. My husband and I have both recently retired and enjoy her immensely. We do notice though that she seems to be highly strung, if she can't see one of us she whimpers. If we take her for walks on the beach she runs between the two of us looking constantly to make sure she can see us both. She is not frightened of other dogs, of thunder or loud noises but she does get upset when we leave her at home sometimes. Just recently we have returned home after an hour away to hear her howling like she did when we first took her home. We took her to be groomed today and when we picked her up she was shaking and wet herself. The groomer said while she played with the other dogs she was very nervous the whole time there. I am concerned about her reactions and would like to help her if I can. She is going to spend the day with my sister next week as we have to go to a wedding. My sister has an older poodle and they have meet a few times but Abby tends to ignore her after the first greeting. We also have a close family member with two miniature schnauzer puppies and Abby is fine with them but after a very short time leaves them to come and sit with my husband. This will be the first time we have left her for any length of time. Does anyone have any hints as to how we might make this easy for her. She is an inside dog but is able to go outside whenever she wants to. We are starting older puppy training in a couple of weeks and I hope to maybe get some advice then. Until then can anyone offer me say suggestions.

We have a mini schnauzer she is 10 months old Abby and has a few lumps and bumps on her front paws that she scratches not all the tine but at times. Some have formed into white pimples. We live in a coastal area with lots of different grasses. We have gotten rid of the wandering Jew that we had a small patch of but she continues to be getting these little bumps. They are mostly on the front of her paws or on her bottom as if when she squats her bottom must touch the grass. we thought they were going away but seem to be getting worse. We have resorted to putting on a small amount of hydrocortisone cream and that does give her some relief. It's difficult to know if she is getting these from our garden or from the walks we take which are often on grassie areas. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what night cause this or how to treat it.
-
Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. We are all still learning and I am sure there will be other glitches as time goes on.

Thanks for all of your good advice it's good to know I can ask such silly questions and receive these wonderful responses. Bring a mini schnauzer owner is very new to my husband and I.

Hi we have a miniature schnauzer Abby, she is almost 10 months old and we have had her for about 6 weeks. We adopted her from a breeder who was going to breed from her but decided against it. Abby has a lovely placid personality and has settled into our household beautifully. My husband and I have recently retired so we have a lot of time to spend with her. We were hoping we should respond more enthusiastically to our 4 grandchildren however Abby tends to ignore anyone echo visits us. She will give a little warning bark when people arrive but then totally ignore them and go to either my husband or myself as if to say protect me. Her favourite place when we have family visit is on my husbands lap. I shouldn't complain because she is the most loveable little thing but I would like her to be a bit more social, especially as if we go away occasionally she will stay with our extended family. Does anyone have any ideas as to how we might accomplish this, before she came to us she lived with other dogs and her owner in country NSW.
