  1. On no!!! Criminal.  Hard to tell from photos. What does she weigh? That colour speckling makes me think of Pointer. Not sure DDD. And we don't own scales.
  2. Dag WM. :) And were not doing anything beyond a weekend... (thank god)
  3. Long version short: What mutt mix do you think this girl is? Our dog walking buddy, E, found this dog in the local reserve a few weeks ago (mid july) E is mates with a person who runs a local rescue & used to be heavily involved in it too. So they put signs up at the local cafe where she was found, E took her home for a feed and long story short - it appears she was dumped in the reserve. She is chipped and when they called the people on her chip they said they sold her "months ago, have moved form the area, can't have a dog and they don't want her back". The "new owners" (if they exist) can't be contacted. No one has come looking for her. We know her name is Holly - she doesn't answer to it. She's chipped as a "fox terrier cross". If she has foxie in her I'll eat my hat. That said - there is possibly a grain of truth in it if that's what she's chipped as. It's possible they bought her expecting her to be more foxie like and .... What do you think she's got in her? I think Red cattle X, E thinks whippet (I don't). She has a very long tail & is wearing one of scottie's collars and jumpers in these photos - so she's not a large dog my any means. She's very pushy, good with Scottie, good with bigger dogs, almost had a go at a smaller dog who jogged past us in the park this morning. E says she's very drivey with birds and very food driven. The day she was found Screenshot_2016-08-20-23-40-19 by Superspanger, on Flickr Screenshot_2016-08-20-23-40-42 by Superspanger, on Flickr **We have her this weekend as E had a family thing and all the other fosters are full - so she needed a place for her. I agreed to take her thinking she was a "foxie"... these were taken at our place last night 20160826_191740 by Superspanger, on Flickr 20160826_191113 by Superspanger, on Flickr 20160826_193133 by Superspanger, on Flickr
  4. Oh. Boronia. My heart absolutely breaks for you.
  5. I feel for all of you. It's hard having broken sleep but she must really need to go too - if she is messing in the house. I agree with a lot of what's said above. A general check up is a good place to start. I'd also be looking towards making alternate sleeping locations equally or more attractive - like the laundry. My boy sleeps in his own bed (or the couch) most of the night then gets in with us when we gets cold. In summer we hardly see him at all except for morning cuddles. I know you said NO CRATES - but maybe it's worth starting the process - I assume (could be wrong) that this is your first (human) baby and both you the dogs might appreciate a crate when you have a toddler in the house! And I'm sure there'll be times when you're grateful for alternate sleeping options for them. You don't have to always shut the door but it could give both your dogs a safe comfy spot to go to down the track as well as helping you now. Other than that, if your girl checks out OK physically, TSD gives good advice above . Or if you're in a position to do so - consider a doggy door and/or try giving her a bit more mental exercise so she's mentally and physically tired at bed time.
  6. When snarly faces and bum holes collide! That face - those eyes - say it all really. bum sniffer. :)

  8. I have a soft spot for the one with the big white chest. But also the one chewing on the soft fox toy giving you the eye.
  9. Oh babe - that is def. 100% just you. LOL We feed the fish and ...something.... one ... it fair pongs... As for Scottie - he's Ok. I've been splitting his time between day care (which I'd rather not do - but rock & hard place) and home on the xanax (also rock and hard place) and me being with him. Having trouble getting in touch with the vet recommended behaviorist - have not had any contact from her and we've been one short at work so it's been nuts. I have essays coming out the wahoo (lol - so why and I even on DOL) and hub has been home a total of 9 days since the start of June - so I'm tired. But Scottie is alright... I was chatting to my (ex)boss about him the other day when I picked him up from day care and she very kindly loaned me her DAP diffuser -which I hadn't tried - having used and had no luck with the collars before. Anyhow, along with the xanax on friday I also left it on & it seemed to help. He had a small chew on his pigs ear - which he hasn't done in a long time, chilled out a lot faster when I got home and every time I skyped in he was sleeping. He was also excellent at dog walking today and was very patient with my friends foster puppy who he met - he doesn't know it yet but she's coming here for 2 nights next weekend while her foster mummy goes away for a family function (no other foster carers are free to care for her and her mum is a special case with the rescue - so we'll have her off the books ) I suspect after 2 nights with an (approx) 8 month old pup with no manners all of us (Scottsdad will be home by then) will be cured of any romantic ideas we might have about puppies for ever and ever. All that aside, to be 100% honest, things are really tough and the longer version of this post is certainly for another time - after essays for sure On that note - or in an attempt to not finish on a complete downer - here's a photo. We have this awesome little spot which always feels like I'm in some kind of secret garden & it's not too far from home. It has this lovely bridge and the creek is full at the moment. He's looking away because he had the shits I'd asked him to 'stay' and as I have said here before - he now looks away when he doesn't want to "listen" - he might be slipping but the old man is still in there ... especially when it suits him. 2016-08-20_10-35-45 by Superspanger, on Flickr
  10. om mi gawsh. they're so cute! So pouncy. So puppy.
  11. I have a few names but i really think you just know. "Scott" was never on the list of possible pet names :)
  12. I love the name "Webly" for a big brown, kinda dumb, dog. ..

  14. I've never tried it for this reason - but I have have used it to get paspalum off Scottie before. The bonus was he stayed still while I massaged it in - because he was busy licking / eating the bits he could reach  I will add - they do feel a bit lank after using it but its probably no worse than how he already feels. It's also possible the stronger shampoo will strip that oil back out.
  15. Ive heard that too. That said, I don't recall ever being told to withhold food at all. Scottie is the least food driven dog i have ever met & he works fine ;)
  16. I came here to say there was an update. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/aug/15/roomba-robot-vacuum-poopocalypse-facebook-post?CMP=fb_gu Not anywhere near as funny as the original but an update.
  17. All Paws Paradise at Pimpama :) Also hosting Fred Helfers from the US for Nosework seminars at the beginning of October. Rumour they have no course listed since June (also nothing on their FB page since June). I tried to email and it bounced back saying it wasn't a valid address. I will try the number tomorrow during business hours to see what's going on. I was all excited and then let down. And Scottsmum it's funny you say that about Fenzi. I found their website and was trying to find out where they were based and where they run classes and it took me forever to realise they send you the course material to do at home. Well I think that's what I'm deducing from your post? So if I can't even work that out easily I'm about worried about the course material and being able to follow it! Yup - they're online :)
  18. I suppose you're going to tell us you've "been busy" with the baby puppies... sheesh...
  19. Sounds like you have it covered. You might not even need the the crate by sounds of things (other than for the flying obviously) We were really thankful to have the crate - it wasn't at all planned on our behalf - but it was helpful as we lived in a house with nothing but 2 blow up mattresses, a second hand fridge and that crate for at least 10 days. :) and it's natural to worry about them :) I cried as a loaded my boy into the pet taxi to go to the airport, but I'm a big sook too... Hope you have a great holiday :)
  20. I took my old boy to NZ last year (one way trip forever hopefully) and was terribly anxious - didn't feel happy until I had him safely back with me but all went well. Lots of people do it all the time - he's probably safer being flown the two hours and staying with you than he would be in a kennel - and you're right - probably a lot happier too. Have you thought about the other end - where he'll sleep, hire cars, food for the duration? or are you staying with family &/or friends who can help out with that. *You said you're hiring the crate - we purchased ours for the flight (well, we didn't relise we'd purchased it - long story) but it was a god send as we used it for the first few weeks as a bed and as an actual crate while we waited for or furniture to arrive. Obviously you arent waiting for furniture but a safe secure lock up option is handy :)
