  1. I think it's because I lived in Adelaide, and London, and the tap water there was awful. My parents and I have been buying bottled water ever since. Doesn't tap water have fluoride and other nasty stuff like bacteria in it?
  2. Ooh, I like that one... I have added it to my favourites, thanks :) I have to go to Hardly Normal to get a new phone, so I will look at water filters while I'm there.
  3. For some reason the idea of drinking tap water creeps me out
  4. I had a water filter but I could never get the pressure right, and it kept coming off the tap, and this annoyed me so much that I started buying bottled water. I'm renting so I don't think I'll bother with an under the sink filter, but that is something I would consider in my own home. Thanks for the link. I have added it to my favourites :)
  5. Yes, I agree. I will buy springwater from now on. Thank you :)
  6. Sorry, I didn't see your post :) I thought it was springwater. It is lovely and tastes nothing like the distilled water I've had before, which was kind of weird-tasting. I don't drink tap water and either do my dogs.
  7. I did some googling and this is what I found... Whole Dog Journal suggests that distilled water can possibly be helpful in preventing crystals recurring in dogs who are prone to them. But I also found articles that say that distilled water is harmful because it leeches minerals from the body... That sounds a bit far fetched. Maybe I will ask my vet.
  8. For years I bought bottled water for me and Grover and I have only just realised that it is distilled. It is the Moore's Ultra Pure brand. I thought it was springwater, and I'm not sure if dogs should have distilled water... I remember once reading somewhere that they need the minerals in the springwater. I have asked around other dog owners I know and gotten a mixed response. eta I might change to springwater just in case.
  9. Or maybe I should give him a Buddhist name? http://www.enlightenmentforanimals.org/index.php/benefiting/naming-animals eta Nah, I'm going to call him JR.
  10. I have saved up $2000 already, so I'm pretty much set :)
  11. Plenty of large scale breeders sell direct to the public - more money that way Oh okay, thanks :) The definitions need to be clearer. I didn't even know about commercial breeders and I'm not an average Joe Public type of dog owner. I can't imagine buying a dog from this type of breeder. It's beyond me.
  12. I think it should include pet shop because a puppy mill and a commercial breeder are going to sell their puppies to a pet shop, not directly to the buyer. Or do they mean 'pet shop' by commercial breeder? I'm not sure what a commercial breeder is.
  13. I was going to call him Gomez but it's I think it's too much like Grover. I'm thinking of naming all my four Pugs (I'm planning to own four) after the original 1978 cast from Dallas... JR, Bobby, Jock, Miss Ellie, Sue Ellen, Lucy, Pam and Ray.
  14. I've decided to call my Pug puppy "JR" after JR Ewing (Larry Hagman from Dallas).
  15. No worries and thank you :) Sorry to hear about your girls' tooth. My Pug had really tiny, stumpy teeth. There's no way he could have eaten the bone  Pug teeth... Look how small they are! They crack me up! :)
  16. Sorry, I forgot to say... I used to have a Pug but he recently died from cancer... I used to feed him raw chicken wings and lamb shanks (cut in half) on the weekends. He had a homemade diet during the week. There has been some disagreement as to whether to feed weight-bearing bones, like lamb shanks, but I feel confident that my Pugs would never break the actual bone or even attempt to eat it.
  17. Hi, your puppy is very cute There's a thread here on Dogzonline that's very recent... http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/258012-which-bones/page__pid__6511090__st__15#entry6511090 And if you do a search on raw feeding, you should come up with heaps of threads. It's a very popular subject :)
  18. Not realistic in the USA at all... In my experience, many Pug people are still buying their Pugs from back yard breeders. A lot of people support Pug rescue but they don't seem to distinguish between back yard breeders and registered, ethical breeders. It's very disheartening seeing these badly bred Pugs, and so many of them in shelters and in need of rescue. I think these people are just so desperate to buy a Pug puppy and do it for emotional reasons. eta Thanks, I needed to rant about that... It's been bothering me for a while. Excuse me for going so off topic :)
  19. Amazing! The family must be thrilled. I wonder how she survived and what she ate.
