Little Red Man’S Roller Coaster Journey:
Scottsmum replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in Palliative Care Forum
Oh dear. It's a terribly selfish thing to say but I've been dreading the day I came into this thread to see this update. Boronia has hit the nail on the head. More than all my love you to DDD. -
My aunt used to do it a lot - one year it worked out cheaper for her to take her dog to Tassie for 3 weeks than to board. :)

Nods head in solemn agreement. -
Food puzzles aren't strictly off topic ;) I used to put kibble into a loo roll centre, smoosh the ends closed then put that in an empty cereal box :) On topic - certainly not poo-pooing the idea but I tried the fenzi courses and couldnt follow along - I find it really hard to absorb the info then teach it to Scottie. I have some great notes (not fenzi, someone elses) which I can share - but I don't have them at the moment. I loaned them to a mate. Must get them back.

I Am An Expert On Giving Meds:

Same with friends' cat, Mr Fitz. Vet prescribed a course of 'little blue pills' & stressed he'd be in serious trouble healthwise if not taken. So friends were determined to get them into him. He only struggled a little bit, but there was a gulp as the pill went down. Felt pleased with themselves & Mr Fitz's condition was fine and vet was pleased. But in the following weeks, they kept finding little blue pills behind chairs, under beds & other such places. Seemed he hadn't swallowed any. Could strangle the little buggers sometimes. :) -
You can also do the same with a muffin tin and tennis balls - if your dog isnt tennis ball obsessed...

:) Really? LOL - I just enjoyed the ride. It's so great when you get to the point where they know where it is and you have NFI. Such a fun sport.

I'm loving this thread. Great updates :) Go Fern!

well at least he takes your bag outside and doesn't pee in it, Penny does if I leave it on the floor ha ha ha... You'd learn quick smart not to leave it lying around! My Aunt used to have a cat with a thing for real leather handbags. If you put a real leather bag where he could get to it he'd hump it and chew on it. But only if it was real leather. They had to make a rule for all visitors bags to go away because it was too embarrassing to try and explain he was only into genuine leather

I just thought I'd pop in and say - it's not all doom and gloom. There is still lots of fun and funny times. Lots of joy and snuggly cuddles - which are one of my favourite things in the world. He's got this funny habit where he takes things outside. It's become more pronounced over the last few months. Before it was just his plastic dish after he'd eaten, treats & toys- now it's anything he can get him mouth on. Ceramic bowls, metal water dish, the 'hoop' his metal bowl hangs from in his crate, socks...a roll of sports tape hubby left on the floor the other day... you get the picture. Of course because he's so deaf he can't hear if you yell for him to bring it back, "leave it" or drop it. So the other day I had a pigs ear in my handbag. As you do. And he must have relised because he buggered off with my whole bag, purse, phone, car keys, ID tags for work, the whole lot!!! Luckily I heard him taking off with it so it *just* made it out the back door. God I laughed & chuckled all Friday morning at work too. Naughty boy

I found a number of "little blue pills" under the bed a few weeks ago while i was doing a better than usualy job of vacuuming. No idea how he was spitting them out - I always watch til they're gone - but it appears I've been out foxed by the foxie. As for the laugh DDD - you're right. Good thread. Also exceedingly happy Danny has put some weight on. -
It's not jumping out at me I've searched a few thing- I'm sure it was Dame Danny's Darling or Westie Mum or someone along those lines that who posted it. The thread went a bit sideways but it was helpful :) Edit: FOUND IT! http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/266198-i-am-an-expert-on-giving-meds/page__p__6798868__hl__nutrigel__fromsearch__1#entry6798868 Hope it helps :)

Oh. We had a thread similar to this recently. Im on my phone so a bit hard to search but will come back later. Cant remember who started it but it was called "now im an expert" or something like that :) Its so hard when they wont pill. My last girl was like that. We actually has one of her medicines compounded into a liquid
-
ha ha ha - yes! I read this the other day in one of my groups. My fave bit... "the poopening" ha ha ha

How nice to have multiple generations. Hsppy birthday to Tasha.

Happy to hear she's happier. I know it's cumbersome but could you pop into the vets each afternoon to have her ears done? My old vet used to offer that kind of thing to good clients - you know - free pilling etc.

Any Huskies In Sydney Want To Play?
Scottsmum replied to Springb0k's topic in General Dog Discussion
You might need to try some local FB groups or look up "high tail(s) lodge" & ask if they know any groups. Otherwise maybe find other ways to use your dogs energy... urban sledding maybe? -
Yep. Hard to remember at times but a good point to make.

I think it might be a thing with the older style dog clubs - I found similar when we moved back out to Parramatta - I found a local which was totally ok. Progressive in some areas, friendly but a bit clicky and disorganised and in some aspects - not entirely interested in my and my senior pet dog. The flip side is Dianne runs a business - its her living so she can't afford for people to feel they've been belittled, discouraged or neglected.... and it shows.
